commissioned me for the second time to build on this sketch: [link]we're just going to say that's a /magical/ light that makes everything glow without cast shadows
i studied 's amazing photos when i was trying to figure out how to do the wings... he's my favorite photographer here on DA, and you should absolutely go check out his awesome gallery!

This is georgous! May i ask a question? What did you do with the liner to make it merely invisible, like a no line painting? Did you just coloured it whith amazing ability thanks to "lock opacity"? Thank you !

I started with a sketch that had lines... actually it's (cleaned up a bit) here: [link]
Then I started blocking in my colors and lights in general, on a layer underneath the sketch.. nothing detailed... but enough for me to know where certain shapes needed to be. Usually what I tend to do is make the opacity on my sketch layer super light...light enough I can still see it, but not dark enough to interfere with my colors and things on my paint layer. Eventually, I don't need it at all.
I DO lock my paint layer, once I have the whole thing filled in with color.. that way I don't have to worry about going over the edges when I'm painting. Usually after I'm all done, I'll unlock it and go around the edges, fixing little inconsistencies.. there's always a few. :}
