As the fires raged around them with the acrid smoke billowing into the sky, Shinning Armor could only think of the Princess behind him. A powerful spell slammed into his shield, sending ripples of ethereal energy sparking off it

Gosh so weird to publish a big piece again >_< Tried a different approach this time with coloring. Started with just painting the greyscale values to focus on lighting and contrast before adding some color. It's a wonder how artists can stylize with just black and white but emphasize the features. Maybe I oughta try this method more often, it's pretty fun and seems pretty quick. Doesn't help that I sit on the piece forever when there are unfamiliar elements like magical effects or layers the different colors in a hopefully balanced amount.

I think it turned out pretty alright. It's nice to have an epic and dynamic art piece to work on from time to time, I think these kinds of themes get me the most inspired compared to like cutesy or saucy topics. Shame they're significantly more time consuming.
