Description Though it seems like longer, I've been in a Toto craze since last night. I watched their "Falling in Between" live show from 2007 and was awestruck by the sheer talent of each and every performer. This obviously wasn't the original group, since like Genesis the band has shifted members in and out as they have moved on or died. Still, I sat there worshipping all of them: Steve Lukather's kickass guitar playing and orgasmic voice; Bobby Kimball's hardly-aged tenor voice (and stache); Simon Phillips' fantastically ambidextrous drumming; and though he isn't a Toto member, Leland Sklar stood in as bassist and owned it. The keyboardist (his name is something like Phalanges, which I thought was appropriate) wasn't half bad, either.

So yeah, I'm in a temporary Toto squee period. In my (unbearably boring) Composition 111 class today I drew this. It's symbolic of many things Toto, from their songs "Rosanna" and "Africa" to homages to individual members. Both the band's drummers have been stellar, so both drums and sticks are visible. The keyboard keys align into a "P" for "Porcaro", three brothers of this name having been literally instrumental in the band's history. The mic with the mouth head is an homage to Kimball and his stache, and the guitar along with its inscribed "Luke" honors Lukather's greatness. The words "all-encompassing" are the English translation of the Latin word "toto", part of why the band is named so.

Seriously, check out some Toto. They cover all kinds of music genres, hence their Latin name, so they appeal to many. Plus they are comprised of some of the greatest session players around. Find the DVD or album of "Falling in Between Live" and soak...it...in.

Great! I actually love Toto since I was about 8 years old (17 now). The concert last year was.. well, there is no word to describe this feeling. I was in the front row.. to look into Lukathers eyes, to smile together with David Paich.. I don't know if there is something better than being together with such a great band. I remember when David Paich stood in the front and said something to Lukather, then Paich pointed at me and they grinned, I guess because I really rocked every song (:
I could have died, it was so cool.

I can only advise everybody to perceive the chance to go to a concert of your favourite band, if you can. It's an experience you'll never forget.
