As bright as the second star, the morning sun rose to its breaching surface in the sky to casually greet the day in Neverland. A few boulders
stayed keen to the gentle waves along the shore brushed and lapped against them. Not too far from the beach, there was a ship. A pirate ship to be exact. A mile from the vessel, a curious figure peeked her head out of the water. 'It didn't look like they were fishing', she thought. The young woman waved her fins under the water to keep her supported as she grappled onto one of the rocks, and gave herself a boost. Taking a seat, the mermaid took this opportunity to gaze out to the sea and to the land. She sighed, looking at the water as the thought of the cabin boy she had met the other night. "... Hm... Maybe,-- No. No, no, no. I won't go back to that ship." She pondered argumentatively, struggling to decide whether to see him again or just stay away.

Little did she know, a small rowboat was being paddled back to the ship by one of the pirates. And it was coming her way. Too busy to see or hear the paddling of oars from behind her, the stranger paddled and didn't notice the boulder until the rowboat collided with the rock, making the mermaid jump startled and look back, and much to her surprise, it was the cabin boy.
The lad, startled and partly irritated from not seeing where he was going, turned around and saw the mermaid. He paused before he could speak, his irritable phase being put to ease. "... Miss Bernadette?" He asked her, testing to see if he remembered her name.
Bernadette recognized him and nodded with a short chuckle. "Yes. And it's James, right?" James nodded, a short smiled snuck to his lips. "Whatever happened to never seeing each other again?" The cabin boy asked, resting the oars as he sit back. Bernadette grinned and looked at him. "I was thinking about that, the other mermaids say pirates are dangerous." She shrugged. "But I don't believe them. Not all pirates can be bad. I mean, not you. You're not like them."
He nodded. "I guess you can say that. So, how are you?" James asked eagerly. A pause came from her before she swayed her fins. "Not much, just looking around, keeping watch. So, while you're here..." The mermaid stopped as she leaned back and say comfortably. "Tell me about you. What's it like being a human? Is it easy to walk with two legs?"

These questions made the lad laugh. Then he smiled solemnly with a sigh, "Where should I start?"
