Dinos were a bit like birds... lighter than they look. They had hollow bones and air sacs at strategic positions (such as the neck in sauropods) not to topple over...

The bones thing makes sense, I always figured they were some kind of bird precursor (my chickens get this certain look about them when they think I've brought out food, and all I can think about are velociraptors...). I did not know that about the strategically located air sacs
