Description For NationStates; Modeled in DoGa from really just two new parts with some add-on bits.

----

When the OSA needs to move large numbers of soldiers from here to there, their first choice is the Sentinel-Class Dropship. This enormous vessel can move an entire brigade - 3000-5000 personnel - nearly anywhere, though as with most dropships it does so by hitching a ride docked with an FTL-capable spaceship. These in turn are the OSA's 'Draconis heavy cruisers and these can accommodate four of these craft, meaning that each cruiser can move an entire division.

Explicitly designed for combat drops, they are built to survive insertion under fire, deploy their carried units as quickly as possible, and support their deployment. At the very top is the 'ships docking ring which is surrounded by the (retractable) communications array. Below this is the command deck, which can also serve as the brigade command if needed. Below this is the flight deck and its associated maintenance facilities. As shown, this is accessible through five shielded hatches that can be opened in any environment with the hatch-ramps fitted with launch catapults.

Below this is the infantry barracks, again with its associated facilities such as mess and medical. A general storage facilities sits below this and this is surrounded by the often-called 'gun ring', which mounts the crafts various weapon systems. As a default - and there are variants - these are five missile launch bays, five heavy accelerators, five anti-missile/artillery systems, and another five utility ordinance dispensers. Below this is the main transport bay, which is accessible through five large hatches that double as deployment ramps. Each hatch is flanked by smaller infantry sally ports. Below this is the ship's drive assembly with a central lift unit and five secondary control and stabilization units spaced between the hatches.

Interspersed between all of this are various other systems and sub-systems - life support, power, even entertainment. That isn't to say that these are intended as long-term or even medium-term facilities. If transporting an entire brigade, they are cramped. They are intended to move soldiers from here to there and not spend a whole lot of time in-between. That said, the OSA is an enormous organization with multiple region theatre-level commands. This then means that when they need to put a large structure somewhere for doing something on a semi-permanent basis, 'Sentinels are often pressed into that purpose and 'variants' now exist for regular use as anything from disaster relief stations to wildfire support units to fitted-out mobile hospitals.
