We mostly think these animals were weird because we're not used to seeing them and because they differ much from our current fauna. But they were as adapted to their environment as our current animals are I guess.

It's interesting; Β Atopodentatus ended up being more like an aquatic Nigersaurus equivalent. Β I had a feeling the initial interpretation of it's jaws were too strange to be true. Β Either way, it's still an odd animal. Β Nice job on it! Β
