Sunset Shimmer looked at the small being near the cracked egg remnants.

There lying by her hooves was a small being, eyes still closed, a small tuft of red fur near a small orange horn. She rubbed her closed eyes with a paw, and yawned.

Sunset kneeled down to further face the small creature, who then opened her eyes. A bright sky blue, just a tad darker than the teal eyes of her mother.

Mother.

Sunset just stared, a million thoughts racing in her mind.

How did this happen? Why didn't I suspect it sooner? How is it possible? Did Discord do this on purpose?

Discord.

Sunset paused in her train of thought, thinking about Discord. What would he think? She knew him and Pinkie Pie were already busy expecting a foal of their own. How would she break it to them about this?

Sunset's attention was brought back to the young hatchling, who had gotten bored of looking at her mother, and shut her eyes for a nap.

Looking at her new...daughter, only one thought raced in Sunset's mind.

What am I going to do?

Sunset studied the egg that grew in the test tube for a couple of months, until it hatched.

She wasn't sure what to expect from it. An explosion of custard, a hydra, a restless spirit entity that Discord knew that has now decided to haunt Sunset for generations to come.

No. What really came was a lot worse.

A new life.

A new life that Sunset wasn't prepared for at all.

She didn't know how to raise her, what to tell anyone else, she didn't even know what to name her.

Like, literally for the first few weeks of her life, Sunset called her daughter all sorts of names. "Scrambled Eggs", "Hard-Boiled", "Deviled Eggs", "Caviar", "Tuesday" (she hatched on a Tuesday, chaos really seems to like that day in Equestria).

But the point is, Sunset was clueless on what to do.

I got another picture planned for this a few years later when her daughter's older. And has a proper name.
