PART 1: Origins of the World Order

Throughout history after the Neolithic Era (until recent decades), society has been divided into 3 main groups, in a pyramid hierarchical structure, each with their own unique goals.

The High, those in power, had intentions to stay in power indefinitely;

The Middle, subservants to the High, had intentions of replacing the High; and...

The Low, the largest of the 3 groups, wanted a society in which everyone is equal.

Every so often, the Middle would overthrow the High (due to their oppressive nature) with the Low’s assistance, become the new High, and proceed to keep the Low exactly where they were beforehand (again, using oppression). Meanwhile, a new Middle would grow out of one or both of the other groups, and this cycle of overthrowing oppressive governments and replacing them with equally (if not more so) oppressive ones would begin again.

Over time, however, people from all 3 groups began to make out this pattern, and by the middle of the second decade of the 20th Century, a new Middle was at work to stop it.

Their goal was different than their predecessors in 3 fundamental ways.

First, they were against Human equality. In the past, the Middle promised this to the Low to get their support, and in recent cases, such as in the aftermath of the American Revolution, started keeping their promise to the Low and actually started working towards equal rights for all citizens, though there was certainly still a long way to go. However, doing this meant a more even distribution of wealth throughout all 3 groups. The problem was that one’s wealth was, in most cases, what defined a person’s status of power. Without a significant disproportionate spread of wealth concentrated towards the High, the Middle feared, it was only a matter of time before the educated Low realized that the High served very little purpose in a society where all people were equal, regardless of race &/or religion, and would abolish the hierarchical structure. Thus, human equality became something to be averted, rather than be strived for.

Secondly, the Middle at the time intended to, once they had ascended to power, permanently stop the cycle. This would have been impossible had they been in any earlier time in history. However, the coming of the machine in the mid-19th Century, and the use of two little somethings known as propaganda and nationalism, on a massive scale had given the Middle the tools they needed to make this happen. They would stop the cycle by keeping the Low distracted with entertainment, making them completely ignorant of their own oppression. The recent invention of the radio made this relatively easy, and even more so once television came around. With the Low not knowing they are being oppressed, they cannot revolt, securing the to-be High in their position.

Last, unlike the Pharaohs, Caesars, and numerous kings before them, they subconsciously knew what they were doing, and only wanted power. Not wealth, nor luxury, just pure political power. Why? Just to have power! Whilst previous leaders lowered their power in order to appease those they were oppressing (and subsequently caused their own undoing), this incarnation of the middle claimed to know better due to the ability to look back on the mistakes made by past incarnations of the High. Incarnations of the High past thought that one establishes a revolution to safeguard against tyranny, but the current middle realized (or so they thought) that the opposite was true: one establishes the tyranny to safeguard the revolution. Oppression for the sake of oppression, torture for the sake of torture, and power for the sake of power.

As for WHO composed the middle, they were scientists, bureaucrats, teachers, philosophers, soldiers, farmers, and workers from all places within the High and Low. Notable members included Adolf Hitler (Germany), Heinrich Himmler (Germany), Benito Mussolini (Italy), Francisco Franco (Spain), Joseph Stalin (Russia), Ivan Koniev (Russia), Hideki Tojo (Japan), Chiang Kai-shek (China), Mao (China), Jawaharlal Nehru (India), William Pelley (USA), Douglas MacArthur (USA), Richard Nixon (USA) , Oswald Mosley (Britain), Charles de Gaulle (France), Francois Mitterand (France), Kemal Ataturk (Turkey), Daniel Francois Malan (South Africa), Haile Selassie (Ethiopia), Gamal Abdel Nasser (Egypt), Getúlio Vargas (Brazil), Juan Domingo Peron (Argentina), and Plutaco Calles (Mexico).

Coming together and formally recognizing their long-term goals was the easy part for the Middle. The hard part: the act of actually rising to power.

Timing, though, was once again in their favor. A conflict on the sale of which had never before been seen broke out in August 1914, commonly known as The Great World War. It lasted over 4 years, wreaking havoc on the political structures of the defeated nations, as well as the economies of all participating nations except for the United States of America (USA). The rest of the global economy then went into a frenzy of, to put it simply, making too much stuff for people who could only buy so much, and collapsed in its entirety in October 1929.

The result was that people in many countries wanted governments that would do something about the crises that the current High (unintentionally, granted) had caused, in addition to an explosion in nationalism worldwide. The Middle everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE, seized the opportunity and came under control of nearly every country in the world by 1935.

That is NOT to say that they were all in agreement with one another. Members of the Middle, now the High, almost always trusted one another with the deepest suspicion. Purges usually occurred within the High to weed out former middle members marked down & out as “counter-revolutionaries”, “spies”, “traitors”, “impostors” and the like, and usually charged with manufactured, uncommitted crimes against the state (though in rare cases, these charges were not entirely false).

And this is not mentioning international relations once the former Middle came to power. During the first 3 decades after the High (which we will be calling ‘the Party’ from here on) rose to power, countries often went to war because either the leaders of 2 or more nations just couldn’t stand the sight of each other (e.g., U.S.S.R. with Germany and Italy), or alternatively for reasons ranging from cultural (e.g., Japan absorbing China) to just absolutely ridiculous (e.g., Brazil and Argentina over a rugby game). The winning side usually fully annexed the defeated into their own country and had their leaders (mock) tried and executed; though in later years they were drugged into becoming enthusiastic supporters of the winner.

PART 2: The Early Years.

From 1938-1941, much of Continental Europe was partitioned between The Kingdom of Italy (A.K.A. the Neo-Roman Empire) (ruled by Benito Mussolini), and The 3rd German Reich (ruled by the ‘Nazi’ Party led by Adolf Hitler) & its subsequently established puppet states. This, however, wouldn’t last too long, as after the latter attempted, and failed, to invade the Soviet Union (which had already absorbed the Baltic States) in 1944, within 5 years the “communist” bear had conquered both nations, in addition to neutral Finland, Romania, and Hungary. Josef Stalin’s conquering spree only ended when the Red Army failed a naval invasion of the British Isles (the UK led by Oswald Mosley of the English-Socialist Party / Ingsoc, as Primer Minister), mostly due to logistic problems and a sh*tty navy.

When Russia conquered (mainland) Europe, the latter’s overseas colonies were thrown into chaos. The French Gov.-in-exile, which had already set itself up as Free France in its former colonial territories in 1941, conquered most of Africa. (It was a relatively easy job, as nearly all of the continent was in total anarchy.) The only rival power in the region was the Ethiopian Empire, and their relationship was a rare one of friendliness. Italian Libya was conquered by an Arabian-Megalomaniac-ruled Egypt, as was Mesopotamia, the Arabian Peninsula, Persia, and Afghanistan. The British Raj declared independence from the British Empire as the Indian State, and overran Burma & the Maldives to secure itself against any retaliatory invasion to reclaim it.

The remnants of the declining Britain and its remaining commonwealth nations / members (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa) desperately merged with the USA, “democratically” led by William Pelley of the Silver Shirts. This merger, which not only included the Union of Britain (the monarchy had been overthrown by Ingsoc by that point) and the Commonwealth nations, but also the American allies/satilites/puppet nations that comprised Latin America, formed The National Socialist Union of Oceania in May 1960.

In response to the formation of Oceania, the U.S.S.R. merged with its occupied territories in October 1960, and became The Eurasian Union of Socialist Republics. Eurasia would eventually annex all leftover European nations (Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the Papacy, San Marino, Andorra, Spain, Portugal, and Turkey; in that order) by the end of 1963.

With the invention of the Atomic Bomb, Oceania & Eurasia's predecessors started developing them, and started using them in 1952. The main areas affected by the ensuing Nuclear War were Western Europe, Central Europe, European Russia, and North America (i.e. former USA & Canada). Both sides stopped using them in less of a year, however, after scientists warned of the effects of Nuclear Winter (in the Party’s mind: Nuclear Winter = Fall from power = doubleplusungood). As an upside for the Party on both sides, though, the ruined cities meant they could assert their control easier and more effectively than prior.

Events in Asia ran concurrent to those in Europe. The Empire of Japan, after more than a decade of tireless fighting, defeated & puppeted a fragmented, defunct Republic of China in 1947, and set its sights towards Indonesia. Whilst that was being done, Japan, its puppets in China, Manchuria, Tibet, and Bhutan, in addition to its ally Siam*, formed an economic & military alliance known as The East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. India would be an observer, and the sphere's ranks would later be joined by Nepal (willingly) and Indonesia (mandatorily, after it was conquered and puppeted by Japan in 1954).

This was possible because US President Pelly made a trade agreement with Japanese Prime Minister Hideki Tojo in 1941, in which the USA (later Oceania) would give the Archipelago nation all the oil & fuel it needed, in exchange for Japan promising to “not go about messing with”, as Pelly phrased it, American (the Philippines, Midway Island), British (Australia, Hong Kong, New Guinea), and French (Indochina) colonial possessions/Commonwealth nations in the region. Both Tojo and Emperor Hirohito adhered to it… for 24 years, as whatwith China & Indonesia’s vast resources easily accessible, the agreement became obsolete by 1952.

Since conquest was still in Eastasia’s heart (it would be inaccurate to call them merely ‘Japanese’ any longer, as Koreans, Chinese, Tibetans, Siamese, Nepalese, and Indonesians who all swore loyalty to Hirohito had found their way into major government positions within a decade), plans were made to invade Oceanic Malaysia, North Borneo, Philippines, New Guinea, & Australia, and Eurasian Mongolia (absorbed by the USSR in 1954) & Siberia. With these areas’ resources, East Asia would be the world’s dominant power.

Justification for this came from a Chinese ideology that roughly translates into English as “Death Worship,” but would perhaps be more accurately known as “Obliteration of the Self.” In it, the lives of individual people serve no meaningful purpose, and the only thing that has any real meaning in life is the Government. Tojo’s interpretation of it was along the lines of “The EACPS’s ultimate purpose is to lead humanity to a higher plane of existence by any means necessary,” so he founded the aptly named Death Worship (DeWor) Parties of Japan, China, Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, Manchuria, Siam, and Indonesia on this principal.

In 1965, Eastasia declared war on Oceania and Eurasia, immediately invading Malaya, North Borneo, and Siberia (via Vladivostok). Eurasian territory east of the Amur River was successfully overrun, and the Philippines & Midway were conquered via naval invasion, but from there, Eastasian military progress stalled. The combined area of the Russian S.F.S.R. east of the Urals and the Mongolian S.S.R. proved to be more than a little too vast for Eastasian troops to effectively cover and defend, while simultaneously New Guinea, let alone Australia, proved themselves too well defended to be invaded by a foreign power.

Meanwhile, Free France had its eyes set on Oceanic South Africa as its first conquest in over a decade. Seeing Oceania distracted by Eastasia, it also declared war.

In hindsight, this decision was… well, stupid and, to put it blatantly, suicidal. Free France’s armies were poorly trained, and it was technologically behind the 3 warring nations. Thus, unsurprisingly, instead of South Africa being conquered from Oceanian rule, the opposite happened, and Oceanic forces ransacked Free France as a result. The large island of Madagascar even got annexed.

Oceania’s armies then continued into neutral Ethiopia, obliterating all kingdom territory but the core highlands and the Horn of Africa** within 10 months. The kingdom held on, however, and managed to ride out the perpetual war using guerilla tactics to dissuade Oceanic and Eurasian soldiers from finishing off the African Lion.

Similarly, Eurasia declared war on Free France and The Egyptian Caliphate, hastening the collapse of the former as forces crossed the Strait of Gibraltar into Morocco & beyond. Egypt didn’t hold out too long either; despite its armies being up-to-date in terms of technology, said armies, even combined, were far smaller than Eurasia’s. It collapsed in less than a year; though the heir to the former Saudi throne led a successful resistance in southern Arabia that lasted up until the Collapse.

