Description "The wind is coming! Two thousand years the vestals have prayed. Their lives have been the crystal's nourishment. And now... Now they feed the wind!"
(Agnès Oblige - Bravely Default)

I've been so hyped about Bravely Default since I played the game, I want to cosplay almost every outfit! I went to a tiny con this weekend, so I decided to make the summoner outfit of Agnès, one of my favourites! I made it in two weeks, and I'm happy with the result! Also, I won the best performance prize at the cosplay contest ^_^

You can see the progress pics and more photos in the facebook page of our cosplay group! www.facebook.com/redridingcosp…

Ohhh this is fabulous! Your cosplay looks great  I'm planning to make a Summoner Agnes cosplay myself for a con coming up in June, but I'm still in the planning stages at the moment. Do you mind if I use some of your ideas? I have some of my own already, but there's a few things I'm not sure how to go about. Is this the only photo you have of your finished cosplay? I'd love to see more oh my gosh, please let me pick your brains haha

Yay thank you I was mostly curious about what material you used to make the gauntlets and shoulder guards. I was thinking about using paper mache or Worbla's Finest Art. I have heard Worbla is fabulous for making armour so I was thinking that would be great, but I heard that it gets a bit pricey so that's why I am also considering paper mache. What you made looks fantastic anyway and I'd love for it to turn out like that, what did you use?

I'm also a little curious about your boots. Did you make them yourself or did you modify an existing pair of boots? And if you did make them how? My mum suggested that I could just modify a pair of boots I own, but I'm not sure if I really want to do that.

Ohhh one more question, did you just use material for the wings/feathers hanging off the bottom of the dress? They look pretty cool, but I'm thinking I'd like to find something a little more rigid than material for that.

Thank you for being willing to help me  this is pretty much the first Summoner cosplay I've come across on the internet and I only came across it because I decided to look for a few more source pictures so my mum has a better idea of what I'm wanting to do since she wants to help out. I've never made a full costume before so any tips and hints are greatly appreciated haha

I used worbla! For the gauntlets, the guards and the hair brooch ^__^. It's a pretty cool material! I had some, so I decided to give it a try, and it worked well! I made first the shape in foam, and then in worbla (twice per piece, to make the "foam sandwich" ). I've never worked with paper mache alone (only for parts of stuff) so I don't know how would that work! . After doing the base with worbla, for the guards I made the details with foam ^^. Yo can glue it easily with superglue, and then you can prime it all together

For the petals, I thinked a while about doing them rigid or "fickle" (is that the word? haha), but I decided to go with a light fabric, it's like chiffon! I bought it white, and painted it ^^. I guess you can have the same effect but more rigid with a more rigid fabric .

For the boots I'll make some draws for you later! But basically I used as a base a pair of sandals, and I made a kind of boot cover for it, glueing it to the sandals with hot-melt adhesive (this thing: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MVC… . It worked pretty well! But it's important to know that the pair you use will be ruined because of the glue, so use an old pair or buy a cheap one!

I'm not sure, but I think I'm the first one! haha I can't be sure 100%, but it's cool to think, I'm so Bravely Hipster! haha

If you give me an email or something, I can send you the progress pics!

Ahh I see, I figured you might have used worbla I think I might save up for some then, it does seem really cool! Do you happen to have an idea of how much you used? An estimate is fine, just so I have some sort of idea of what I'd need.

Mum found a great material for the petals/feathers/wings (honestly I'm not 100% sure what they are, but I like to think they're fairy wings because of what Mephilia did to fairies in the game) when we went material shopping yesterday. If I take progress photos I'll definitely share them with you, the material we got was exactly what I was hoping for I'd have to ask her what it is called, but basically she told me it's something you can iron onto shirts to help the collar stay up. Hopefully you have some idea of what I'm talking about, I'm horrible at explaining things hehe

Ahh thank you, that would be helpful! I think I might just try what you did and make them myself, we looked at boots but I wasn't too happy with any of them. What material did you use? Mum saved some of the stuff we're using for my dress and suggested I could use that, but I might use something else. For my dress we're using a thicker fabric that you might use for jumpers, which feels a little weird to me but the material is growing on me. The convention is going to be in July, which is Winter here, so she either picked this material from her friend because she's concerned about me being cold or just because there was lots of it to spare.

I feel like you're the first one, the first once doing Summoner Agnes anyway haha you're the only summoner I see when I put Summoner Agnes Oblige Cosplay into Google. I do see some Freelancers and one in her ceremonial garb though, but I guess those are more what you'd think when you say Agnes Oblige, huh? But yeah, hooray for Bravely Hipsters! Haha that's a cool idea, we're going outside the norm LOL I was actually also considering Freelancer or Ceremonial (was leaning more towards Ceremonial) but I decided Summoner would be way more fun because it's so colourful I just love the Summoner outfit, it's probably my favourite of the game. Although I don't have all the jobs unlocked yet so I guess it's won't be my favourite of the game until I see the rest haha

Ok, that would be awesome, thank you  my personal e-mail is britterzbee@hotmail.com let me know what yours is so I know what to expect once you've sent it

I'm late, I'm late, sorry!! I was busy this days

I think I used about a sheet of 50x75cm! ^__^

I think I know which material are you talking about, and I think it will look great!!

For the boots I'm going to do now the paint scheme, but yes, I used the same fabric I used for my dress! It was a rigid and gross fabric but a little bit stretchy, so that was perfect for the boots! I didn't had to make a zipper or anything, because they stretch enough to put my feet in ^^. Then I just added the bias, easy!

I agree, summoner is fun! It's like an elegant black dress but with colours everywhere! I love the feathers . There are more awesome jobs, you will see! :3

I'm sending you now the WIP photos! My email is like my dA name, Nullien, so you won't have any trouble with that

Hey, that's ok. Better late than never, right?

Ohh ok, looks like I can get a sheet that size for about 30 dollars plus postage, and the next size up looks to be 50 +postage. That shouldn't be too hard to save for within 71 days (my friend told me last night that it's 72 days until the convention, eppp so excited!)

Ahh fabulous, I think it will look good too I can't wait to paint it! As long as you have a basic idea of what material I meant that should be fine, I'll probably take pictures anyway LOL

Hmm ok, sounds simple enough  I'm reconsidering using mum's suggestion, especially since I found a picture on Facebook of these sandals that would be super useful to glue the material onto and still get that open toe at the bottom. I will just have to track down a pair though, hopefully that's not too tricky. Mum said I could put some of what I'm using for the wings on the inside of them too to make it a little sturdier and so it doesn't slide straight down to my ankles haha I'll have a look at your pictures and think about it a little more first

Yeah it is! I also really love Mephilia, it's weird because she is so sadistic but that's what I like about her character  and yeah, especially the rainbow ones the colours are so fun! After Swordmaster I only have 6 jobs left to collect. I haven't played for a little while unfortunately, but that's because I know when I get started I'll be sitting there for hours totally absorbed in the story and won't get anything else done so I need to be careful about when I play

I got the e-mail ok  I'll have a quick look at the photos and save them to my usb, unfortunately my laptop isn't working right now so I won't really be able to look at them until I get it fixed unless I use a computer at uni. Right this moment the library closes in less than two hours and I'm supposed to be finishing some work so I can submit it hehe
