Hello. The girl you see here, that's me. I'm Julie and I'd like to tell you about a day that changed how I looked at my life and my family. You probably can see that I didn't look really amused at that moment in time. Most people that know me will tell you that I appear rather cheerful most of the time. But I actually use to feel blue equally as often. Sometimes it's only small things that are really bothering me for the whole day. And it was one of these days...

NPSao: "Whatcha doing?"

Julie: "Nothing really, dad. Why?"

NPSao: "Do you have a moment for me? I'd like to ask you something."

Julie: "Sure. What is it?"

NPSao: "Well, it's a simple question. What's bothering you recently?"

Julie: "Nothing."

NPSao: "Something's bothering you. I see that."

Julie: "Not really."

NPSao: "Please. Tell me. I know from the way you behave because I'm the same. I also try to cope with it myself, but it's often easier just to talk about it."

Julie: "Well... To be honest, I was talking with Jessica the other day and she told me that I shouldn't become like Mom. That I should keep studying and that I shouldn't be deceived by Mom's never-ending happiness..."

NPSao: "Oh, and that's bothering you because...?"

Julie: "It's not the first time I was told that Mom's a little... How do I put it? It was the same in school when mom came to pick me up but ended up talking to some of my classmates. They said that mom's a silly airhead and then they made fun of me because I didn't study enough for the test... Don't get me wrong, I love mom, but, she's indeed not the brightest bulb in the box."

NPSao: "Well, that's true. I won't deny that. But it's not all about being smart, you know? Also, I think you put too much thought into your big sister's words."

Julie: "What do you mean?"

NPSao: "Jessica doesn't dislike mom. She just has a different opinion on your mom's career path. Children often go different ways than their parents and Jessica decided that she wanted to be smart and less about happy and cute stuff. And she would love for you to follow her example. But it's the same when your mom would tell you to not become like Jessica. We all would like to see you follow our examples, but in the end, it's up to you who you want to be."

Julie: "That makes sense, yeah. But that still leaves the question, why's mom not smart as everyone else's mothers?"

NPSao: "Does she have to be?"

Julie: "Um. Who doesn't want to be smart?"

NPSao: "That's the right question. And I think I have an idea how to answer that."

Julie: "And how?"

NPSao: "You'll see. Let's me talk to Mom for a moment and we'll show you."

Julie: "Right..."

Later...

Julie: "What's up with the outfit, is mom going on an adventure?"

Lucie: "Sort of, hihi."

NPSao: "We three are going on a little adventure."

Julie: "And how's that answering my question?"

NPSao: "That's exactly the reason we're doing this."

Julie: "I don't think I can follow."

Lucie: "That's the problem, sweetie. You think too much!"

NPSao: "That's why my idea is that we three go on an unthinking adventure."

Lucie: "Exactly! Like, you, me, and daddy all having fun and no worries together!"

Julie: "Wait! What? Does that mean you'll change dad into a-"

Lucie: "A happy sexy bimbo girl, yes! But it was like his idea!"

NPSao: "You asked what kind of person would like to be unsmart and the answer is... anyone!"

Julie: "Anyone...? But that doesn't make sense. I don't want to be dumb!"

Lucie: "Well. You see, it's like more complicated stuff. But it's a bother to explain. It's easier to simply feel yourself."

NPSao: "Yesh... Like when brainie goes bye-bye it's like totes a great feel!"

Lucie: "You always talk soooo cute when your mind becomes simple."

NPSao: "Because it suddenly is all pink and all worries go woosh!"

Julie: "What does this have to do with my question? You just turned dad into a dumb bimbo girl, mom!"

Lucie: "I totes did!"

Julie: "But why would anyone want to be a dumb bimbo?"

NPSao: "Thanks a bunch for changing me!"

Lucie: "Well, I totes like guy you more but your idea was so sweet and fun!"

NPSao: "Couldn't do it without you! Like I love you so much! No matter if I'm a girl or a boy!"

Lucie: "Same! Love you so much!"

Julie: "Hey. Don't start flirting with each other. You still haven't answered my question."

Lucie: "Didn't I say it's about feel?"

Julie: "Feel what?"

NPSao: "Well you see. Daddy told you that he's like sometimes so full of worries too. So, daddy enjoys being changed by mommy because not only his smart but also all of his worries just go away."

Julie: "So, you become dumb to become happy?"

Lucie: "That is a much easier explanation! I totes haven't think about it!"

Lucie: "Now, how about you give mommy a big hug, so I can show you?"

Julie: "I'm not sure. To be honest, imaging to give up my smarts is kinda scary."

Lucie: "Everyone thinks so at first. But you will see, it feels totes great!"

Julie: "Fine... I trust you..."

I'm not gonna lie, I was really afraid the first time it happened. I was nervous about what would happen, but I wanted to trust my parents in this matter. They would never do something that would harm me. I was certain of it.

It was an odd feeling as I could feel mom's magic washing over me. Like a fuzzy warm feeling that spread all over my body. Then I could feel my clothes changing, which tickled a little. But most of all it was like all the weight was lifted from my mind.

It's really hard to describe the feeling, mom was right about that. It was like I started to not care about all the things that kept bothering me. Like they moved far away, while I just started to think about all things that made me happy. Sure, there was also this clouded feeling that made it hard to think about more complicated matters but I just didn't care at that moment. I was simply... happy.

Julie: "This... This is like totes awesome!"

NPSao: "Didn't I say so? It's like a super cool feeling, right?"

Julie: "Yes! Why was I even worrying about anything?"

Lucie: "Hehe. Just leave it to mom to make all worries go away!"

NPSao: "That's your mom's job and she's like the super best in it!"

Julie: "Yes! Now I know what you mean! Like... it feels totes good to be silly and stuff!"

Later...

Julie: "Alrighty! It's said that there's like some kind of treasure at the end of this trail!"

NPSao: "Let's get it then! I'm sure it will be a super fun adventure!"

Lucie: "Yush! Adventuress Lucie awaits your orders. Like, where should we go?"

And that was the day I learned that being smart and being silly both have their perks and uses cases and that my mom does actually have a super cool job that gives other people the chance to escape their stressful daily lives and make them able to just enjoy their lives for the moment. You're awesome, mom!
