Well, St. Patrick's Day isn't until next week, so for once I have one of these finished nicely in advance. THIS March 17, I don't have to be like "Damn, I need to finish this so I can start drinking!"

Nah, the reason I worked on it now is pretty simple: I was in the mood to. I've had enough experience with this to know that when the artistic juices are flowing, to jump on that and make something, because I might find myself is a slump later. And since this is for a holiday which gives it a deadline, it was all the more reason to do it now. Finally, we have an early Easter this year, it's also in March. This way, I can spend some extra time thinking of what I want to do for that, because right now, I'll be honest: I HAVE NO IDEA!

I wanted to stick to something simple here. With St. Patrick's Day 2015 , I went too high concept and it bit me the ass. The girl looked cute, but it was everything else that I just couldn't make work the way I wanted and I had to settle. I hate having to do that, I'm increasingly becoming a perfectionist with these pinup girls. But I also think doing so has significantly improved the quality of my work, so there you are.

Instead I tried something that I didn't realize at the start was quite similar to St. Patrick's Day 2014 , but with a better pose, curvier proportions and just a simpler idea: a girl serving up huge mugs of beer in a cute, kinda showy costume. I added the coattails and the fishnet stockings to make the idea that she's in COSTUME here, like what a magician's assistant might traditionally wear or something. I even tried adding some sparkles to the jacket, but that didn't really work.

Once again, it makes my work for Easter more difficult, since I JUST used the idea of a girl in a leotard based costume with fishnet tights. She just has a shamrock in her hair instead of bunny ears!
