My favorite character from my favorite book: John Childermass.

Childermass could look at a smart attorney in the street and tell you what he had in his coat-tail pockets. And all that Childermass knew made him smile; and some of what he knew made him laugh out loud; and none of what he knew wrung from him so much as a ha’pennyworth of pity.”

I have always wanted to draw him. I've tried many times and failed. I had challenge in #Read-It-Draw-It to push me to it this time and here he is.

And this is kind of for *DayLight13 as well. She was kind enough to geek-out with me about it. And I can *always* geek-out about this book.

When I first read the book I was stunned. It was like my John staring out at me. What is it about badass dudes (most who are taciturn and wear black) named John? Think about it ... there really are a lot of them. I think it's because that kind of a character is an archetype. My second-favorite archetype, as a matter of fact. Childermass, in particular, is my hero. (Much to my relief, as I read, I found some very stark differences.)
