Anyone had an idea of doing an AU (Alternate Universe) of MLP FIM where these two were still alive? I do now that I see these two deserve more love.

I think the way the writers went about these 2 characters was smart. We have been waiting mutilple scenes to find out how they died. Most of the emotional investment was a result of getting to know Aj, Big Mac, Applebloom and granny. It was smart for the writers to start with a story that focused on their love story (as oposed to addressing their death). It give the audience a chance to get to know these characters and have the audience get emotionally invested on them. When they finally do address their death (if they do), it will hit much harder because we know the charactersΒ