Neither was India safe. In 1968, Oceanic troops landed in the Maldives and Bombay before war was even officially declared. Like Egypt, the Indian military proved no match against Oceania’s. As a result, Delhi sent a distress call to Tokyo, pleading for help; instead, Eastasia declared war on the Indian State, effectively sealing their fate as well as instantly vaporizing any hope for democracy to prevail anywhere in the ENTIRE world. Period.

(... well, at least not anytime soon.)

Burma (Myanmar) was quickly established as another (and ATWT***, the final) member of the Co-Prosperity Sphere.

Strangely, Oceania and Eurasia never stopped their own war between themselves, even though in recent times Eastasia proved explicitly to be a greater threat. Nobody knows a lick about why this was, but the most widely accepted explanation is that the overly-addicted-to-power members of both the Oceanian National Socialist (NatSoc) Party and the Eurasian Neo-Bolshevik (NeoVik) Party were simply 1: too focused on oppressing their own respective peoples, and 2: too stubborn to back down to the other.

Speaking of oppression…

PART 3: Daily life in the World Order

To prevent the cycle of revolt from happening again, the Party (all 3 variants) took greatly enormous and, I am not overstating this, radical measures, the likes of which have never been seen before or since.

The homes of "Outer" Party members (the ‘Middle,’ according to the model in the first PART) in all 3 Hyperpowers were fitted with hidden cameras and/or microphones, which were being monitored almost 24/7 by secret police (called the Thought Police in Oceania; the KGB in Eurasia and the Soviet Union before it; the Divine Watch in Eastasia) from an unknown location. Heck, even their Televisions doubled as cameras (these have since been dubbed “telescreens”).

Children were brainwashed from a young age to be loyal to the Party (whatever it called itself) and love only Big Brother (Pelly) / Elder Brother (Kaganovich) / Eternal Father (Hirohito), and no-one else, with kids of Outer Party members going as far as to spy on their parents for doing as much as simply making an offhand comment about the Party’s policies with the slightest bit of criticism, resulting in countless parents being arrested by the TP / KGB / DW for their actions.

Party members were trained to be paranoid, emotionless machines to work “for the good of the nation/Party” or “to end the war faster”, and such. Because the Party banned the use of automobiles by everyone (sans the Party higher-ups), travel outside of one’s home city was extremely rare, making one’s neighborhood the entire world to newer generations.

The ONLY holiday of any sort all year round was “Hate Week”, which is the 2nd week in July in all 3 Hyperpowers. This is when war fanaticism is at its peak during the year, as Hate Week is used to rally support for the war against [] and [] (depending on where one lived). All other pre-existing holidays, including Christmas, New Year’s, Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Day of the Dead, Valentine’s Day (especially this one), ETC, ETC, were banned and purged from nearly all calendars and historical records by the Party (though some survived, allowing us to know about them).

Simultaneous to this, all 3 Hyperpowers’ vocabularies shrank each year. Each country had their own version of “Language Control”, as people nowadays call it;

Oceania had Newspeak, which was simplified English (“Oldspeak”)****.

Eurasia had a modified form of Esperanto, which was mostly simplified Russian, but also had a (narrowing) variety of Spanish, French, German, Italian, Greek, and Turkish words as well.

East Asia had Japanese, Chinese, and a handful of Korean letters which meanings were constantly changing, altogether disrupting the signifier-signified relationship.

The concept behind these was simple: If one narrows the vocabulary, there would be no words to express rebellious ideas. Because of the resulting breakdown of communication, eventually there would theoretically be no rebellious… well, anything. Of course, the Party knew that this would take a long time to happen, if the NatSoc Party’s date of Newspeak replacing Oldspeak set as far back as the mid-22nd century indicates anything.

Meanwhile, all non-Party members, called Proles (short for Proletariats, who basically functioned as serfs), who make about 75% of all 3 Hyperpowers’ populations, grow up uneducated in mathematics, literature, history, and the liberal arts (music, literature, sports), living in endless, exponentially worsening poverty. They are distracted from their miserable situation by films, porn, and books all made by machines, which falsely taught them that everything in the past was how it was in the present. Effectively, they were made blissfully unaware of their own oppression, just as the Party had planned so long ago.

In “The Disputed Zone” (DZ) (i.e.what used to be Free France, Ethiopia, Egypt, & India), which made up ⅕ of the total human population, everyone living in the area permanently is essentially a slave, regardless of race, religion, and sex. Here, everyone worked 16 hours every day, with no breaks, from the age of 15 up until their deaths at 60 at most, either due to overworking, dehydration, malnourishment, mortal injuries during work, disease, or physical fatigue. Even when a different army sweeps over them, whether or not they are Oceanic, Eurasian, or Eastasian, they still work. Even if they have infants at home needed to be desperately cared for, they still work; Even if one is a woman and is pregnant, they still work; Even if they are sick, they still work; Even if one has physical disabilities, they still work; the occupying forces made sure of this. If they died because of reasons above, their bodies were cremated, their remains unidentified. And even if they were, they would only be identified as numbers, not proper names. Working conditions in general, though, were reminiscent of the early Industrial Revolution, except with notably higher safety standards.

In both the Proles and Slaves, all memories of a time when the world was different slowly died away as past generations died off, which would have eventually left nothing to contradict the Party’s claims, whatever they may be at any given time.

The very existence of the remnants of Ethiopia and Egypt remained a very, very tightly-kept secret on all 3 sides.

Meanwhile, back in the superstates, Party members who don’t fall in line with the rest of the Party are sought after by “The Resistance”, led by ‘Emmanuel Goldstein,’ and usually join. In reality, the Party was playing them like musical instruments, and ‘Emmanuel Goldstein’s’ ‘Resistance’ was simply a ploy to lure out dissidents in the Party. Only a few hours after a dissident signs up for ‘The Resistance’, they are abruptly arrested by the TP / KGB / DW and thrown into ReEducation Centers (repurposed gulags & concentration camps in specific areas of Eurasia), as are parents caught by their children.

There, special Party members proceed to "fix" (read: torture) dissidents 24/7, using all known methods both physical and psychological to, get this, ABSOLUTELY MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY, AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY BREAK ONE’S PERSONAL TIES TO ANYONE, EVERYONE, ANYTHING, & EVERYTHING BUT THE PARTY, OUTRIGHT DESTROY ONE’S ABILITY TO FIGHT BACK PHYSICALLY &/OR MENTALLY, AND DRUGGING ONE’S MIND TO LOVE THE PARTY SO F***-ING MUCH THAT ONE STILL LOVES THE PARTY EVEN IF THEY AREN’T DRUGGED, THEN they kill them.

Let’s pause for a moment and let that sink in. You couldn’t fight back and/or escape, you couldn’t know how long you’ve been tortured, and you couldn’t even die hating them. It comes to show just how thoroughly the Party thought when it came to staying one step ahead of all threats to their power and ridding them, while brewing as least new threats as possible. It’s very, very creepy, and rightfully so.

But why do this? Why go to all the trouble of making things as, simply put, inhumane as they possibly could? The reason is deeply unsettling: The "Inner" (higher-up) members of the NatSoc, NeoVik, and DeWor Parties believed that the power they had, despite primarily being political, was also that over man; and, in their horrible, twisted minds, the ONLY way to assert that power is not to make them just obey, but to make them suffer as horribly as possible without outright killing them.

As a whole, the progression of culture and all of its elements all around the world had ceased. In fact, it appeared to be going backwards in specific areas. After the mid-1980’s, though, the Party in all 3 states made great strides to completely and utterly destroy culture as we know it.

They had already cut the ties between man & man, man & woman, woman & woman, and parent & child by that point; no one dared trust another person, whoever it may be.

So they used that as a base, and they proceeded to ridabolish art.

Then complex, historical, handwritten quality literature

Then the enjoyment of the process(es) of life

Then poetry and any music that didn’t fall within Party standards

Then they tried the sex orgasm (and nearly succeeded. “Nearly” being the key word, although reproduction would still occur once per year to keep populations stable)

Then curiosity

Finally, since they no longer had any need of it, science.

Little did anyone at the time realize, however, that getting rid of that last one would have long-lasting, dire consequences…

PART 4: Mistakes, and Environmental Impact.

Most people nowadays realize that Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia kept the war going far longer than it should have lasted, and that is undeniably true for multiple reasons.

For one, it was impossible for any one power to win, even if 2 were theoretically in alliance.

Oceania was (w/the possible possible exception of South Africa) physically separated from the other powers by water.

Eurasia was too big for a foreign army to occupy effectively.

Eastasia was by far the most populated, and those people were more than ready to die for their Emperor.

Secondly, the military officers of all 3 powers were utterly incompetent; so much that they couldn’t get anything done most of the time. This, however, was done intentionally, as the leaders of the Party simultaneously intended on prolonging the war, whilst at the same time moving towards winning it.

An example of this is the fact that any officer that proved intelligent enough on the battlefield to possibly turn the tide of the war to their nation’s favor, no matter how deep within their nation’s cult of personality they were, soon got arrested by the TP & its counterparts, tried for manufactured crimes, and executed. As for the reason why that was, aside from blatant paranoia, I will explain later.

Thirdly, and most obviously, the consequences of such a long modern war both directly & indirectly led to the Party’s downfall.

For those of you reading this who SOMEHOW don’t know what I mean*****, or want to have a more thorough answer, I’ll explain:

The production of war materials used up resources that might have otherwise been used to raise the living standards of the Low. Since we've established that the (Inner) Party did NOT want this at all costs, they diverted (this is just personal speculation) around 95% of all extracted materials to the war effort, with all 5% remaining used to maintain the basic needs of the Oceanic / Eurasian / Eastasian populations for the sake of keeping them uneducated, ignorant, and oppressed. This, which hardly needs to be written again, had the effect of leaving all 3 populations (except for the Inner Party, but they weren't much better off), and that of the DZ, in perpetual, steadily increasing poverty. Little did the proles and most Outer Party members know, however, was that the war (on land) was now being fought not with massive armies, but with small, specialized teams******, and that most of the resources were being used up and discarded wastefully, resulting in much of the DZ being littered with craters, gun magazines, and ration boxes carelessly at battle sites.

In extension to this, all 3 nations used pre-industrial agricultural methods to feed their large populations (especially Eastasia’s); and only a fraction of the harvest was actually used (consumed) due to unnecessary "war" rationing, the rest being burnt, leaving the majority of mankind on the constant brink of starvation.

Furthermore, the methods of extracting most resources were harmful to the environment. For example, wood being harvested by Oceania from the Amazon went mostly unused right through The Collapse, only ever being used for the butts of rifles and decks of Floating Fortresses. Oh yeah, and the trees cut down were never replanted or replaced.

The act of manufacturing goods also required lots of coal to power the factories both in and out of the DZ, which resulted in coal reserves nearly everywhere being scraped to the very bottom to maximize the amount of coal mined, with the environment of the surrounding area being irrevocably poisoned by runoff, polluted by waste material and debris, and scarred by the actual mining. Similar things happened to areas around oil rigs.

On top of that, there was only so much stuff in the ground, and that included, what, oil, coal, Iron, Tungsten, Copper; all of which were vital materials to wage the war (and it remains so to this day, alongside Silicon & small amounts of Gold used in electronics)!

Most importantly, though, the very act of burning coal & oil in the factories and most power plants released CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) into the atmosphere en masse. The thing about CO2 is that it is effective at absorbing heat from sunlight. And with so much of it being released as a gas within a span of 75-85 years, it comes as no surprise to us now that it caused the earth to start heating up to its current temperatures.

It wasn’t warming up all that much at first, but the rate of temperature increase began to increase exponentially by 1990, passing +10 Celsius above pre-Industrial levels about a year later. After +20 C was passed in 2019, global warming became like a runaway train, as the natural checks & balances that countered the increase of CO2 failed and, in fact, started hastening the process at an exponential rate, namely...

