Princess Alaina comes from a royal family who are rulers of a kingdom; Alaina was the oldest of her siblings and the heir to the throne. She was known for her beauty, kindness, grace, and wits, and was looked up to the kingdom’s villagers - men and women alike.

One day, Alaina is out at the castle gardens with her siblings when she caught the eye of the Devil, who heard her beautiful singing voice and became infatuated with Alaina when he first saw her. The Devil then approach Alaina’s parents where he ask for their approval to marry Alaina, to which they’re appalled by it. When the king denied the Alaina’s hand in marriage with him, telling the Devil that someone who is villainous will never marry any of his daughters. This made the Devil furious before warning them that he’ll find ways for Alaina’s hand in marriage regardless of her refusals.

After the family had dinner, the king and queen then warn their children about the Devil and how he’s after Alaina to marry her, much to Alaina and her siblings’ horror. For her safety, the king and queen order one of their coachmen to take their oldest daughter to somewhere where she’ll be safe and hidden. After Alaina packed her suitcases, she and her family tearfully bid each other farewell before Alaina gets on the carriage from her kingdom to her destination.

The next morning, Alaina arrives at her destination; the Inkwell Isles. While adjusting her surroundings, she bumps into Cuphead and Mugman, two young cup brothers and she befriends them. Since then, Alaina became Cuphead and Mugman’s best friend and older sister figure, frequently joining them on their wacky adventures.
