Yeah, the Nidorans are rabbits. They're just more realistic-looking rabbits... with poison spikes.

I've considered the nidos lagomorphine, (at least the first two stages) I've also fancied the eeveelutions as rabbit/foxes.
I was really surprised too, that the first pokemon overtly based off a rabbit didn't pop up until the 4th generation.

Hmm, I would pick a rabbit,
because they are as cute as hamsters,
but you can more easily hold them and rabbits don't sleep all day in their little cottages like hamsters do.
(my family have had rabbits and hamsters)
