Description There've been a few times where people, usually the elderly, pay almost the entire transaction with coin change. It's annoying, it's time consuming, and it's tedious, especially when there's a long line of customers building up behind them ready to pay. It's a pet peeve of mine, but on the flip side it helps to:

1. Refill our till
2. Check coin rolls to see if there's actual money in those (found some misplaced coins and even some Canadian currency in a couple) so that the payment is fulfilled.
3. Give me new methods to find short cuts when counting money so that I could speed up the process in the future.

It's a nuisance, but it's not as big of one as some of the other experiences I've had. It only gets really irritating when they flat-out say they don't have enough money and walk right out, leaving I or another coworker to call for a manager, wait for their arrival, and have them cancel the transaction. Or when they just hand you a handful of coins without counting them expecting you to know how much they gave you in an instant (and thinking that all of those flat pieces of metal automatically pays for the entirety of their would-be purchase).

At least its not entirely in pennies. That would be a real nightmare...

There have been close calls, though.

While I like having extra change I don't like having to count though all of the coins when there are more than two people behind the customer. I don't mind having to count lots of quarters though.

I wish where I work would get Apple or Droid pay. They still haven't upgraded to that yet.

There's like one or two people using their phone to pay their bills altogether and I find it fascinating. I totally agree with you in regards to receiving and counting change under pressure. People start to look at you like it's your fault when in reality, it's nowhere near as close.

Man, if you worked in retail, your eyes would open up so hard that the eyelids would rip. The things they portray in cartoons are basically what really happens in such a job.

Really how come?

Because then we wouldn't be serving the customer in that sense as well as appearing very rude. We rarely ask customers favors like that out of courtesy and in some cases, policy.
