Completed March 1, 2006YAY! I've finished the last of the pieces of my long-planned pieces.
This one actually fulfills two desires. The first, and most important, being a Final Fantasy V fanart. Final Fantasy V doesn't get enough love !_!. So, here you go, everyone! Second, I haven't done a summery, beach, swimsuit piece in AGES! And really, winter is the best time to do it-- it's a real mood elevator. Think spring, everyone!
So we've got Reina and Faris in the front, and Krile's off the back there. I didn't want Krile showing too much skin because she's only 14 and I don't want people to get the wrong idea about me! I was gonna give her a sorong as well, but once I finished the bathing-suit, I thought a cute one-piece was harmless enough, especially if I give the two older girls much more revealing suits.
Finally, if you haven't noticed, the color schemes of these bathing suits are designed to match their in-game clothes.

While I didnยดt like it as 4 and 6 (I haven't played the nintendo and playstation entries) I gotta say, it's a really good adittion to the saga

I completely agree with you regarding FFV not getting enough love.
I used to think how lucky it was for bartz to go on some crazy adventure with a bunch of hot princesses (at least I think they were all princesses) but after viewing this pick I'm just jealous of the bastard

I'd suggest completely re-drawing Krile. Her face is lop-sided, her waist is too defined for a little girl, and she has saggy grandma boobs.
I do like the triangle composition of the piece though, and the colors are relaxing.
Faris looks so nervous to be in girly clothes. xD

I agree with you on her face, but I'm not going to go in and redraw all that after all these years. I'd rather leave it as it is, mistakes and all. I'm not George Lucas. ^_^
My statute of limitations for fixing mistakes is a couple of weeks at most.
People can either enjoy it as it is, or use it as an example of how my technique has since evolved.

What the hell happened to Krile's boobs? Is she even supposed to have any?
Facial anatomy on most of them is god-awful, but the body structures (save Krile's) is pretty spot on. Work with slightly smaller, less angular eyes, and you may have a winner here.

wow, i've somehow become a nitpick! and about one of the most hard parts to draw EVER.
Put simply, you drew Krile's breasts the same shape as larger sizes would be, her's shouldn't need the creases underneath, as those show how they hang down. being that young, she should just need some shading.

Well, in anime style, you always draw the contours, no matter the size. When her bathing suit is taken into account, you may have a point.
If she had been in a two-piece or outright topless (but I'd never do that with someone so young), then I'd have drawn it JUST right. For a one-piece though, it's more correct to not draw the countour lines, and done something more along the lines of what I did with this tank top: [link]
A one-piece bathing suit is a lot like a tank top with attached bottoms. Well, an extra year's experience will teach me that.

Actually, i think it'd still look wrong, two-piece or nude, since a hard line there implies a crease, and a crease implies droopage.
Breasts of a larger size would form a crease as gravity takes hold, but at the age i think Krile is supposed to be, well, there shouldn't be enough there to droop that much.
Oh, and i knew her as Cara due to a fan translation.

Yeah, that's Square's inability to commit to names. In the 90s, the only way to play this game in English was through a fan translation. The fan translation listed it as Lenna.
Then it was officially translated for the Playstation release. Here, her name was translated to Reina. Seven years went by, and then along came FFV Advance, which saw the name change back to Lenna.
It's actually annoying has hell when they change everything up. Gives fanboys one more thing to argue about. And dammit, there's no need to throw another log on that fire!

I agree with all of that above. I like Final Fantasy V and I like this picture. I like Krile alot, but Rein aand Faris get more"spotlight", and there are people who dislike her because they like Galuf more.

In that case. The newer games leave less up to interpetation for fanartists because there's less to determine in what the character looks like or wears. Unless you want to take artistic privelage and draw it differently.

Ah, thanks. I like doing the older games and I'll tell you why. A lot of them are just better games, but more specifically, they're better for FANART!
Look at the newer FF games. The characters aren't little 16x16 sprites anymore. You can see EXACTLY what these people look like in terrific detail. I like the good visuals, but it takes out some of the need for imagination.
Of course, that's all moot when I replace their normal outfits with bathing suits n_n.
