For her age, Daiyu a surprisingly hardworking, intelligent and responsible person with natural leadership skills. Having a rather cool demeanor and seemingly constant serious attitude having developed a complex from a young age to not show much emotion, seeing it as weak so she has a rather cold and domineering presence yet still has no problem stepping up into a role, understanding it, and carrying it out to the best of her ability, though at times she will near push herself to exhaustion. She never hesitates to carry out her duty. perhaps it’s the child inside of her that’s indicative of her age but she’s very stubborn, making her very devoted to her tasks and unable to let something go. In a similar manner, she is rather childish, no matter how mature she may attempt to be she’s rather prone to her immature tantrums or moments of weakness albeit, more cute at times than especially intimidating or problematic. Despite her apparent intellect, seems to be well versed in a number of subjects it’s particularly unhealthy that Daiyu is usually alone in her escapades. Being near alone a majority of her life without any close relationships even from her siblings, she’s developed a very independent mindset, insisting on carrying out any task by her own power rather than others regardless of how helpless she may be, crossing over into pure distrust at times. She tends to be rather self absorbed at times, viewing herself as somewhat superior to others or her problems bigger than theirs even if it doesn't quite show regularly and she has a rather cynical worldview as well not able to easily look at the bright side of things and so she doesn’t believe in a person’s capability to change leading her to be a vengeful being, aside from being petty and holding onto grudges she tends to be rather merciless and worse of all, not above murder. But for those individuals she does grow attached to she’s very considerate to them being rather clingy as well, she’d give and do just about anything for the people she holds dear.

Music: Can play a wide array of Asian instruments though she’s most adept at the Guzheng and Erhu

[ BACKSTORY ]

Summary: A century ago her family made a deal with an evil deity that granted them potent magic abilities so they could win a war for the throne for a price and so they did and a century later when Daiyu was born he came for his due, killing her parents and eldest brothers to set up another conflict between Daiyu and her brother for the throne that divided the population and started up a war in which Daiyu ends up killing her brother to end earlier though ultimately as she takes the throne it’s all for naught and the country fell hardly a year after weakened by the struggle. Taken over in yet another war, the blood price paid in the lives taken in each struggle. Though in the end Daiyu managed to escape and has been lost wandering since.

Daiyu’s story goes back a century ago, during a war for the throne. The Li family, most inferior to every other highly ranked house in magic ability though still prosperous with their riches was caught in a war they had little chance of winning unless they could gain more power, so the young heir to the family trekked a demon infested mountain admist the heart of winter, through caves with nothing but a golden thread for him to not lose his way and made a deal with an ancient godly dragon which granted he and his family a powerful magic that would be passed down through his bloodline and end the war. And so it did though such alliterations of the tale were only glorifications meant to justify the ends to a means. The truth of the matter was the diety was more in tune to what the westerners call the devil, a god cast down and tainted by his years spent in darkness though to the foolish lord it was an opportunity.
“I may grant you the power you desire but there is a price to pay, in a century’s time I will come for my due.”
And so amidst a December chill and storm, Daiyu was born youngest of her siblings and the only daughter. Fengge, the eldest a strong and wise son of military mind who was a worthy heir to the throne albeit hotheaded along with his alignment to fire magic, Jiang who was a quiet man of silent strength adept in water, and Honghui, her brother closest in age to her being only 2 years older who was perhaps best looking of the trio though he grew up lazy and absorbed in his privileged life while convinced he’d never have the responsibility of the throne becoming a womanizer and glutton rather than to study or train even with his aptitude in wind though he was still good-humored. Which brings us to Daiyu youngest and last in line for the throne youngest and most serious of the bunch even from a young age most easily groomed into her hardworking nature. Though more than likely set to marry in a political marriage, she chose to throw herself into her studies and training showing great success in her shadow magic and training whilst being groomed in finer arts such as dancing and music she spent her younger days in such an environment, a sense of distance between her and her siblings yet she was happy then. Or at least she was when she turned 13 a tragedy struck, her parents were mysteriously killed, and within the upcoming year her eldest two brothers would follow regardless of the security, guards who later died of mysterious sickness, however, did report seeing the shadow of a dragon moving through the halls of their respective times of death.
The country was in turmoil with the deaths and at the age of 14 and 16, her and Houhui were stuck in line for the throne though seemingly spared from the mysterious deaths that had come for their brothers. However contrary to her two eldest brothers Houhui was far from capable to take the throne and so the court and nobles were divided between a capable but young ruler and the rightful heir who was unfit but easy to control, the more power-hungry nobles siding with her brother while Daiyu and a good portion of the nobles saw her as a better fit to rule. The relationships among the population and between the siblings severing more and more until a war divided the country once more. It was fought for merely 2 years yet the bloodshed ran rampant through the kingdom until Daiyu made a decision to stop the needless amount of violence and the war the fastest way. On a rainy night using her ability to sink into shadows and move across them, she snuck into enemy camps and cut down her brother, both of them hell-bent on winning though too weak and tied down by sentiments to do it before that moment. Though it’d be a lie if she didn’t regret it even if didn’t take very long for the war to end afterward, holding tight to a ribbon her brother had kept since childhood. The traitorous nobles wiped out or stripped of their power while Daiyu worked to restore order though after such a bloody battle it was impossible, the country divided and power weakened, it didn’t take long, perhaps only a year before a neighboring kingdom invaded. Fields of fire and blood stained the land once more as the dynasty fell, the price of a deal from century past come due.
Though Daiyu didn’t quite manage to die, able to escape with the help of loyal servants and her shadow magic. She was presumed dead and ran. She was never sure of where she was going, or where she could go from there, she wanted her vengeance though for the time being she could only survive in her aimless wanderings, taking odd jobs and mercenary jobs when she needed the money. Hardly even noticing when she ended up in the strange new land

