Sun lightly shown through the entrance of the Healer's den, shining on the healer himself. Softhope groaned, placing a paw over his face. Could the sun shine on something else? He sighed, slowly rising from his nest. He'd have to check up on Burrcub today. With the deaths that had happened in the last moon or so, there was worry that it would badly affect the young hyena. The latest death had been Gullheart, who had fallen into a sinkhole just yesterday. Burrcub was due to become an apprentice today, so it was best to make sure she would be alright. Softhope left his den, walking in the direction of the Nursery. Darkpaw stood outside, clearly waiting for her fellow bick to come outside. A moment later, and Burrcub was out. She nodded at Darkpaw, glacing at Softhope. "Is it time yet?" She asked. He sighed. "Not yet. Clawsun hasn't woken." "That's fine, it gives me time to prepare." She turned toward the Leader's den, Darkpaw following. Both bicks huddled closely together, muttering quietly. 'Looks like I won't have to check how Burrcub is. She's doing just fine.' As Softhope finished that thought, out came Clawsun from his den. The grayish hyena hopped up on the rocks above is den, standing tall and proud. "All hyenas gather beneath the Sun's Rock for a meeting seen in the Stars!" At the leader's call, hyena's left their dens, gathering near the Leader's den. Burrcub yipped excitedly next to Darkpaw. "It is time for a young bick to graduate from a Cub to a young Tiff. Burrcub, step forward." The dusty brown hyena stepped forward, beaming up at her leader. "From this moment on, this young hyena will be know as Burrpaw. Firefleck, you have served this new clan so far, and I think that your strength and drive will to Burrpaw as well." The brown and gray bick stepped up to meet her new apprentice. "I know this will be your only apprentice, with how old you are, but I trust it will work out." The two bicks touched each others shoulders with their noses, then pulled away. "Meeting dismissed." Softhope watched as Burrpaw, Darkpaw, Firefleck, and Darkpaw's mentor, Manstiss-sting gathered around each other. Maybe this would help make everyhyena feel better.
