Kagura from Gintama. Waiting.I kind of really love the scenery of her childhood - all soggy grey city and narrow alleys away from the sun. It might not sound like anything special but I just think it suits her - them - so very much.

That's an incredibly detailed background! Did you base it off a photo or something? Otherwise you muft have incredible patience. And of course the colored-in girl looks cute standing there.

I used several photos of Hong Kong alleys for reference, plus a few concepts out of my head, and mashed them all together to make this.

I frackin' love soggy grey scenery so I am in total agreements. And alleys. Love alleys. Wish we had more dark alleys for me to walk down in a foolish and innocent way.

Yup, this is part of the backlog. :'D I've still got maybe two or three things yet to be posted! I had a very art-prolific post-exam week.
Mmm alleys. Looking up reference pictures was fun - I mostly used Hong Kong alleys for this drawing, I think. ♥ And that is how I detail! With many, many reference pictures, and then some random things from my head. Hahaha I've always been a kind of stuck-on-details sort of drawer, so I suppose that helped

Teach...me...your ways...Seriously oh my goodness, the way you draw scenery and cityscapes and baiargheihaiufahf. Your use of perspective is brilliant and oh god all the wonderful little details, like the clothing hanging from the lines, the air conditioning units, the ornate windows and the towel in the bucket. You really haven't left anything out! The atmosphere is brilliant too - all of the items and the narrowness of the alley combine together to give a bit of a junky, abandoned look, which works well with the greys.
And hnnggh, you've made the human figure fit in with the scene so well, her angle and height are just right! You make it look so eeassssy.

asdfghjk you are too kind! Trying to do backgrounds kind of intimidates me, to be honest, but I want so much to be able to do them! Hence this two-day-long, reference-photo-filled venture haha - it was really pretty fun to try though. :'D Ahhh and I love you for noticing all those little details! Haha I couldn't resist putting all the clothelines in, I love the idea of laundry hanging in strange and opportune places. ♥