1: The polar Ice Caps, which reflected the sunlight that would otherwise have been trapped by CO2, melted away into the dark ocean waters, which then absorbed the would-be-reflected sunlight;

2: Said oceans became increasingly acidic due to CO2 buildup, further increasing its effectiveness 3-fold at absorbing more of it (and killing nearly everything the navies relied on for food);

3: The already rapidly disappearing forests became unable to soak up enough CO2 to balance it out, and became Carbon sources instead of the Carbon sinks that mother nature intended them to be, as the increasingly dry environments they reside in became perfect birthing grounds to ever more ferocious & common wildfires that burnt what forests that weren’t cut down for wood, thus releasing MORE CO2;

4: The increasing heat melted away the Oceanian(Canadian) and Eurasian(Siberian) Permafrost, releasing ungodly amounts of Methane into the air. Methane, like CO2, also absorbs heat from sunlight... except that it is far, FAR more efficient at doing so, further increasing the earth’s heat carrying capacity 8-fold.

Lastly, the entire system was self-destructive and inefficient by its own design. Just think of it, the 3 hyperpowers were doing all of the following simultaneously:

Surveying all Party members (60 million in total in Oceania alone) 24/7;

Constantly rewriting history to the Party’s will by rewriting historical documents on paper, possibly hundreds of times per year;

Always running a False-Flag operation to weed out unloyal Party members;

"Fixing" dissidents through ReEducation (which takes months, or even years);

Killing said dissidents only days (sometimes weeks) after they finish ReEducation, disregarding all the time, effort, and resources put into the process which tens of thousands of people in all 3 superstates were going through at any given moment;

Completely erasing all evidence of a person’s very existence and accomplishments after they die, regardless if they are from the Inner Party, Outer Party, or a Prole by editing paper documents that so much as mention said deceased person only once, destroying all physical records/documents that concern only him/her, and reprinting photos so he/she is not in them;

Running hundreds of machines that pump out countless books, films, and porn material to entertain/distract the Proles;

Under-harvesting crops to keep the world on the brink of starvation, wasting soil as a consequence (and releasing MORE CO2 by burning the unused crops);

Constantly cutting down excessive numbers of trees for war materials & paper used for official Party records/documents without replenishing the natural supply;

Burning hundreds of thousands of tons of coal (and sometimes oil) every single day to power the surveillance system, prole-distracting machines and electric lighting;

Putting the peoples of the DZ into excessive amounts of forced manual labor for dangerously long and possibly lethal time spans, disregarding their health, families, physical conditions, and psychological well-being.

Fighting a war that NO ONE OF THREE SIDES CAN WIN, and should’ve ended long ago,

Extracting more resources for the war than necessary and not replenishing their supplies,

Wasting said excess resources by blowing them up, burning them, and sinking them to the bottom of the ocean, never to be recovered in any instance (and, I don’t know, maybe recycled and/or reused?);

Let’s say the Party wanted to do this for 1,000 years, non-stop. Now do the math, and calculate how much stuff that would require.

You will find that to keep this all going would require a near-infinite amount of resources to be spent up. On a realistic scale, the Earth would run out of its own resources after about only 100 years.

And since the Party never had any plans to explore any other planetary bodies nearby that they could feasibly reach (such as Mars or Venus) or even anywhere farther than 500 km in altitude, not even somewhere as close as our own Moon, and it occurs to one that the world order made by Oligarchical Collectivism had to inevitably end due to:

1: running out of materials to wage war & maintain their grip on their civilians, and/or

2: making the Earth uninhabitable, via destroying the biosphere and the release of excessive CO2 and Methane.

It now becomes obvious to everyone, reading this or not, that both consequences listed above are almost exactly what ensued since 1975, particularly in the years of 2015-2050.

However, even before things went out of control, there were ominous (if subtle at first) signs at what was happening. The last whale over 10 ft long died in 1975. The Caribbean and European beaches were becoming the single, long Taji they are today by 1984. The Polar Ice Caps were melting faster and faster every year (overhead ICBM duels half the time certainly didn’t help). And the Black, Aral, and Chad Seas were drying up at alarming rates, sometimes due to irrigation projects, always leaving a giant salt flat in their place.

Hurricanes and other forms of destructive weather and other forms of severe weather also got increasingly more powerful, as the oceans and moisture and air moisture that fed them kept getting warmer, particularly after 2001. The hurricane that hit New Orleans in 2005, which we will be calling “Katrina” for simplicity, was devastating for the Mississippi Delta region and took 1,833 lives, mostly because it had flawed and/or outdated flood barriers to deal with the sheer amount of water carried by the storm. The one that hit the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico in 2017, “Maria”, was more powerful, more destructive (managing to take out the island’s ENTIRE power grid), and took 9,291 lives, due to the fact that the sea was warmer than it was 12 years earlier. In 2020, a Typhoon, “Nina”, ran straight into the heart of Japan, taking even more lives than Maria did just 3 years prior (I unfortunately don't have exact numbers, but estimates range from 3,500-10,250 dead.)

Wildfires also became both increasingly common and destructive in California, Central America, the remnants of the Amazon, Indonesian, and Congo Rainforests, Southern China, Siberia, and Central Europe; floods in Florida, lower Airstrip One (England), Holland, Northeast Italy, the Nile & Mississippi Deltas, the Bengal region, Eastern China and practically all coastal regions; and droughts, resource shortages, and famine became increasingly common just about everywhere.

And yet, the Party did absolutely nothing about it. WHY?

The answer to that, and to the Hyperpowers’ … *cough* intentionally incompetent *cough* ludicrous military attitude, are one and the same, and may come as a bit of a surprise.

What most people today don’t fully understand is that all Inner Party members, when examined as a whole, regardless if they were Oceanic, Eurasian, or East Asian, were a group of stubborn, psychopathic, and sociopathic mad men excessively drunk in their power that both literally and metaphorically ran the world. To justify all their ungodly amounts of hypocrisy and excessive historical editing, they primarily used a psychological tool called Doublethink, which is taking 2 or more beliefs that contradict one another, and holding both as true simultaneously. Using Doublethink, the Party changed the truth at will; and if historical records contradicted whatever the Party claims at any time, then those records must be false and need to be replaced.

This explains both of the questions above, as well as other things, such as the names & respective purposes of the Oceanic Ministries / Eurasian Houses / Eastasian Committees.

The government branches of Plenty deal with starvation; Truth with lies; Peace with war; Love with torture. It also explains why Eurasia & Oceania essentially trashed everything Socialism stood for; and they claimed to do so for Socialism’s sake.

Doublethink, however, combined with the extreme narrowing of vocabulary caused by Language Control, also critically hindered the Party’s ability to think straight about serious, long-term problems, such as the CO2 buildup, and the oncoming of droughts, floods, extreme weather, and resource shortages. E.G., when Katrina happened, the Party thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime anomaly. When Maria happened, Katrina, in the Party’s eyes, never happened, and viewed it the same way they did Katrina; Maria was an anomaly. The same thing happened when Nina ransacked Tokyo, and when an abnormally huge wildfire annihilated what forests were left in the Pyrenees Mountain range in 2009-2010. As these became the status quo, the Party began to drop the ‘anomaly excuse’ in the final years before The Collapse, now claiming to have predicted these disasters before they happened, but by then it was far too late.

This begs the question: Was the world that they created, the Party’s legacy, the world of hardships we live in today, avoidable? I would say “Yes”, BUT, there’s something the Party did that basically sealed their fate, and created ours.

Remember when I said that they completely got rid of science? Well, by doing that, they also demolished ANY chance of avoiding their demise.

Specifically, science was the doorway to

1: More efficient & environment-friendly ways of extracting resources;

2: Alternate energy sources (Solar, Wind, advanced Hydroelectric, Geothermal, controlled Nuclear fission, Cold Fusion);

3: Understanding the consequences of biodiversity loss, Greenhouse Gases (I.E. CO2 & Methane), and global warming;

and by destroying most (though fortunately, not all) prior knowledge of these topics & purging the scientists and professionals who specialized in these areas (and then purging the purgers), the Party essentially blinded, deafened, & numbed themselves to the long-term consequences of their actions, and thus had NO f***-ing idea what they were doing to themselves and to the biosphere.

It wasn’t the final nail in the coffin, though; It is more accurate to say it was about half of them in total.

To summarize: Due to ridding of the sciences, over-reliance on Doublethink plus the effects of Newspeak & its counterparts, and the consequences of continuing the war longer than it ought to have lasted, the Party metaphorically dug its own grave trying to stop the cycle of revolt, and yet never saw its own demise being handed to them. Not by the Low (i.e. the Proles & Slaves) and/or the Middle (Outer Party), as they feared, but due to unwittingly provoking forces beyond mankind’s control.

The rubicon had already been passed around 1985, and it was all downhill from then on out...

PART 5: The Collapse

By the mid-2040’s, the temperature had increased up to +3.5 0C pre-Industrial levels. Wildfires, droughts, and floods caused by the heat wreck havoc on their respective areas. Proles, along with a few Party members fall victim as a result, with the death toll in the former group reaching the MILLIONS. Resource shortages were severe, and endemic. The inescapable, globe-spanning nightmare labyrinth made by the Party was crumbling.

What finally made it all give way is the coal industry (if one can call it that) flatlining in March 2050.

Without anything to power the factories, production of war materials ground to a halt.

In the DZ, the local inhabitants haven’t entirely forgotten what things were like before the war, and soon, uprisings occurred just about everywhere where there’s a large enough amount of people to successfully overpower the occupying armies (regardless of which nation’s it is; to them, they’re the same ruthless overlord with different names) and sack them.

From Lagos to Bombay, from Mosul to Brazzaville, the zone of anarchy is filled by a multitude of newly independent nations. Revolt soon spreads to Oceanic South Africa, as disillusioned Proles stormed Party areas within population centers, establishing an independent Union state in what’s left of Cape Town.

There were also the 2 fragments of the pre-Party world, Ethiopia & Egypt, which revealed themselves to the formerly oppressed peoples as soon as they noticed the lack of Oceanic and Eurasian garrisons and put 2 & 2 together (and got 4). The former isn’t the larger empire it was when demolished by invading Oceanic & Eurasian armies, though, as Ethiopia just controls its mountainous homeland and the Horn of Africa, opting to let the peoples in its former territories govern themselves. Egypt, OTOH, broke out of southern Arabia, its militia beelining to Mecca, Jerusalem, Cairo, and down the Nile River (well, more like Creek) by January 2051, and then slowly spread its forces to cover northern Arabia and Mesopotamia. However, the new sultun found reclaiming the rest of the former caliphate impossible: Eurasia held Anatolia and ethnically Kurdish lands up north; going west into the Sahara and former Libya was too dangerous (read: hot) for people to venture, unless they hugged the Alliah-damned Meditarranian coast; Ethiopia was roughly to the south-southeast, and it soon warned not to attempt to annex the weak nations that popped up in former Sudan; and eastern expansion was directly cut off by a revitalized, albeit downsized Iranian (Persian) sultanate.

Almost immediately after the loss of the DZ, the 3 variants of The Party scrambled to secure and centralize what resources they still had. However, for various reasons depending on the Hyperpower they controlled, they found it was nigh-impossible.

Because of the fact that Eastasia was actually the combined governments of the EACPS members, under the somewhat benevolent guide of the Empire of Japan, complete centralization of resources proved to be an issue because of the divides between Eastasian DeWor Parties.

China wanted the most resources out of all the nations in the Sphere, using its gargantuan population to justify this.

Japan wanted the most resources too, since it was the (now de-facto) leader of the Sphere, and all the other nations (except Nepal and Siam) were originally its puppet / satellite states.

Manchuria was stuck in the crossfire between the 2 largest members and could do absolutely nothing about it.

Indonesia simply wanted OUT of the Sphere from the moment it was forced into it; especially now that it’s forests and agricultural regions had been completely set ablaze/cut down by Japanese & Chinese loggers/flooded out by monsoon storm surges, and thus had been left with nothing but a population slowly starving to death. But neither Japan nor China were willing to cut their leash on the former Dutch East Indies.

Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet never needed many resources, and knew that staying in the EACPS any longer would be unbeneficial in the future, so they promptly cut ties with Tokyo, with Burma soon following their lead & doing the same. All of these nation's eventually abandoned Death Worship as a whole by 2058.

Siam also wanted to bail out of the Sphere as well for the same reasons, but a sizable portion of its people wanted to stay in.

Adding to the already complicated situation, the occupied areas of the Philippines and Indochina had become restless; meanwhile one Chinese province, Xinjiang, was pushing hard towards independence; Korea, part of Japan, was pushing for it even harder and had been doing so for much longer (specifically, since 1910).

End Result: a massive clusterf**k of confused fighting. The Eastasian Civil War was a multi-sided conflict, with Japanese vs Chinese vs Siamese vs other Siamese vs occupied Filipinos vs occupied Indochinese (Vietnamese, Cambodians & Laos peoples) vs Indonesians vs Manchurians vs Koreans vs Turks. ...Needless to say, that’s a lot of multi-sided battles for historians to sort through.

As Eastasia lapsed into violence, Oceania was running into its own problems. The truth about large countries is that they are expensive for their governments to maintain, both literally and in terms of logistics. The part of Oceania in the Americas was unable to efficiently distribute its resources to its vital areas (e.g., cities, other populated areas, farms) because of its own size. Add that to the largely known truth that infrastructure (mostly concentrated in North America, Mexico, and the coastlines of South America) had never been built up, and in most cases never even been properly maintained since 1940, and it was pretty clear in hindsight that the status quo that held for 107 years was on its final legs. The remaining non-American states/territories (a system carried on from the USA), meanwhile, soon had to fend for themselves.

The Party’s statement that it knows all finally proved false when another Category 5 Hurricane slammed into what was once (and is again nowadays) known as the Gulf of Mexico in June 2050, and caught just about everyone off guard in such a way that it was pretty obvious, even to the normally oblivious & unintelligent Proles (at least in the region affected), that the NatSoc Party didn’t see it coming. The areas hard hit by the storm were cut off by the Party, and any survivors were left to their own devices.

Day-to-day power outages, caused by the lack of coal to run the power plants, allowed dissident members of the Outer Party and a handful of intelligent military officers (all of whom realized that the system was rapidly failing and managed to avoid getting Purged / captured, tortured, brainwashed, then executed) to get together in the area surrounding New York City, and arouse the impoverished, starving, and ever more disillusioned Proles into unrest without getting caught (since all the Telescreens, cameras, and microphones were rendered useless without electricity). When the Party finally did notice and went in to deal with the ‘Thoughtcriminals’, this finally sparked a revolt.

On July 3, 2050, the events of South Africa repeated in Manhattan and the Bronx, and the Cycle appeared to be starting again. However, instead of the rebelling Party members and military personnel (the new Middle) taking over, instead they gave the Proles (the Low) the task of making the new government themselves, whatever they preferred; the Middle, who actually knew better than even the Inner Party in this case, would instead take the sidelines and let the Low handle things from there, though they would sometimes turn to the Middle for advice. With this, the kingdom of New York, a constitutional monarchy, was established, centered in Manhattan.

The uprising soon spread to Brooklyn, Big Brothers (now Queens) and the other city districts, and proceeded to rapidly spread up the valley, along the coast, and inland (albeit the latter at a slower pace). The former Oceanian states within the area of the spreading revolt would use New York as a model to make their own independent governments; though there are exceptions, such as my home country of Kentucky, a commonwealth / direct democracy, something that’s rare these days, considering the Party erased most evidence of democracy’s very existence during their reign. In just 19 days, it had covered all of North America east of the state of Ontario and the Mississippi River.

About the time it reached this extent, a separate revolt occurred in London, Airstrip One, except this one was from within the local IngSoc Party. There, around the 22nd of July, a local blackout had allowed a member of the Outer Party who was in midst of ReEducation to escape the Ministry of Love building, into the Prole areas. Members of the TP that were dispatched to recapture him, as I am told, were stopped by a mass of Proles that had been displaced when the Thames barrier, which protected London from storm surges, was overcome by a particularly strong storm not too long prior; apparently they were so desperate for food that they attacked anyone who looked like they were hoarding rations for themselves (i.e., the Thought Police).

Unsurprisingly, things escalated quickly, and resulted in the Ministry buildings getting burnt into hollow shells, their occupants cremated alive alive en masse and their floors caved in*******. It soon spread to cover all 3 states on the island of Britain: Airstrip One, Wales, and Scotland. And because Britain was separated physically from the rest of Oceania by water, loyal soldiers and TP units stationed there had no backup so to speak.

The same went for the states of Airstrips Two through Seven (Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, Hawaii, New Zealand, and Madagascar respectively), which, along with the islands of the Caribbean, fell in similar manners not too long afterwards.

By that point, the revolt in New York had spread westwards to the Rockies, and a democratic coup took place in Canberra, the members of which promptly declared Australia as an independent nation. New Guinea had been overrun by Indonesian troops and had been pulled into the Eastasian Civil War, thus confining Oceanic remnants to the Americas.

This too wouldn’t last, as by September, underground Latin American resistance groups, REAL ones this time, had caught word that the Party was imploding under its dead weight, and thus took initiative to hasten that process by liberating Mexico, the Amazon, and cities like Riodejaneiro, Buenosaires, and Lima. (The Party already KNEW of their existence, but didn’t wipe them out, and for a good reason: they were particularly violent in their activities, which gave the Latinos something to fear.) By the end of November, Oceania had ceased to exist.

By then, the states and territories that had made up Oceania had became small, independent nations, such as my home nation, Kentucky. The only exceptions were Amazonia, which comprises what used to be the Northwest, Northeast, and Southern Amazon Territories; and Australia, as mentioned before, which is 1 continent-country. Within a few years, though, the states that had made up the larger pre-Oceania nations had re-organized with the help of the aforementioned rebel groups, such as Mexico, La Plata (Argentina), Brazil (minus Amazonia), and Peru. Interestingly, most states that constituted the former United States of America and Commonwealth of Canada have formed a loose alliance/friendship known as the North American Union, with each member having a representative in a meeting in Denver, Colorado once per year.

When Moscow received word of Oceania’s dissolution, Eurasia (predictably) was ecstatic, despite the fact it was just barely holding itself together. With its only 2 rivals either dissolved or in a state of civil war, the NeoVek Party declared they had won “The Great Patriotic War”, and had defeated Oceania & Eastasia themselves, going as far as to claim the British Isles for themselves. Soon enough, its soldiers were ordered to prepare for invasions of China, Manchuria, Korea, and a newly-independent Iran.

This, of course, was not to be; the Eurasian military disobeyed the Kremlin’s orders. When an army, regardless of how bad it is at fighting, has been at war for a really long time (80+ years) and that war suddenly ends with their country in shambles, and then their government declares war on multiple other countries for no reason whatsoever, at least a portion of that army’s not going to be very compliant. And in this case, neither were the local governments of some individual SSRs, specifically the Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, Celtic, French, Italian, & German republics. It's as if the Inner Party ignored the fact that their ideology, Neo-Bolshevism, was failing economically and fundamentally. And the war against Eastasia & Oceania was over; why should they continue to put up with higher commands from the opposite side of the European continent?

When Moscow began pressuring them into submission, as it had done many times before, they succeeded from the Union. Once done, the new countries denounced Neo-Bolshevism as “a defunct ideology,” abandoned it, and began to severely limit use of Doublethink among politicians. Not long after that, the Kingdom of England (formerly Airstrip One) made contact with Paris by radio, and established ties with France and the others. Though it comes as no surprise now, citizens of all 6 nations were deeply unsettled to find that nearly all political, economic, and cultural elements of both NatSoc and NeoVek were completely identical, and correctly made the assumption that the same went for DeWor / Obliteration of the Self in Eastasia.

Eurasia, though, was not going to let Western Europe run off so easily. On February 19, 2051, it declared war on the breakaway SSRs.

It did not sit well with most civilians, be it Proles, Party members, or soldiers, to declare war on people that used to be their comrades and/or friends less than a month prior. Even if it did, a century-old, crumbling infrastructure network prevented troops loyal to the regime from reaching their destinations.

After another heatwave struck from the Mediterranean in March and killed about 10 million people, and the Party once again claimed to have saw it coming, the people finally had enough of their increasingly ridiculous claims. On April 5, 2051, the Polish, Latvian, Lithuanian, & Estonian SSRs declared independence, and from there, the others succeeded like dominoes within the span of a month, alongside several ASSR's within several SSR's. Only the Russian SFSR (which had a bunch of holes in it from several ASSR's (E.G., Chechnya) leaving) and the Belorussian SSR remained, but by then, the Party had seen the writing on the wall. In a dramatic climax, on June 1, nearly all remaining members of the NeoVek Party committed mass suicide, all but officially signaling the death of Eurasia. From the rubble came 3 new states; Belarus, Russia, and Siberia, the latter two separated by the Ural Mountains.

Eastasia continued to be a dead zone, and not a word was hard from any of its members (aside from Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, and Burma, which bailed before sh*t hit the fan) for another 2 years. Then, on July 9, 2054, Xinjiang, now East Turkestan, officially made contact with officials in Mongolia. Messages over the radio from Siam were heard from Burma soon after. (The Anti-Japan Siamese faction there won out.) By October, the Civil War was over; after a coup by a renegade faction in the Japanese DeWor Party, a ceasefire was announced and the EACPS was officially dissolved, with the nations of Korea, Vietnam, Lagos, the Philippines, and Cambodia gaining full independence. Indonesia & China, meanwhile, had shattered into a number of smaller island-countries / tribes / former provinces.

EPILOGUE: The Legacy of Oligarchical Collectivism

The global average temperature as of January 1, 2093 is 20 0C, which is +5 0 pre-Industrial levels.

There is at least one extreme weather event going on around the world at any given moment.

Many areas, such as North Africa, Southern California, Indonesia, the Great Lakes region, much of Florida, Bengal, the Amazon, and Holland are virtually uninhabitable, due to desertification, deforestation, pollution, and flooding.

The Amazon and Congo Rainforests were nearly wiped out, but have begun to recover in the last 2 decades.

Efforts into researching renewable / efficient energy sources have nearly always been fruitful, and have almost entirely replaced Fossil fuels, with the remainder of coal plants still running to be decommissioned when Cold Fusion reactors become widespread by 2105.

Biodiversity has severely dropped, with most fish and Polar-roaming species now extinct.

Human population rose from 1,500 million in 1935 to 2,300 million at our peak in 2018, before steeply declining mid-century and leveling out at just 400 million around 2077.

A nearly bottomless well of information withheld from the population at large by the Party has been uncovered, and has been useful in helping humanity & the biosphere recover from The Collapse, which doubled as one of Society and an ELE (Extinction Level Event) for the environment.

An unspoken agreement between all countries on this world we share has been made that it is humanity’s responsibility to take care of what’s left of the biosphere, and be careful to not harm the Environment beyond a certain extent whenever war is carried out. As well as to ban telescreens and widespread use of cameras and microphones for surveillance purposes.

The liberal arts have undergone a second renissance, with both old and new elements/types of art (cubism, art deco, realism, graffiti), literature (satire, the hero’s journey, visual novels, manga), music (classical, orchestral, digital, “rock ‘n roll”), and sports (football [aka “soccer” in former Oceania], baseball, cricket, paintball) emerging from all sorts of places.

Racial tensions &/or divisions almost completely dissipated during the Party’s rule, as they let people of all races (black or caucasian, Polish or Uzbek, etc.) into their ranks. Their idea was that everyone suffered equally. Once the Party ceased to exist, it had left a sense of unity among people who would otherwise be considered “racist”. Religion, on the other hand, has made a dramatic comeback……

Global standards of living have steadily increased throughout former areas of the DZ, and more rapidly in areas of the former hyperpowers. Electric cars are widespread, as are water purifiers where they’re needed, and people have a bit more than enough to feed them.