Magic Class: Black Mage
Though merely a human, from the pact her family made many years past she has a very strong affinity to shadow magic, able to manipulate them freely
Strengths:
Stealth - Being a master of Shadow based magics she operates best in darkness and can sink into shadows to move along them completely silently and undetected at times.
Speed - With a smaller stature and graceful footwork along with her specialty in shadow magic she’s both hard to catch and see.
Martial Arts - She was trained in them since a young age and excels greatly in close combat fights
Cold Resistant - Given the nature of her magic she’s rather accustomed to cold environments in comparison to the chill induced by her powers though that’s not to say she can withstand them for very long
Weaknesses:
Composition - Albeit well trained and disciplined in her magic she cannot escape the fact she is human so she’s neither immortal nor is her physical strength and stamina pool something to marvel at
Hypothermia - Her use of magic will often result in hypothermia thanks to the exposure the heat absorbent cold of her shadows so in any battle of stamina or in the case when she has to overuse her abilities she will lose.
Fragile - She relies on her ability to evade attacks rather than to endure them so she can’t take very many
Reliant on Powers - Though well trained in martial arts she isn’t accustomed to fighting without heavy use of her powers so in the case where she’s left without them she’s significantly less intimidating.
Abilities:
Umbra Kinesis -
The ability to manipulate shadows freely from existing sources of shadows, she’s unable to create more but so long as there’s a source it behaves like a pool of water from which she can use her powers. For Daiyu, shadows act very similarly to water in movement and properties but being shadows, they are rather heat-absorbent so they’re chilling to touch and they can cause hypothermia when overused or when exposed to for longer periods of time.
In the darkness, her powers are most potent and best controlled yet it is extremely cold, giving her a very limited amount of time and higher stakes to using her magic while in darkness. In the light, on the other hand, her control is compromised and there are fewer sources but shadows are not as cold and in sunlight, she can combat the chill.
When manipulating shadows them they move in a flowing manner and lacks a definite shape being tendril-like in appearance acting like water or air and has hardness equal to ice when compressed into a sphere she can use as a weapons.
- Shadow Sink - She’s able to submerge her self or body parts into her own shadow and masses of shadow to move in them to avoid attacks or to sneak around so long as the masses are connected. She cannot utilize this skill very well in the light given the general lack of shadow masses. When moving in shadows it’s very similar to swimming so she cannot teleport or move particularly quickly though she’s safe from enemy attacks in the meanwhile however she is unable to breathe or see in the environment she can’t stay very long completely submerged, however, she cannot simply poke her head out from time to time to take breaths as it’s always gruelingly cold inside a shadow so the longest she can use this ability at a time is upwards to a minute.
- Shadow Ball - By drawing out and compressing shadow into a sphere she can hurl it at an enemy, it has a cold aura and hardness of ice, disintegrates into a puddle upon contact and causes frostbite where it touches.
- Cold Shadow- The base form of her magic shadows are freely manipulated and look like tendrils, moves like water and acts like a water or air which causes frostbite to pass through and emits a cold aura
- Combat - used by hovering shadows around a limb like an arm or leg and attacking physically with extra frost damage
Martial Arts -
Adept at Kungfu and is excellent at delivering quick blows to vital points of the body but not very skilled at using weapons
