Yeah, Kaori is great. I have yet to read the manga, but the character designs in the anime were beautiful. Kinda incomplete story, tho.

Anime? You mean the Angel Sactuary OVA? It is kidda based of the beginning style of Kaori sensei ne. The manga is great and her style ahs improved a LOT. lol The design and all the costumes are so great...@O@

I dun like such pretend-to-be-happy ending... -__-;

Yeeah. It's kinda hard for me to get manga or anime here. I read in your devious info. that you live in hong kong. (that's really cool). How's life there?

lol I used to be in HK. But now I am studying in Sydney.... @_@o Yosh assignement due next week...

Life in HK is fun. You'll never get bored. Lot of things to do and there is a lot of Japanese stuffs etc. hehe... I miss the shopping... ;_; Here is so boring... _-_ I dun really like Australia. Stilol ok cos I can DL anime...>.
How about ya saintelle? Where do ya live? Nice talking to ya. Gothic and Yuki Kaori fan desu ne.

saintelle In reply to nyako [2003-09-10 16:52:53 +0000 UTC]

You think Sydney is boring? I live in Twinfalls Idaho. If you ought to know anything about Idaho, you should know that there are basically only cows and very uninformed people here. (I'm originally from dallas, texas and got stuck here, somehow). But anyway, it's hard to find anime or manga. But there is the internet. And that's how I've seen most manga. Anyway, the only titles I know by Yuki Kaori are Angel Sancuary and Angellic. (I've only played the snes game for angellic). What are more of her titles? and which ones are good in your opinion?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nyako In reply to saintelle [2003-09-11 11:28:59 +0000 UTC]

Angellic? O_o I haven't heard of it... Maybe it is the translation of the title?! WHat is it about?

Now I am reading God's Child. It is a continuation of her previous manga "Kain" . It is good also. England background and with great details. A bit detective + blood story.

Besides these two, I think Yuki sensei has some short manga too... Like the twisted version of Snowhite and other fairy tales... lol

Eww... Lucky there is internet. ~_~ For Syndey, the only japanese bookshop is Kinokuniya. Just opened not too long.

saintelle In reply to nyako [2003-09-11 18:44:16 +0000 UTC]

You haven't heard of Angellic? Well, it's supposed to be about a girl who is competing to be queen of the universe with this other girl and they have to befreind these powerful guys who can give them money, or something like that. (I just played the game and it was all in japanese...) But try looking it up on mangaart.com, or something. But I like the sound of the twisted fairy tales. Which other artists do you like? (I probably haven't heard of very many of them....)

My other pick is CLAMP and Takaya Natsuki. Also Nanase Aoi. What about ya?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

saintelle In reply to nyako [2003-09-15 16:48:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, I don't really have a real favorite. In the past my interests were in old artists like leiji matsumoto and ishinomori, (because I'm trying to understand japanese fundamentalism and it's easier to see in old shonen stuff). Latley I've been interested in Junko Mizuno's work. I haven't read any of her manga tho. By the way, I'm not familiar with Takaya Natsuki. Who is she, (he?).

nyako In reply to saintelle [2003-09-17 11:47:30 +0000 UTC]

Takaya Natsuki? The writter of Fruit Baskets. Fruit Basket manga as well as anime is sooo coooooll!!! *touched*

lol Your eally like shounen manga ne. I prefer Bastard!! But it has been so long since its last volume was out..._-_

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

saintelle In reply to nyako [2003-09-17 17:19:27 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm... I think I remember seeing fruits baskets somewhere. (I think I've only seen the manga form--I'll have to look into the anime). I've seen alot about bastard, but I've never seen or read it. It is by a man, isn't it? (and it is considered shonen?) Yah. But the other shonen title I like is Trigun, but I've only seen the anime. (I'm sooo busy and I really only have time for the net!)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nyako In reply to saintelle [2003-09-18 06:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Yup Bastard is by a man. And it is shounen manga... Maybe manga by man is usually shounen manga... The only exception maybe is Pita-ten or Digi charat? O_Ollll Dunno.

I like Fruits basket manga better although the anime is also good. ^^

Since the manga supply in aussie is so limited my only choice is DLing anime now...;_;

saintelle In reply to nyako [2003-09-18 21:39:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, typically man made mnga is shonen (shounen?) There's one I've seen called brahman upraised, or something, and that's the only one I really know of that's shoujo and by a male. (I had no idea digi charat was by a male!) yah. Of course only a woman can accurately make shoujo manga though, right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nyako In reply to saintelle [2003-09-19 09:10:20 +0000 UTC]

lol Fwmale is more sensitive... maybe?! Yeah digi charat is so cute... >///<

saintelle In reply to nyako [2003-09-19 17:35:24 +0000 UTC]

I've seen alot for digi-charat, but, (sigh) haven't read it yet. Do they have an animation for it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nyako In reply to saintelle [2003-09-20 07:49:12 +0000 UTC]

Yup they have anime. And have a newseason showing right now in Japan. ^^ Hmm... I highly recommend Pita Ten (by the same author)!!! It is anime as well as manga also. Shia is so cute... //// *pointing at my avatar*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

saintelle In reply to nyako [2003-09-20 23:59:25 +0000 UTC]

Pita Ten, eh? I'll have to look at that. (your avatar is cute, by the way). But I was wondering, how fast do you get anime that premieres in Japan? I know that over here we get anime a lot faster than we used to. And some anime is custom made for american viewers. How is it over in Hong Kong?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nyako In reply to saintelle [2003-09-21 15:53:39 +0000 UTC]

Erm... I get used to download fansub anime now in aussie. ^_^u Can get the episoide a few days after it aired in japan. Now I download the RAW episoides too cos they are faster in cos I know quite a lot of japanese.

HK? Hmm... A lot of bootleg DVDs and VCDs anyway, and easy to get with a quite not bad quality. May availble like a month later the anime aired. They have Chinese subs.

Custom made for US viewers? You mean... Altering the translation and the anmes...? As long as no dubs... I prefer the original. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

saintelle In reply to nyako [2003-09-22 16:17:23 +0000 UTC]

No, I think there really are certain animes custom made for American viewers. There's one airing right now called Big O. (I don't watch it too much, but I've read about the technical info). In the credits there's all this about it being incorparated with Cartoon Network, and during the commercials the folks who run that airtime were saying "we asked the creators of Big O to make more episodes, so they did." I don't know too much about that show, but I do know the market for anime is pretty big in the US--so I think Japan is trying to make anime they see suitable for US viewers, (in one anime mag, one of the executives for a company was saying they wanted to make anime for americans with lots of robots and cute girls). Yah, well anyway, I prefer anime made for the Japanese since I'm trying to understand Japanese fundementalism.

Yup, Kimino as cosyume of some character...lol It is so beautiful and stylish... The softness feeling can't be replicated by any other western clothing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

nyako In reply to nyako [2003-09-29 18:03:29 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... I think it depends on the kind of kimono...and the price etc. But surely some expensive cloth... Many are made of silk to reduce the wieght cos so many layers...

Ar? I havenet wear one before. Cos I am not a japanese... ^-^llll I know that it is a very expensive clothing too... wedding-dress alike price...

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

saintelle In reply to nyako [2003-09-29 16:37:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, they look like it. What kind of cloth are they made of? I always thought they'd be made of some kind of silk. I thought they looked simple to wear, but on a Japanese site I saw the directions to put one on, and there were more than 30! (I lost count after that). (Sigh) I'll probably never be able to wear one. Have you ever worn one?