The History of the World Order Made by Oligarchical Collectivism.

PART 1: Origins of the World Order

Throughout history after the Neolithic Era (until recent decades), society has been divided into 3 main groups, in a pyramid hierarchical structure, each with their own unique goals.

The High, those in power, had intentions to stay in power indefinitely;

The Middle, subservants to the High, had intentions of replacing the High; and...

The Low, the largest of the 3 groups, wanted a society in which everyone is equal.

Every so often, the Middle would overthrow the High (due to their oppressive nature) with the Low’s assistance, become the new High, and proceed to keep the Low exactly where they were beforehand (again, using oppression). Meanwhile, a new Middle would grow out of one or both of the other groups, and this cycle of overthrowing oppressive governments and replacing them with equally (if not more so) oppressive ones would begin again.

Over time, however, people from all 3 groups began to make out this pattern, and by the middle of the second decade of the 20th Century, a new Middle was at work to stop it.

Their goal was different than their predecessors in 3 fundamental ways.

First, they were against Human equality. In the past, the Middle promised this to the Low to get their support, and in recent cases, such as in the aftermath of the American Revolution, started keeping their promise to the Low and actually started working towards equal rights for all citizens, though there was certainly still a long way to go. However, doing this meant a more even distribution of wealth throughout all 3 groups. The problem was that one’s wealth was, in most cases, what defined a person’s status of power. Without a significant disproportionate spread of wealth concentrated towards the High, the Middle feared, it was only a matter of time before the educated Low realized that the High served very little purpose in a society where all people were equal, regardless of race &/or religion, and would abolish the hierarchical structure. Thus, human equality became something to be averted, rather than be strived for.

Secondly, the Middle at the time intended to, once they had ascended to power, permanently stop the cycle. This would have been impossible had they been in any earlier time in history. However, the coming of the machine in the mid-19th Century, and the use of two little somethings known as propaganda and nationalism, on a massive scale had given the Middle the tools they needed to make this happen. They would stop the cycle by keeping the Low distracted with entertainment, making them completely ignorant of their own oppression. The recent invention of the radio made this relatively easy, and even more so once television came around. With the Low not knowing they are being oppressed, they cannot revolt, securing the to-be High in their position.

Last, unlike the Pharaohs, Caesars, and numerous kings before them, they subconsciously knew what they were doing, and only wanted power. Not wealth, nor luxury, just pure political power. Why? Just to have power! Whilst previous leaders lowered their power in order to appease those they were oppressing (and subsequently caused their own undoing), this incarnation of the middle claimed to know better due to the ability to look back on the mistakes made by past incarnations of the High. Incarnations of the High past thought that one establishes a revolution to safeguard against tyranny, but the current middle realized (or so they thought) that the opposite was true: one establishes the tyranny to safeguard the revolution. Oppression for the sake of oppression, torture for the sake of torture, and power for the sake of power.

As for WHO composed the middle, they were scientists, bureaucrats, teachers, philosophers, soldiers, farmers, and workers from all places within the High and Low. Notable members included Adolf Hitler (Germany), Heinrich Himmler (Germany), Benito Mussolini (Italy), Francisco Franco (Spain), Joseph Stalin (Russia), Ivan Koniev (Russia), Hideki Tojo (Japan), Chiang Kai-shek (China), Mao (China), Jawaharlal Nehru (India), William Pelley (USA), Douglas MacArthur (USA), Richard Nixon (USA) , Oswald Mosley (Britain), Charles de Gaulle (France), Francois Mitterand (France), Kemal Ataturk (Turkey), Daniel Francois Malan (South Africa), Haile Selassie (Ethiopia), Gamal Abdel Nasser (Egypt), Getúlio Vargas (Brazil), Juan Domingo Peron (Argentina), and Plutaco Calles (Mexico).

Coming together and formally recognizing their long-term goals was the easy part for the Middle. The hard part: the act of actually rising to power.

Timing, though, was once again in their favor. A conflict on the sale of which had never before been seen broke out in August 1914, commonly known as The Great World War. It lasted over 4 years, wreaking havoc on the political structures of the defeated nations, as well as the economies of all participating nations except for the United States of America (USA). The rest of the global economy then went into a frenzy of, to put it simply, making too much stuff for people who could only buy so much, and collapsed in its entirety in October 1929.

The result was that people in many countries wanted governments that would do something about the crises that the current High (unintentionally, granted) had caused, in addition to an explosion in nationalism worldwide. The Middle everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE, seized the opportunity and came under control of nearly every country in the world by 1935.

That is NOT to say that they were all in agreement with one another. Members of the Middle, now the High, almost always trusted one another with the deepest suspicion. Purges usually occurred within the High to weed out former middle members marked down & out as “counter-revolutionaries”, “spies”, “traitors”, “impostors” and the like, and usually charged with manufactured, uncommitted crimes against the state (though in rare cases, these charges were not entirely false).

And this is not mentioning international relations once the former Middle came to power. During the first 3 decades after the High (which we will be calling ‘the Party’ from here on) rose to power, countries often went to war because either the leaders of 2 or more nations just couldn’t stand the sight of each other (e.g., U.S.S.R. with Germany and Italy), or alternatively for reasons ranging from cultural (e.g., Japan absorbing China) to just absolutely ridiculous (e.g., Brazil and Argentina over a rugby game). The winning side usually fully annexed the defeated into their own country and had their leaders (mock) tried and executed; though in later years they were drugged into becoming enthusiastic supporters of the winner.

PART 2: The Early Years.

From 1938-1941, much of Continental Europe was partitioned between The Kingdom of Italy (A.K.A. the Neo-Roman Empire) (ruled by Benito Mussolini), and The 3rd German Reich (ruled by the ‘Nazi’ Party led by Adolf Hitler) & its subsequently established puppet states. This, however, wouldn’t last too long, as after the latter attempted, and failed, to invade the Soviet Union (which had already absorbed the Baltic States) in 1944, within 5 years the “communist” bear had conquered both nations, in addition to neutral Finland, Romania, and Hungary. Josef Stalin’s conquering spree only ended when the Red Army failed a naval invasion of the British Isles (the UK led by Oswald Mosley of the English-Socialist Party / Ingsoc, as Primer Minister), mostly due to logistic problems and a sh*tty navy.

When Russia conquered (mainland) Europe, the latter’s overseas colonies were thrown into chaos. The French Gov.-in-exile, which had already set itself up as Free France in its former colonial territories in 1941, conquered most of Africa. (It was a relatively easy job, as nearly all of the continent was in total anarchy.) The only rival power in the region was the Ethiopian Empire, and their relationship was a rare one of friendliness. Italian Libya was conquered by an Arabian-Megalomaniac-ruled Egypt, as was Mesopotamia, the Arabian Peninsula, Persia, and Afghanistan. The British Raj declared independence from the British Empire as the Indian State, and overran Burma & the Maldives to secure itself against any retaliatory invasion to reclaim it.

The remnants of the declining Britain and its remaining commonwealth nations / members (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa) desperately merged with the USA, “democratically” led by William Pelley of the Silver Shirts. This merger, which not only included the Union of Britain (the monarchy had been overthrown by Ingsoc by that point) and the Commonwealth nations, but also the American allies/satilites/puppet nations that comprised Latin America, formed The National Socialist Union of Oceania in May 1960.

In response to the formation of Oceania, the U.S.S.R. merged with its occupied territories in October 1960, and became The Eurasian Union of Socialist Republics. Eurasia would eventually annex all leftover European nations (Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the Papacy, San Marino, Andorra, Spain, Portugal, and Turkey; in that order) by the end of 1963.

With the invention of the Atomic Bomb, Oceania & Eurasia's predecessors started developing them, and started using them in 1952. The main areas affected by the ensuing Nuclear War were Western Europe, Central Europe, European Russia, and North America (i.e. former USA & Canada). Both sides stopped using them in less of a year, however, after scientists warned of the effects of Nuclear Winter (in the Party’s mind: Nuclear Winter = Fall from power = doubleplusungood). As an upside for the Party on both sides, though, the ruined cities meant they could assert their control easier and more effectively than prior.

Events in Asia ran concurrent to those in Europe. The Empire of Japan, after more than a decade of tireless fighting, defeated & puppeted a fragmented, defunct Republic of China in 1947, and set its sights towards Indonesia. Whilst that was being done, Japan, its puppets in China, Manchuria, Tibet, and Bhutan, in addition to its ally Siam*, formed an economic & military alliance known as The East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. India would be an observer, and the sphere's ranks would later be joined by Nepal (willingly) and Indonesia (mandatorily, after it was conquered and puppeted by Japan in 1954).

This was possible because US President Pelly made a trade agreement with Japanese Prime Minister Hideki Tojo in 1941, in which the USA (later Oceania) would give the Archipelago nation all the oil & fuel it needed, in exchange for Japan promising to “not go about messing with”, as Pelly phrased it, American (the Philippines, Midway Island), British (Australia, Hong Kong, New Guinea), and French (Indochina) colonial possessions/Commonwealth nations in the region. Both Tojo and Emperor Hirohito adhered to it… for 24 years, as whatwith China & Indonesia’s vast resources easily accessible, the agreement became obsolete by 1952.

Since conquest was still in Eastasia’s heart (it would be inaccurate to call them merely ‘Japanese’ any longer, as Koreans, Chinese, Tibetans, Siamese, Nepalese, and Indonesians who all swore loyalty to Hirohito had found their way into major government positions within a decade), plans were made to invade Oceanic Malaysia, North Borneo, Philippines, New Guinea, & Australia, and Eurasian Mongolia (absorbed by the USSR in 1954) & Siberia. With these areas’ resources, East Asia would be the world’s dominant power.

Justification for this came from a Chinese ideology that roughly translates into English as “Death Worship,” but would perhaps be more accurately known as “Obliteration of the Self.” In it, the lives of individual people serve no meaningful purpose, and the only thing that has any real meaning in life is the Government. Tojo’s interpretation of it was along the lines of “The EACPS’s ultimate purpose is to lead humanity to a higher plane of existence by any means necessary,” so he founded the aptly named Death Worship (DeWor) Parties of Japan, China, Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, Manchuria, Siam, and Indonesia on this principal.

In 1965, Eastasia declared war on Oceania and Eurasia, immediately invading Malaya, North Borneo, and Siberia (via Vladivostok). Eurasian territory east of the Amur River was successfully overrun, and the Philippines & Midway were conquered via naval invasion, but from there, Eastasian military progress stalled. The combined area of the Russian S.F.S.R. east of the Urals and the Mongolian S.S.R. proved to be more than a little too vast for Eastasian troops to effectively cover and defend, while simultaneously New Guinea, let alone Australia, proved themselves too well defended to be invaded by a foreign power.

Meanwhile, Free France had its eyes set on Oceanic South Africa as its first conquest in over a decade. Seeing Oceania distracted by Eastasia, it also declared war.

In hindsight, this decision was… well, stupid and, to put it blatantly, suicidal. Free France’s armies were poorly trained, and it was technologically behind the 3 warring nations. Thus, unsurprisingly, instead of South Africa being conquered from Oceanian rule, the opposite happened, and Oceanic forces ransacked Free France as a result. The large island of Madagascar even got annexed.

Oceania’s armies then continued into neutral Ethiopia, obliterating all kingdom territory but the core highlands and the Horn of Africa** within 10 months. The kingdom held on, however, and managed to ride out the perpetual war using guerilla tactics to dissuade Oceanic and Eurasian soldiers from finishing off the African Lion.

Similarly, Eurasia declared war on Free France and The Egyptian Caliphate, hastening the collapse of the former as forces crossed the Strait of Gibraltar into Morocco & beyond. Egypt didn’t hold out too long either; despite its armies being up-to-date in terms of technology, said armies, even combined, were far smaller than Eurasia’s. It collapsed in less than a year; though the heir to the former Saudi throne led a successful resistance in southern Arabia that lasted up until the Collapse.

