I actually love winter, but spring looks like fun!

But winter has been so hard this year in some parts of the world.
I love spring and autumn.

Our springs and autumns are quite cold and rainy, and our summers extremely hot...for me, winter is the only season you can count on to be as it should: cold, white and fun

O-Gosh In reply to Biutz [2011-01-10 11:51:22 +0000 UTC]

I did not know that your summers are that hot. I thought the weather in Romania is similar to polish weather.
I hate winters - I used to live in a very cold part of Poland where snow stayed for 6 months of the year. I was freezing on bus stops, etc

Biutz In reply to O-Gosh [2011-01-10 15:59:32 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately for the past 5-6 years the weather got warmer and warmer and while it means less harsh winters, it also means extremely hot summers ( 40Β°C in june is quite common). I heard on the news a couple of years ago that in the south they're already growing oranges and they're thinking of introducing olive tress too For instance, now the temperatures should be below freezing, give or take a couple of degrees, today it was around 5Β°C and for the next week they're announcing 11Β°C
I'm not a big fan of extreme weather either ...how's the climate in Australia though?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

O-Gosh In reply to Biutz [2011-01-11 21:26:36 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I know what you mean. The climate in Poland has changed dramatically, too. From one extreme to another.
Australia or rather Victoria where I live has beautiful autumns with no wind and average of about 24, mild but rainy springs, temperamental winters (winds, rain, average of about 13) and some hot days on summer (there is usually about 2 weeks of extreme heat per summer). This year has been rainy and very mild, so far we only had 3 days of hot weather and it is middle of summer. I like it

Sounds good! Although I wouldn't give up on winters just yet, it does sound like a nice place to live

O-Gosh In reply to Biutz [2011-01-13 10:57:19 +0000 UTC]

It is not too bad. But I miss my mother country Poland, of course.

Biutz In reply to O-Gosh [2011-01-13 11:35:44 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean, we often talked about moving to France, where my mum-in-law is working and Chris could easily get a job there but then we realized we'd miss home too much

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

O-Gosh In reply to Biutz [2011-01-13 21:49:36 +0000 UTC]

And France is only a drive away. Can you imagine moving to a place 15,000 kilometers from home, friends and family? I love it here now, but the beginning was hard.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Biutz In reply to O-Gosh [2011-01-14 15:16:38 +0000 UTC]

No way! It's literally across the globe
If you don't mind me asking, what made you move in the first place? It seems so radical and...far

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

O-Gosh In reply to Biutz [2011-01-18 21:17:16 +0000 UTC]

Yes, quite radical and painful, at the beginning.
It was the situation in Poland - both political and economical. We were looking for better future.
Why so far? - we had a family here. We have regretted it often in the first couple of years, but than we got used to the life here, and now we quite love Australia.
But we miss Poland, our family and friends and the wonderful European scenery. But not the winters I had enough of them.

Biutz In reply to O-Gosh [2011-01-20 22:53:31 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad things worked out for the best Any beginning is hard, but true, in time it gets easier
You can plan your visits in Europe in the spring or fall, the airline tickets are cheaper and the scenery indeed more beautiful

O-Gosh In reply to Biutz [2011-01-21 11:38:17 +0000 UTC]

I am actually planning a trip to Europe this year and I keep my fingers crossed. Maybe it will come true
