I originally intended to make this for 4/20, but I stopped working on it. I could've very easily had it up on the 20th, but I shelved it because I just didn't want to make it anymore. I lost any desire to to even look at the damn thing.

My holiday SUCKED and was a total, sobriety-laden pile of shit. I make it no secret that I enjoy my cannabis, so to have to sit that day out just really upset me. Not so much because I had nothing to smoke, but because it a reminder that my life was in such a state of SUCK that even something as simple as picking up a couple grams became this impossibility. I don't need to get into it further, and lord knows I didn't need to put a poster on my gallery to immortalize that day.

But I liked the idea I had for this. After my mood eventually improved, I decided to wait until some good news came along, something related to this subject, and re-purpose it for that occasion. And to my surprise, the good news came almost immediately:

Legalization is gonna be on the ballot in my state this year. The other day the State... Board of... guys who certify petition drives... I'm too lazy to look up their name. Anyway, the other day it was made official that there were enough signatures to get it on the November ballot. And the likelihood of it passing is almost certain-- it most recently polled at 61% in favor.

The only reason I didn't get straight back to work on it is because I wanted to finish Shopping in Northtown first, which I shelved to work on THIS in the first place before everything went to hell!

This was really a perfect project for me because it combines so many things I love: cannabis, archaic language, pinup girls, and satire.

I looked at loads of old movie posters from anti-weed propaganda films from the 1930s. They almost all had sensationalized language and typefaces, and gratuitously included some girl in some kind of lingerie. Just go look up a few on google and you'll see what I mean.

Of course, I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to typography that I spent hours getting all that type JUST how I wanted it. If someone points out a typo at this point, I might have to kill them! ^_^ I've had times where I had to change a letter or word and it totally threw off my typography. Happened to me with Red Star: Dawn Over Moscow .

But I checked and checked and checked my spelling and grammar and made sure I had no accidental word omissions or anything. I think I got it... I'm gonna check again. Yeah, looks good. ^_^