Neither was India safe. In 1968, Oceanic troops landed in the Maldives and Bombay before war was even officially declared. Like Egypt, the Indian military proved no match against Oceania’s. As a result, Delhi sent a distress call to Tokyo, pleading for help; instead, Eastasia declared war on the Indian State, effectively sealing their fate as well as instantly vaporizing any hope for democracy to prevail anywhere in the ENTIRE world. Period.

(... well, at least not anytime soon.)

Burma (Myanmar) was quickly established as another (and ATWT***, the final) member of the Co-Prosperity Sphere.

Strangely, Oceania and Eurasia never stopped their own war between themselves, even though in recent times Eastasia proved explicitly to be a greater threat. Nobody knows a lick about why this was, but the most widely accepted explanation is that the overly-addicted-to-power members of both the Oceanian National Socialist (NatSoc) Party and the Eurasian Neo-Bolshevik (NeoVik) Party were simply 1: too focused on oppressing their own respective peoples, and 2: too stubborn to back down to the other.

Speaking of oppression…

PART 3: Daily life in the World Order

To prevent the cycle of revolt from happening again, the Party (all 3 variants) took greatly enormous and, I am not overstating this, radical measures, the likes of which have never been seen before or since.

The homes of "Outer" Party members (the ‘Middle,’ according to the model in the first PART) in all 3 Hyperpowers were fitted with hidden cameras and/or microphones, which were being monitored almost 24/7 by secret police (called the Thought Police in Oceania; the KGB in Eurasia and the Soviet Union before it; the Divine Watch in Eastasia) from an unknown location. Heck, even their Televisions doubled as cameras (these have since been dubbed “telescreens”).

Children were brainwashed from a young age to be loyal to the Party (whatever it called itself) and love only Big Brother (Pelly) / Elder Brother (Kaganovich) / Eternal Father (Hirohito), and no-one else, with kids of Outer Party members going as far as to spy on their parents for doing as much as simply making an offhand comment about the Party’s policies with the slightest bit of criticism, resulting in countless parents being arrested by the TP / KGB / DW for their actions.

Party members were trained to be paranoid, emotionless machines to work “for the good of the nation/Party” or “to end the war faster”, and such. Because the Party banned the use of automobiles by everyone (sans the Party higher-ups), travel outside of one’s home city was extremely rare, making one’s neighborhood the entire world to newer generations.

The ONLY holiday of any sort all year round was “Hate Week”, which is the 2nd week in July in all 3 Hyperpowers. This is when war fanaticism is at its peak during the year, as Hate Week is used to rally support for the war against [] and [] (depending on where one lived). All other pre-existing holidays, including Christmas, New Year’s, Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Day of the Dead, Valentine’s Day (especially this one), ETC, ETC, were banned and purged from nearly all calendars and historical records by the Party (though some survived, allowing us to know about them).

Simultaneous to this, all 3 Hyperpowers’ vocabularies shrank each year. Each country had their own version of “Language Control”, as people nowadays call it;

Oceania had Newspeak, which was simplified English (“Oldspeak”)****.

Eurasia had a modified form of Esperanto, which was mostly simplified Russian, but also had a (narrowing) variety of Spanish, French, German, Italian, Greek, and Turkish words as well.

East Asia had Japanese, Chinese, and a handful of Korean letters which meanings were constantly changing, altogether disrupting the signifier-signified relationship.

The concept behind these was simple: If one narrows the vocabulary, there would be no words to express rebellious ideas. Because of the resulting breakdown of communication, eventually there would theoretically be no rebellious… well, anything. Of course, the Party knew that this would take a long time to happen, if the NatSoc Party’s date of Newspeak replacing Oldspeak set as far back as the mid-22nd century indicates anything.

Meanwhile, all non-Party members, called Proles (short for Proletariats, who basically functioned as serfs), who make about 75% of all 3 Hyperpowers’ populations, grow up uneducated in mathematics, literature, history, and the liberal arts (music, literature, sports), living in endless, exponentially worsening poverty. They are distracted from their miserable situation by films, porn, and books all made by machines, which falsely taught them that everything in the past was how it was in the present. Effectively, they were made blissfully unaware of their own oppression, just as the Party had planned so long ago.

In “The Disputed Zone” (DZ) (i.e.what used to be Free France, Ethiopia, Egypt, & India), which made up ⅕ of the total human population, everyone living in the area permanently is essentially a slave, regardless of race, religion, and sex. Here, everyone worked 16 hours every day, with no breaks, from the age of 15 up until their deaths at 60 at most, either due to overworking, dehydration, malnourishment, mortal injuries during work, disease, or physical fatigue. Even when a different army sweeps over them, whether or not they are Oceanic, Eurasian, or Eastasian, they still work. Even if they have infants at home needed to be desperately cared for, they still work; Even if one is a woman and is pregnant, they still work; Even if they are sick, they still work; Even if one has physical disabilities, they still work; the occupying forces made sure of this. If they died because of reasons above, their bodies were cremated, their remains unidentified. And even if they were, they would only be identified as numbers, not proper names. Working conditions in general, though, were reminiscent of the early Industrial Revolution, except with notably higher safety standards.

In both the Proles and Slaves, all memories of a time when the world was different slowly died away as past generations died off, which would have eventually left nothing to contradict the Party’s claims, whatever they may be at any given time.

The very existence of the remnants of Ethiopia and Egypt remained a very, very tightly-kept secret on all 3 sides.

Meanwhile, back in the superstates, Party members who don’t fall in line with the rest of the Party are sought after by “The Resistance”, led by ‘Emmanuel Goldstein,’ and usually join. In reality, the Party was playing them like musical instruments, and ‘Emmanuel Goldstein’s’ ‘Resistance’ was simply a ploy to lure out dissidents in the Party. Only a few hours after a dissident signs up for ‘The Resistance’, they are abruptly arrested by the TP / KGB / DW and thrown into ReEducation Centers (repurposed gulags & concentration camps in specific areas of Eurasia), as are parents caught by their children.

There, special Party members proceed to "fix" (read: torture) dissidents 24/7, using all known methods both physical and psychological to, get this, ABSOLUTELY MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY, AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY BREAK ONE’S PERSONAL TIES TO ANYONE, EVERYONE, ANYTHING, & EVERYTHING BUT THE PARTY, OUTRIGHT DESTROY ONE’S ABILITY TO FIGHT BACK PHYSICALLY &/OR MENTALLY, AND DRUGGING ONE’S MIND TO LOVE THE PARTY SO F***-ING MUCH THAT ONE STILL LOVES THE PARTY EVEN IF THEY AREN’T DRUGGED, THEN they kill them.

Let’s pause for a moment and let that sink in. You couldn’t fight back and/or escape, you couldn’t know how long you’ve been tortured, and you couldn’t even die hating them. It comes to show just how thoroughly the Party thought when it came to staying one step ahead of all threats to their power and ridding them, while brewing as least new threats as possible. It’s very, very creepy, and rightfully so.

But why do this? Why go to all the trouble of making things as, simply put, inhumane as they possibly could? The reason is deeply unsettling: The "Inner" (higher-up) members of the NatSoc, NeoVik, and DeWor Parties believed that the power they had, despite primarily being political, was also that over man; and, in their horrible, twisted minds, the ONLY way to assert that power is not to make them just obey, but to make them suffer as horribly as possible without outright killing them.

As a whole, the progression of culture and all of its elements all around the world had ceased. In fact, it appeared to be going backwards in specific areas. After the mid-1980’s, though, the Party in all 3 states made great strides to completely and utterly destroy culture as we know it.

They had already cut the ties between man & man, man & woman, woman & woman, and parent & child by that point; no one dared trust another person, whoever it may be.

So they used that as a base, and they proceeded to ridabolish art.

Then complex, historical, handwritten quality literature

Then the enjoyment of the process(es) of life

Then poetry and any music that didn’t fall within Party standards

Then they tried the sex orgasm (and nearly succeeded. “Nearly” being the key word, although reproduction would still occur once per year to keep populations stable)

Then curiosity

Finally, since they no longer had any need of it, science.

Little did anyone at the time realize, however, that getting rid of that last one would have long-lasting, dire consequences…

PART 4: Mistakes, and Environmental Impact.

Most people nowadays realize that Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia kept the war going far longer than it should have lasted, and that is undeniably true for multiple reasons.

For one, it was impossible for any one power to win, even if 2 were theoretically in alliance.

Oceania was (w/the possible possible exception of South Africa) physically separated from the other powers by water.

Eurasia was too big for a foreign army to occupy effectively.

Eastasia was by far the most populated, and those people were more than ready to die for their Emperor.

Secondly, the military officers of all 3 powers were utterly incompetent; so much that they couldn’t get anything done most of the time. This, however, was done intentionally, as the leaders of the Party simultaneously intended on prolonging the war, whilst at the same time moving towards winning it.

An example of this is the fact that any officer that proved intelligent enough on the battlefield to possibly turn the tide of the war to their nation’s favor, no matter how deep within their nation’s cult of personality they were, soon got arrested by the TP & its counterparts, tried for manufactured crimes, and executed. As for the reason why that was, aside from blatant paranoia, I will explain later.

Thirdly, and most obviously, the consequences of such a long modern war both directly & indirectly led to the Party’s downfall.

For those of you reading this who SOMEHOW don’t know what I mean*****, or want to have a more thorough answer, I’ll explain:

The production of war materials used up resources that might have otherwise been used to raise the living standards of the Low. Since we've established that the (Inner) Party did NOT want this at all costs, they diverted (this is just personal speculation) around 95% of all extracted materials to the war effort, with all 5% remaining used to maintain the basic needs of the Oceanic / Eurasian / Eastasian populations for the sake of keeping them uneducated, ignorant, and oppressed. This, which hardly needs to be written again, had the effect of leaving all 3 populations (except for the Inner Party, but they weren't much better off), and that of the DZ, in perpetual, steadily increasing poverty. Little did the proles and most Outer Party members know, however, was that the war (on land) was now being fought not with massive armies, but with small, specialized teams******, and that most of the resources were being used up and discarded wastefully, resulting in much of the DZ being littered with craters, gun magazines, and ration boxes carelessly at battle sites.

In extension to this, all 3 nations used pre-industrial agricultural methods to feed their large populations (especially Eastasia’s); and only a fraction of the harvest was actually used (consumed) due to unnecessary "war" rationing, the rest being burnt, leaving the majority of mankind on the constant brink of starvation.

Furthermore, the methods of extracting most resources were harmful to the environment. For example, wood being harvested by Oceania from the Amazon went mostly unused right through The Collapse, only ever being used for the butts of rifles and decks of Floating Fortresses. Oh yeah, and the trees cut down were never replanted or replaced.

The act of manufacturing goods also required lots of coal to power the factories both in and out of the DZ, which resulted in coal reserves nearly everywhere being scraped to the very bottom to maximize the amount of coal mined, with the environment of the surrounding area being irrevocably poisoned by runoff, polluted by waste material and debris, and scarred by the actual mining. Similar things happened to areas around oil rigs.

On top of that, there was only so much stuff in the ground, and that included, what, oil, coal, Iron, Tungsten, Copper; all of which were vital materials to wage the war (and it remains so to this day, alongside Silicon & small amounts of Gold used in electronics)!

Most importantly, though, the very act of burning coal & oil in the factories and most power plants released CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) into the atmosphere en masse. The thing about CO2 is that it is effective at absorbing heat from sunlight. And with so much of it being released as a gas within a span of 75-85 years, it comes as no surprise to us now that it caused the earth to start heating up to its current temperatures.

It wasn’t warming up all that much at first, but the rate of temperature increase began to increase exponentially by 1990, passing +10 Celsius above pre-Industrial levels about a year later. After +20 C was passed in 2019, global warming became like a runaway train, as the natural checks & balances that countered the increase of CO2 failed and, in fact, started hastening the process at an exponential rate, namely...

