Description A Case Of Mentor Difficulties

Silverpaw sat next to her little brother Fogpaw. Birchpaw had already left with her mentor Fireflight. Now a slender and beautiful black she cat came towards the apprentices.
"Fogpaw, are you coming?" asked Grassblossom gently.
"I wouldn't miss it!" exclaimed Fogpaw, "bye Silverpaw, see you later."
"Bye Fogpaw," Silverpaw responded trying to sound happy for him. The others all knew who their mentors were but Cedarstar had said at the apprentice ceremony the night before that she was still considering her mentor. Mudpaw came and sat next to Silverpaw, he could sense her tension and cut into her thoughts.
"I bet your mentor will be great," Mudpaw said idly.
"It's not going to work you know." Said Silverpaw in her dull response.
"What?" muttered Mudpaw.
"They're not going to train me you know." Silverpaw murmured, she lowered her head.'
"WHY NOT!" yowled Mudpaw, shocked by Silverpaw's bluntness.
"Because of my disability,"
"Your eye, you're still fine even if you are blind in one eye!"
"NO I'M NOT!" Yelled Silverpaw, she stood and walked away, " I MAY AS WELL GO AND JOIN THE ELDERS NOW THAT'S WHERE THEY'RE GONNA SEND ME!"
"Silverpaw!" called Mudpaw after her but she ignored him. He watched her go saddened by her sorrow.
"Mudpaw, what is wrong?" asked a soft, caring voice behind him. Mudpaw jumped and flung around to see his mentor Lilypelt, the medicine cat.
"Not...nothing!" exclaimed a startled Mudpaw.
"Well, let's get started!"

Silverpaw was moping around camp when she finally made up her mind. I managed to get Cedarstar to listen to me about Fogpaw, maybe she'll listen to me about myself. Silverpaw padded over to Cedarstar's den and whispered inside "Cedarstar, are you there?" At first there was no response and then a happy voice called a welcome and invited her in. When she entered she noticed there was a tiny gap in the roof that allowed sunlight to seep in. At the back of the cave sat Cedarstar and on her left sat Heatherstripe.
"Cedarstar, I was hoping to ask you something," started Silverpaw diplomatically.
"Silence!" snapped Ceadrstar, her tone made Silverpaw tighten her lip. "You are late!"
"Wha-" Silverpaw started but Cedarstar stopped her.
"I sent for you an hour ago!" hissed Cedarstar.
"I...I didn't get a message," responded Silverpaw, she was speechless to the tone and sudden anger of her leader.
"Well, you have now spent three hours of your first day as an apprentice doing nothing!" snarled Cedarstar.
"NO!" Yowled Silverpaw, "NO I DIDN'T! YOU DIDN'T GIVE ME A MENTOR TO DO ANYTHING WITH MY TIME!"
"What did you just say?"
"I said you hadn't given me anything TO do!"
"Why you insolent little apprentice," laughed Cedarstar in a sudden change of mood.
"What?" Asked Silverpaw dumbfounded, "you're not sending me to the elders den because of my eye?"
"OF COURSE NOT!" Yowled a now very confused Cedarstar, "why would you think that?"
"Well, I thought that is why you didn't give me a mentor,"
"No..No, no, no...I was still discussing with Peachspots what to do about your training," said Cedarstar laughing slightly.
"Why did you have to discuss so much?" Asked Silverpaw cocking her head to one side.
"Because your mentor is a...well interesting matter," answered Cedarstar.
"WHO!?" asked Silverpaw, now excited to know that she might be getting a special mentor, maybe Riverheart the best huntress, or Blacktail the warrior or even her father Lightstripe, the diplomat. Cedarstar smiled and looked at Peachspots who nodded, then Cedarstar looked at Silverpaw and spoke, "I am your mentor."
