So yeah, uh, I first did this as an experiment which then became a birthday picture for Cass which then didn't because I changed the date of his birthday SO. Now this is just some meaningless extra portrait thing ahahaha o)--<

Heh, never noticed it before but Cassair looks a touch like a young Griffith from Beserk. With a bit less hair that is. Hopefully his life ruins less lives than Griffith's did.ย

Alright:
Beserk the anime covers the first arc of the manga. It cuts out a little bit here for time and to remain as a consistent whole (particularly it removes a lot of the magical elements). However, you won't be able to not read the book if you finish the anime. It would be too cruel to yourself.
There is a new Anime which I haven't watched but is VERY shiny. I believe it is doing the whole thing as a series of OVAs but again, haven't watched it yet.ย

Then there is the manga which is obviously the whole thing (not complete sadly and the author updates really really slowly) and is basically amazing.
Although you do have to be prepared for some pretty dark stuff. Darker I think that anything we've talked about (but then you've read Claymore yeah and I think it was similar levels to that). I think anyway, my minds drawing a blank on the dark stuff we have talked about.ย

And ahhh I've seen bits of the new anime here and there, so very shiny! But yeah, I had a feeling reading the manga would be the best way to go (though I've also heard of the super excruciatingly slow updates and general NOOO when you get up-to-date :'D). And fear not, I am super prepared for dark stuff hahaha I've seen snippets of Berserk around and, you know, heard about it. =ใฎ= But true, I'm cool with Claymore and... and... yeah omg what other dark stuff have we both seen. Hellsing? I didn't get to finish that though. Blade of the Immortal and Vinland Saga have their dark/gory moments too, I guess. Uh. Hmm.

Yeah. The current arc (mostly because of the update 'schedule') is pretty slow anyway so...eh. It's pretty annoying. I think the best way would be to get to a certain very climactic event, and then just stop and leave it till it's finished. I just checked, if you read up to 307 and stop you will be just before the current arc and also a pretty good pause point (slightly frustrating but not too bad) series wise. The current arc takes quite a different tone to the previous so yeah, good temporary stopping point till the series ends. I would recommend that method if/when you do read it.ย
Ooh you should totally finish Hellsing. It's pretty short by comparison to most of what we read and it's got quite a good ending I think.
Vinland Saga does have some pretty gory stuff but I don't think it gets to the same level as Beserk. Honestly all told I don't think it's too bad, but it was a bit of a shock to the system when I first watched it because I wasn't really used to that from anime. Even the nudity and stuff generally doesn't come across so much as fanservice (well some of it does) but more an actual representation of what would be the case in those situations.
I've been meaning to read Blade of the Immortal. Keep seeing the name around.ย
It might help that I've gotten a lot more used to gore generally though...

Ooooh that sounds pretty good, yeah. Up to 307, I gotta remember that. But yeah, the slowness sounds excruciating. :'D At least Hunter x Hunter's latest hiatus came at the end of an arc, it was frikkin painful before that. Actually it's still painful whenever I think about it sob
Yeesss I don't know why I didn't finish Hellsing but I definitely meant to, just gotta find my spot again (or re-read it haha). And I'm pretty sure Berserk is way up on the gory scale but I'm totally prepared for it, it's like... reputed for that. :'D But yeah, probably not the easiest thing to encounter on one's first descent into the messed up glorious world of anime ahaha
But dooooo read Blade of the Immortal sometime. I haven't finished it either (since I caught up at the time and haven't got round to collecting the rest ffff) but it's a most excellent and beautiful seriesss

Hunter X Hunter came on Hiatus at a stage where it could have easily been the end of the series which was FREAKING CONFUSING. Man. I want to reread it. Also Yu Yu Hakusho. Just because.