1: The polar Ice Caps, which reflected the sunlight that would otherwise have been trapped by CO2, melted away into the dark ocean waters, which then absorbed the would-be-reflected sunlight;

2: Said oceans became increasingly acidic due to CO2 buildup, further increasing its effectiveness 3-fold at absorbing more of it (and killing nearly everything the navies relied on for food);

3: The already rapidly disappearing forests became unable to soak up enough CO2 to balance it out, and became Carbon sources instead of the Carbon sinks that mother nature intended them to be, as the increasingly dry environments they reside in became perfect birthing grounds to ever more ferocious & common wildfires that burnt what forests that weren’t cut down for wood, thus releasing MORE CO2;

4: The increasing heat melted away the Oceanian(Canadian) and Eurasian(Siberian) Permafrost, releasing ungodly amounts of Methane into the air. Methane, like CO2, also absorbs heat from sunlight... except that it is far, FAR more efficient at doing so, further increasing the earth’s heat carrying capacity 8-fold.

Lastly, the entire system was self-destructive and inefficient by its own design. Just think of it, the 3 hyperpowers were doing all of the following simultaneously:

Surveying all Party members (60 million in total in Oceania alone) 24/7;

Constantly rewriting history to the Party’s will by rewriting historical documents on paper, possibly hundreds of times per year;

Always running a False-Flag operation to weed out unloyal Party members;

"Fixing" dissidents through ReEducation (which takes months, or even years);

Killing said dissidents only days (sometimes weeks) after they finish ReEducation, disregarding all the time, effort, and resources put into the process which tens of thousands of people in all 3 superstates were going through at any given moment;

Completely erasing all evidence of a person’s very existence and accomplishments after they die, regardless if they are from the Inner Party, Outer Party, or a Prole by editing paper documents that so much as mention said deceased person only once, destroying all physical records/documents that concern only him/her, and reprinting photos so he/she is not in them;

Running hundreds of machines that pump out countless books, films, and porn material to entertain/distract the Proles;

Under-harvesting crops to keep the world on the brink of starvation, wasting soil as a consequence (and releasing MORE CO2 by burning the unused crops);

Constantly cutting down excessive numbers of trees for war materials & paper used for official Party records/documents without replenishing the natural supply;

Burning hundreds of thousands of tons of coal (and sometimes oil) every single day to power the surveillance system, prole-distracting machines and electric lighting;

Putting the peoples of the DZ into excessive amounts of forced manual labor for dangerously long and possibly lethal time spans, disregarding their health, families, physical conditions, and psychological well-being.

Fighting a war that NO ONE OF THREE SIDES CAN WIN, and should’ve ended long ago,

Extracting more resources for the war than necessary and not replenishing their supplies,

Wasting said excess resources by blowing them up, burning them, and sinking them to the bottom of the ocean, never to be recovered in any instance (and, I don’t know, maybe recycled and/or reused?);

Let’s say the Party wanted to do this for 1,000 years, non-stop. Now do the math, and calculate how much stuff that would require.

You will find that to keep this all going would require a near-infinite amount of resources to be spent up. On a realistic scale, the Earth would run out of its own resources after about only 100 years.

And since the Party never had any plans to explore any other planetary bodies nearby that they could feasibly reach (such as Mars or Venus) or even anywhere farther than 500 km in altitude, not even somewhere as close as our own Moon, and it occurs to one that the world order made by Oligarchical Collectivism had to inevitably end due to:

1: running out of materials to wage war & maintain their grip on their civilians, and/or

2: making the Earth uninhabitable, via destroying the biosphere and the release of excessive CO2 and Methane.

It now becomes obvious to everyone, reading this or not, that both consequences listed above are almost exactly what ensued since 1975, particularly in the years of 2015-2050.

However, even before things went out of control, there were ominous (if subtle at first) signs at what was happening. The last whale over 10 ft long died in 1975. The Caribbean and European beaches were becoming the single, long Taji they are today by 1984. The Polar Ice Caps were melting faster and faster every year (overhead ICBM duels half the time certainly didn’t help). And the Black, Aral, and Chad Seas were drying up at alarming rates, sometimes due to irrigation projects, always leaving a giant salt flat in their place.

Hurricanes and other forms of destructive weather and other forms of severe weather also got increasingly more powerful, as the oceans and moisture and air moisture that fed them kept getting warmer, particularly after 2001. The hurricane that hit New Orleans in 2005, which we will be calling “Katrina” for simplicity, was devastating for the Mississippi Delta region and took 1,833 lives, mostly because it had flawed and/or outdated flood barriers to deal with the sheer amount of water carried by the storm. The one that hit the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico in 2017, “Maria”, was more powerful, more destructive (managing to take out the island’s ENTIRE power grid), and took 9,291 lives, due to the fact that the sea was warmer than it was 12 years earlier. In 2020, a Typhoon, “Nina”, ran straight into the heart of Japan, taking even more lives than Maria did just 3 years prior (I unfortunately don't have exact numbers, but estimates range from 3,500-10,250 dead.)

Wildfires also became both increasingly common and destructive in California, Central America, the remnants of the Amazon, Indonesian, and Congo Rainforests, Southern China, Siberia, and Central Europe; floods in Florida, lower Airstrip One (England), Holland, Northeast Italy, the Nile & Mississippi Deltas, the Bengal region, Eastern China and practically all coastal regions; and droughts, resource shortages, and famine became increasingly common just about everywhere.

And yet, the Party did absolutely nothing about it. WHY?

The answer to that, and to the Hyperpowers’ … *cough* intentionally incompetent *cough* ludicrous military attitude, are one and the same, and may come as a bit of a surprise.

What most people today don’t fully understand is that all Inner Party members, when examined as a whole, regardless if they were Oceanic, Eurasian, or East Asian, were a group of stubborn, psychopathic, and sociopathic mad men excessively drunk in their power that both literally and metaphorically ran the world. To justify all their ungodly amounts of hypocrisy and excessive historical editing, they primarily used a psychological tool called Doublethink, which is taking 2 or more beliefs that contradict one another, and holding both as true simultaneously. Using Doublethink, the Party changed the truth at will; and if historical records contradicted whatever the Party claims at any time, then those records must be false and need to be replaced.

This explains both of the questions above, as well as other things, such as the names & respective purposes of the Oceanic Ministries / Eurasian Houses / Eastasian Committees.

The government branches of Plenty deal with starvation; Truth with lies; Peace with war; Love with torture. It also explains why Eurasia & Oceania essentially trashed everything Socialism stood for; and they claimed to do so for Socialism’s sake.

Doublethink, however, combined with the extreme narrowing of vocabulary caused by Language Control, also critically hindered the Party’s ability to think straight about serious, long-term problems, such as the CO2 buildup, and the oncoming of droughts, floods, extreme weather, and resource shortages. E.G., when Katrina happened, the Party thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime anomaly. When Maria happened, Katrina, in the Party’s eyes, never happened, and viewed it the same way they did Katrina; Maria was an anomaly. The same thing happened when Nina ransacked Tokyo, and when an abnormally huge wildfire annihilated what forests were left in the Pyrenees Mountain range in 2009-2010. As these became the status quo, the Party began to drop the ‘anomaly excuse’ in the final years before The Collapse, now claiming to have predicted these disasters before they happened, but by then it was far too late.

This begs the question: Was the world that they created, the Party’s legacy, the world of hardships we live in today, avoidable? I would say “Yes”, BUT, there’s something the Party did that basically sealed their fate, and created ours.

Remember when I said that they completely got rid of science? Well, by doing that, they also demolished ANY chance of avoiding their demise.

Specifically, science was the doorway to

1: More efficient & environment-friendly ways of extracting resources;

2: Alternate energy sources (Solar, Wind, advanced Hydroelectric, Geothermal, controlled Nuclear fission, Cold Fusion);

3: Understanding the consequences of biodiversity loss, Greenhouse Gases (I.E. CO2 & Methane), and global warming;

and by destroying most (though fortunately, not all) prior knowledge of these topics & purging the scientists and professionals who specialized in these areas (and then purging the purgers), the Party essentially blinded, deafened, & numbed themselves to the long-term consequences of their actions, and thus had NO f***-ing idea what they were doing to themselves and to the biosphere.

It wasn’t the final nail in the coffin, though; It is more accurate to say it was about half of them in total.

To summarize: Due to ridding of the sciences, over-reliance on Doublethink plus the effects of Newspeak & its counterparts, and the consequences of continuing the war longer than it ought to have lasted, the Party metaphorically dug its own grave trying to stop the cycle of revolt, and yet never saw its own demise being handed to them. Not by the Low (i.e. the Proles & Slaves) and/or the Middle (Outer Party), as they feared, but due to unwittingly provoking forces beyond mankind’s control.

The rubicon had already been passed around 1985, and it was all downhill from then on out...

PART 5: The Collapse

By the mid-2040’s, the temperature had increased up to +3.5 0C pre-Industrial levels. Wildfires, droughts, and floods caused by the heat wreck havoc on their respective areas. Proles, along with a few Party members fall victim as a result, with the death toll in the former group reaching the MILLIONS. Resource shortages were severe, and endemic. The inescapable, globe-spanning nightmare labyrinth made by the Party was crumbling.

What finally made it all give way is the coal industry (if one can call it that) flatlining in March 2050.

Without anything to power the factories, production of war materials ground to a halt.

In the DZ, the local inhabitants haven’t entirely forgotten what things were like before the war, and soon, uprisings occurred just about everywhere where there’s a large enough amount of people to successfully overpower the occupying armies (regardless of which nation’s it is; to them, they’re the same ruthless overlord with different names) and sack them.

From Lagos to Bombay, from Mosul to Brazzaville, the zone of anarchy is filled by a multitude of newly independent nations. Revolt soon spreads to Oceanic South Africa, as disillusioned Proles stormed Party areas within population centers, establishing an independent Union state in what’s left of Cape Town.

There were also the 2 fragments of the pre-Party world, Ethiopia & Egypt, which revealed themselves to the formerly oppressed peoples as soon as they noticed the lack of Oceanic and Eurasian garrisons and put 2 & 2 together (and got 4). The former isn’t the larger empire it was when demolished by invading Oceanic & Eurasian armies, though, as Ethiopia just controls its mountainous homeland and the Horn of Africa, opting to let the peoples in its former territories govern themselves. Egypt, OTOH, broke out of southern Arabia, its militia beelining to Mecca, Jerusalem, Cairo, and down the Nile River (well, more like Creek) by January 2051, and then slowly spread its forces to cover northern Arabia and Mesopotamia. However, the new sultun found reclaiming the rest of the former caliphate impossible: Eurasia held Anatolia and ethnically Kurdish lands up north; going west into the Sahara and former Libya was too dangerous (read: hot) for people to venture, unless they hugged the Alliah-damned Meditarranian coast; Ethiopia was roughly to the south-southeast, and it soon warned not to attempt to annex the weak nations that popped up in former Sudan; and eastern expansion was directly cut off by a revitalized, albeit downsized Iranian (Persian) sultanate.

Almost immediately after the loss of the DZ, the 3 variants of The Party scrambled to secure and centralize what resources they still had. However, for various reasons depending on the Hyperpower they controlled, they found it was nigh-impossible.

Because of the fact that Eastasia was actually the combined governments of the EACPS members, under the somewhat benevolent guide of the Empire of Japan, complete centralization of resources proved to be an issue because of the divides between Eastasian DeWor Parties.

China wanted the most resources out of all the nations in the Sphere, using its gargantuan population to justify this.

Japan wanted the most resources too, since it was the (now de-facto) leader of the Sphere, and all the other nations (except Nepal and Siam) were originally its puppet / satellite states.

Manchuria was stuck in the crossfire between the 2 largest members and could do absolutely nothing about it.

Indonesia simply wanted OUT of the Sphere from the moment it was forced into it; especially now that it’s forests and agricultural regions had been completely set ablaze/cut down by Japanese & Chinese loggers/flooded out by monsoon storm surges, and thus had been left with nothing but a population slowly starving to death. But neither Japan nor China were willing to cut their leash on the former Dutch East Indies.

Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet never needed many resources, and knew that staying in the EACPS any longer would be unbeneficial in the future, so they promptly cut ties with Tokyo, with Burma soon following their lead & doing the same. All of these nation's eventually abandoned Death Worship as a whole by 2058.

Siam also wanted to bail out of the Sphere as well for the same reasons, but a sizable portion of its people wanted to stay in.

Adding to the already complicated situation, the occupied areas of the Philippines and Indochina had become restless; meanwhile one Chinese province, Xinjiang, was pushing hard towards independence; Korea, part of Japan, was pushing for it even harder and had been doing so for much longer (specifically, since 1910).

End Result: a massive clusterf**k of confused fighting. The Eastasian Civil War was a multi-sided conflict, with Japanese vs Chinese vs Siamese vs other Siamese vs occupied Filipinos vs occupied Indochinese (Vietnamese, Cambodians & Laos peoples) vs Indonesians vs Manchurians vs Koreans vs Turks. ...Needless to say, that’s a lot of multi-sided battles for historians to sort through.

As Eastasia lapsed into violence, Oceania was running into its own problems. The truth about large countries is that they are expensive for their governments to maintain, both literally and in terms of logistics. The part of Oceania in the Americas was unable to efficiently distribute its resources to its vital areas (e.g., cities, other populated areas, farms) because of its own size. Add that to the largely known truth that infrastructure (mostly concentrated in North America, Mexico, and the coastlines of South America) had never been built up, and in most cases never even been properly maintained since 1940, and it was pretty clear in hindsight that the status quo that held for 107 years was on its final legs. The remaining non-American states/territories (a system carried on from the USA), meanwhile, soon had to fend for themselves.

The Party’s statement that it knows all finally proved false when another Category 5 Hurricane slammed into what was once (and is again nowadays) known as the Gulf of Mexico in June 2050, and caught just about everyone off guard in such a way that it was pretty obvious, even to the normally oblivious & unintelligent Proles (at least in the region affected), that the NatSoc Party didn’t see it coming. The areas hard hit by the storm were cut off by the Party, and any survivors were left to their own devices.

Day-to-day power outages, caused by the lack of coal to run the power plants, allowed dissident members of the Outer Party and a handful of intelligent military officers (all of whom realized that the system was rapidly failing and managed to avoid getting Purged / captured, tortured, brainwashed, then executed) to get together in the area surrounding New York City, and arouse the impoverished, starving, and ever more disillusioned Proles into unrest without getting caught (since all the Telescreens, cameras, and microphones were rendered useless without electricity). When the Party finally did notice and went in to deal with the ‘Thoughtcriminals’, this finally sparked a revolt.

On July 3, 2050, the events of South Africa repeated in Manhattan and the Bronx, and the Cycle appeared to be starting again. However, instead of the rebelling Party members and military personnel (the new Middle) taking over, instead they gave the Proles (the Low) the task of making the new government themselves, whatever they preferred; the Middle, who actually knew better than even the Inner Party in this case, would instead take the sidelines and let the Low handle things from there, though they would sometimes turn to the Middle for advice. With this, the kingdom of New York, a constitutional monarchy, was established, centered in Manhattan.

The uprising soon spread to Brooklyn, Big Brothers (now Queens) and the other city districts, and proceeded to rapidly spread up the valley, along the coast, and inland (albeit the latter at a slower pace). The former Oceanian states within the area of the spreading revolt would use New York as a model to make their own independent governments; though there are exceptions, such as my home country of Kentucky, a commonwealth / direct democracy, something that’s rare these days, considering the Party erased most evidence of democracy’s very existence during their reign. In just 19 days, it had covered all of North America east of the state of Ontario and the Mississippi River.

About the time it reached this extent, a separate revolt occurred in London, Airstrip One, except this one was from within the local IngSoc Party. There, around the 22nd of July, a local blackout had allowed a member of the Outer Party who was in midst of ReEducation to escape the Ministry of Love building, into the Prole areas. Members of the TP that were dispatched to recapture him, as I am told, were stopped by a mass of Proles that had been displaced when the Thames barrier, which protected London from storm surges, was overcome by a particularly strong storm not too long prior; apparently they were so desperate for food that they attacked anyone who looked like they were hoarding rations for themselves (i.e., the Thought Police).

Unsurprisingly, things escalated quickly, and resulted in the Ministry buildings getting burnt into hollow shells, their occupants cremated alive alive en masse and their floors caved in*******. It soon spread to cover all 3 states on the island of Britain: Airstrip One, Wales, and Scotland. And because Britain was separated physically from the rest of Oceania by water, loyal soldiers and TP units stationed there had no backup so to speak.

The same went for the states of Airstrips Two through Seven (Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, Hawaii, New Zealand, and Madagascar respectively), which, along with the islands of the Caribbean, fell in similar manners not too long afterwards.

By that point, the revolt in New York had spread westwards to the Rockies, and a democratic coup took place in Canberra, the members of which promptly declared Australia as an independent nation. New Guinea had been overrun by Indonesian troops and had been pulled into the Eastasian Civil War, thus confining Oceanic remnants to the Americas.

This too wouldn’t last, as by September, underground Latin American resistance groups, REAL ones this time, had caught word that the Party was imploding under its dead weight, and thus took initiative to hasten that process by liberating Mexico, the Amazon, and cities like Riodejaneiro, Buenosaires, and Lima. (The Party already KNEW of their existence, but didn’t wipe them out, and for a good reason: they were particularly violent in their activities, which gave the Latinos something to fear.) By the end of November, Oceania had ceased to exist.

By then, the states and territories that had made up Oceania had became small, independent nations, such as my home nation, Kentucky. The only exceptions were Amazonia, which comprises what used to be the Northwest, Northeast, and Southern Amazon Territories; and Australia, as mentioned before, which is 1 continent-country. Within a few years, though, the states that had made up the larger pre-Oceania nations had re-organized with the help of the aforementioned rebel groups, such as Mexico, La Plata (Argentina), Brazil (minus Amazonia), and Peru. Interestingly, most states that constituted the former United States of America and Commonwealth of Canada have formed a loose alliance/friendship known as the North American Union, with each member having a representative in a meeting in Denver, Colorado once per year.

When Moscow received word of Oceania’s dissolution, Eurasia (predictably) was ecstatic, despite the fact it was just barely holding itself together. With its only 2 rivals either dissolved or in a state of civil war, the NeoVek Party declared they had won “The Great Patriotic War”, and had defeated Oceania & Eastasia themselves, going as far as to claim the British Isles for themselves. Soon enough, its soldiers were ordered to prepare for invasions of China, Manchuria, Korea, and a newly-independent Iran.

This, of course, was not to be; the Eurasian military disobeyed the Kremlin’s orders. When an army, regardless of how bad it is at fighting, has been at war for a really long time (80+ years) and that war suddenly ends with their country in shambles, and then their government declares war on multiple other countries for no reason whatsoever, at least a portion of that army’s not going to be very compliant. And in this case, neither were the local governments of some individual SSRs, specifically the Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, Celtic, French, Italian, & German republics. It's as if the Inner Party ignored the fact that their ideology, Neo-Bolshevism, was failing economically and fundamentally. And the war against Eastasia & Oceania was over; why should they continue to put up with higher commands from the opposite side of the European continent?

When Moscow began pressuring them into submission, as it had done many times before, they succeeded from the Union. Once done, the new countries denounced Neo-Bolshevism as “a defunct ideology,” abandoned it, and began to severely limit use of Doublethink among politicians. Not long after that, the Kingdom of England (formerly Airstrip One) made contact with Paris by radio, and established ties with France and the others. Though it comes as no surprise now, citizens of all 6 nations were deeply unsettled to find that nearly all political, economic, and cultural elements of both NatSoc and NeoVek were completely identical, and correctly made the assumption that the same went for DeWor / Obliteration of the Self in Eastasia.

Eurasia, though, was not going to let Western Europe run off so easily. On February 19, 2051, it declared war on the breakaway SSRs.

It did not sit well with most civilians, be it Proles, Party members, or soldiers, to declare war on people that used to be their comrades and/or friends less than a month prior. Even if it did, a century-old, crumbling infrastructure network prevented troops loyal to the regime from reaching their destinations.

After another heatwave struck from the Mediterranean in March and killed about 10 million people, and the Party once again claimed to have saw it coming, the people finally had enough of their increasingly ridiculous claims. On April 5, 2051, the Polish, Latvian, Lithuanian, & Estonian SSRs declared independence, and from there, the others succeeded like dominoes within the span of a month, alongside several ASSR's within several SSR's. Only the Russian SFSR (which had a bunch of holes in it from several ASSR's (E.G., Chechnya) leaving) and the Belorussian SSR remained, but by then, the Party had seen the writing on the wall. In a dramatic climax, on June 1, nearly all remaining members of the NeoVek Party committed mass suicide, all but officially signaling the death of Eurasia. From the rubble came 3 new states; Belarus, Russia, and Siberia, the latter two separated by the Ural Mountains.

Eastasia continued to be a dead zone, and not a word was hard from any of its members (aside from Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, and Burma, which bailed before sh*t hit the fan) for another 2 years. Then, on July 9, 2054, Xinjiang, now East Turkestan, officially made contact with officials in Mongolia. Messages over the radio from Siam were heard from Burma soon after. (The Anti-Japan Siamese faction there won out.) By October, the Civil War was over; after a coup by a renegade faction in the Japanese DeWor Party, a ceasefire was announced and the EACPS was officially dissolved, with the nations of Korea, Vietnam, Lagos, the Philippines, and Cambodia gaining full independence. Indonesia & China, meanwhile, had shattered into a number of smaller island-countries / tribes / former provinces.

EPILOGUE: The Legacy of Oligarchical Collectivism

The global average temperature as of January 1, 2093 is 20 0C, which is +5 0 pre-Industrial levels.

There is at least one extreme weather event going on around the world at any given moment.

Many areas, such as North Africa, Southern California, Indonesia, the Great Lakes region, much of Florida, Bengal, the Amazon, and Holland are virtually uninhabitable, due to desertification, deforestation, pollution, and flooding.

The Amazon and Congo Rainforests were nearly wiped out, but have begun to recover in the last 2 decades.

Efforts into researching renewable / efficient energy sources have nearly always been fruitful, and have almost entirely replaced Fossil fuels, with the remainder of coal plants still running to be decommissioned when Cold Fusion reactors become widespread by 2105.

Biodiversity has severely dropped, with most fish and Polar-roaming species now extinct.

Human population rose from 1,500 million in 1935 to 2,300 million at our peak in 2018, before steeply declining mid-century and leveling out at just 400 million around 2077.

A nearly bottomless well of information withheld from the population at large by the Party has been uncovered, and has been useful in helping humanity & the biosphere recover from The Collapse, which doubled as one of Society and an ELE (Extinction Level Event) for the environment.

An unspoken agreement between all countries on this world we share has been made that it is humanity’s responsibility to take care of what’s left of the biosphere, and be careful to not harm the Environment beyond a certain extent whenever war is carried out. As well as to ban telescreens and widespread use of cameras and microphones for surveillance purposes.

The liberal arts have undergone a second renissance, with both old and new elements/types of art (cubism, art deco, realism, graffiti), literature (satire, the hero’s journey, visual novels, manga), music (classical, orchestral, digital, “rock ‘n roll”), and sports (football [aka “soccer” in former Oceania], baseball, cricket, paintball) emerging from all sorts of places.

Racial tensions &/or divisions almost completely dissipated during the Party’s rule, as they let people of all races (black or caucasian, Polish or Uzbek, etc.) into their ranks. Their idea was that everyone suffered equally. Once the Party ceased to exist, it had left a sense of unity among people who would otherwise be considered “racist”. Religion, on the other hand, has made a dramatic comeback……

Global standards of living have steadily increased throughout former areas of the DZ, and more rapidly in areas of the former hyperpowers. Electric cars are widespread, as are water purifiers where they’re needed, and people have a bit more than enough to feed them.
