Here's something I haven't done in awhile: Fake Pokemon! Specifically, a fake evolution.
Kinda obvious, but it's suppose to be an evolution for Qwilfish. I swear I remember having drawn something like this ten years ago back when G/S/C came out & while playing Soul Silver it just hit me with all this nostalgia I just had to redraw it.

Anyway, basic type & stuff:
Name: Qwilval (Quill+naval. Based on a naval mine. Another name I had in mind was Qwiline, which would be a combination of both quill & mine. But I prefer Qwilval, although it sounds too much like Quilava...)

Type: Water/Steel

Ability: Swift Swim/Aftermath (losing its Poison typing makes it lose Poison Point as well.)

Moves: Able to learn Steel type moves such as Gyro Ball, Iron Defense, Iron Head, & Magnet Bomb, & also learns new moves like Explosion, Swords Dance (both by itself now), Perish Song, Block, & Sludge/Mud Bomb. (I was thinking maybe other attacks having to do with exploding, like maybe a Fire-type attack, but I think those & Explosion alone will do. Maybe more tail moves or cutting attacks because of his tail?)

To evolve: I haven't decided. Trade with Metal Coat?

Other: Based on a naval mine, it has an anchor-like tail able to retract & extend, spikes are now "sensors"(correct word?) like naval mines have, screws & wood keep it together, & with its new Steel-typing, defenses are much higher plus it's Attack increased as well. Speed may get a slight boost, but we're talking about a Steel type here. HP increases too to match the other balloon Pokemon. (although it's not much of a balloon anymore)

I drew this in about an hour because I need to go to sleep & I would've forgotten all about it once I woke up but looking at it now, it seems pretty simple. Just, Qwilfish in a metal suit... he doesn't quite fit in. I may work on a better design later or just draw it at different angles. (one thing I wanted to add in was a "submarine hatch" on top of it's head, but in the end I just left it as you see it now. I also want to make the blue a bit darker so it doesn't look like too similar to a regular Qwilfish)
