This is very nice. As always love your color choices and the you add a cool and warm light source.
I like how you added more of the light on the upper part of the pocket to indicate thickness of the knife in the pocket.

Thank you. Yop, always looking for warm and cold colors. At first i thought its just a cheap trick to balance your artwork, but after doing these material studies, it's pretty common thing ^^

Β I have to be honest though: It's not quite leather. Maybe too shiny?
Β You're pretty serious about your texture studies, so I hope you don't mind a bit of criticism.
Β I get that it's supposed to be leather because of the stitching (and the title). At the bottom edge of the pocket, I am convinced it is leather. But the rest is so close to being leather but isn't quite. It might be the scratched shading. Even smooth leather has more of a cracked and pitted texture than scratches.
Β All I know is it's more leathery than what I would get if I tried to make this Β

Thank you! Leather was the hardest material i've done, theres too much happening. Tho simplyfied version could be more convincing.
Yes, the leatherwork isnt great, for i'm not using texture brushes for dotty and scratchy textures
So the upper leather looks more like iron, or little polished material with scratches. It's also shiny cuz i always playing with effects when its done.

How does this look like a photograph? It's so good...and it's sketchy but it STILL is convincing my brain it's a photograph. And when you say 100 picture gesture and expression study, what do you mean? I'm very curious!

Yay it's just observation skill. You just look at reference and see what you need to add into your painting + Made with love. Practice makes perfect!
The gesture'n'expression study/practice. It come with theme "pocket" for daily challenge. The Hobbit was first taught, so i took 8 screens from it for comics i was about to create. But never did any comicses. Instead i took it as "100 draw challenge", its about you drawing 100times something in what you have gaps. Isn't important if it's cool drawing, you just trying to catch the essence and mood of gesture and expression. So i've took 100 screenshot and now the waiting in folder ^^
