I am also using 8 head units Ratio for both adult genders. In artwork seems more realistic to me.
But still for me easiest way is to use Human Proportion Calculator I am using android App, it is called HPC
In internet there is also free online version

hrm... this should help me a lot! lol... *hasn't been able to identify her style but guesses that its more on the realistic side...*

Obi-quiet In reply to Samantha-GirlScout [2006-08-26 19:55:01 +0000 UTC]

I most certainly hope so. It's kind of wierd, one day you look at your drawings, realize how styalized they really are and blink, while thinking "wait...do I have a style?!"

MoonHawke [2006-08-25 18:25:50 +0000 UTC]

haha, i usually always make my female shoulders way to wide too. it took me a while to figure out how to fix that (mainly in figure drawing), but until that point i had to put up with everyone's taunting that all my females were football players. but what do they know?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Obi-quiet In reply to MoonHawke [2006-08-25 19:23:12 +0000 UTC]

LMHO! Well, it seems that we're in the same boat. I usually know how to fix it though...usually being the operative word.

Obi-quiet In reply to lovesoraxx [2006-08-25 19:20:38 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad to help. KH people actually seem to be about 6 and 1/2 heads tall, or 7-8 heads tall with larger heads, hands and feet. Never could quite figure that out...

I wish someone would have made a body proportions tutorial way back when. *shakes head sadly* Could have saved me SO much trouble.

I remember the old one! I used it to try to draw Danny one time, LOL. Wow, that was WAY back.

Great new tutorial. I'll be sure to use it in the future.

Jezabel-Maphton [2006-08-25 14:14:18 +0000 UTC]

I kept thinking it was 5 heads... well, that shows how much I know! Haha. Usually, I just look in my mirror when drawing girls, I'm very nicly shaped, besides these blasted hips! lol Yay super heros! XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Obi-quiet In reply to Jezabel-Maphton [2006-08-25 14:16:17 +0000 UTC]

I would be, if I lost a few pounds. *shrug* But hey, right? A lot of cartoons are five heads big...Timmy turner is only two I think...

Jezabel-Maphton In reply to Obi-quiet [2006-08-25 14:17:53 +0000 UTC]

I think he has half a head sometimes XD I've actually been told I was under weight, but as I said, my hips could fool people.

When you have kids (if you plan on it) that'll help...a lot.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jezabel-Maphton In reply to Obi-quiet [2006-08-25 23:09:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's what my neightbor tells me, she's had three kids, and she's pretty small. But for the next ten years or so, they'll me pointless... well, besides for curves, curves are good! XD

MoonHawke In reply to Jezabel-Maphton [2006-08-25 18:28:08 +0000 UTC]

it depends on the age of the character for the number of heads, child are usually about 3 or so, teens would probably be 6 or 7, adults 7, and elderly people i'm guessing would be the same as a teen.

WingsofMorphius [2006-08-25 14:07:43 +0000 UTC]

I totally hear that model thing. People in school always used to tell me that I could be really pretty if I just wore some make-up and changed the way I dressed, but I've never seen why I had to change who I was to fit their idea of beauty.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Obi-quiet In reply to WingsofMorphius [2006-08-25 14:10:03 +0000 UTC]

I don't mind putting on a little make up every now and then, but honestly, I'd rather spend more time on other things than trying to make myself conform. I totaly understand.
