So right around the time I first joined deviantArt, I made an illustration called Night . Pretty much the same premise I have here, a girl viewed from the back, standing out on a balcony with a bright city skyline behind her, and wearing only a very thin, sheer, button-up nightshirt. It was the first time I felt emboldened enough to dare show a little nudity, because before that I'd been uploading on angelfire (god, remember THEM?) and they were more strict about such things.

Since then I've made a new, much higher resolution city skyline as a stock background. I've gotten better at layer blending and transparency effects. I've gotten LOADS better at drawing cute asses. All of it seemed to click. So I figured, why not?

Back in '05 it was more about how sexy a look that is when a woman is a bare-legged and wearing a men's dress shirt. That's a pretty universal guy thing: we love that. Although in this case I don't think this is an actual dress shirt... imagine a dude just walking around in a coat, necktie, and completely transparent shirt! But when I was looking at reference photos, I found a nightie with this design called something like "Boyfriend's Shirt".

And it's a look that ONLY looks good on a woman. Men can't pull that off. Swimwear and underwear, yeah, women can find that sexy on a man depending how good-looking he is and what kind he's wearing. This, no, no man can pull off the shirtcocking thing (thank you for teaching me that one, Deadpool). I found this cartoon recently that shows what I mean quite well.

I did have some trouble above the neck. I still have some trouble drawing faces from the side, but it's getting easier. I gave her a natural hair color as opposed to the purple in the original, well, I used to think those hair colors were cute in my weed phase, but internet feminists have pretty much RUINED unconventional hair colors for me ;_;. And I wanted to give her a shorter hairstyle, which I've also had some difficulties with in the past. I was originally trying more for like a cute pixie cut, but it didn't work right. I realize since then the mistakes I made, so I'll try it again some time and maybe get a little practice (actually, that's a GREAT idea, print out a bald-headed lineart and practice hairstyles). So I scrapped that and replaced it with more of a bob, and tried to make it look looser and more layered and not too... Spock-like... for want of a better term.

So I think it's cute now. And no matter what, with that body I don't think she'd ever be mistaken for anything but a woman. ^_^
