The aged king of Luidia, Cydd, had for some time now felt that the extended life the spirit of the Pheonix had blessed him with was coming to an end.And so, as his last act, he returned to the deep fire-lit halls of the mountain, to the Chamber of Icons, where the portraits of importiant figures could be painted onto the walls for future generations, but also, for those powerful enough, for the spirits of those dead figures to be summoned.
Centuries ago Surmount had entrusted Cydd with an image, an image he now added to the walls, and with his failing strength he summoned the two lost souls, and watched, with discretion, as the two seperated dragons greeted eachother with a solominity and passion that only those seperated for so long can muster, despite loves gained and lost over the years.
As the magick faded, and the two blue dragon with it, Cydd sighed and bowed his head, "Alas," he said in a voice distorted by time and Wyrm bile, "That his mind was so clouded, or the two of you may have lived your lives together..."

All I can conjour up is that Pandora was under too much pressure, being the heir to the throne and all, escaped the palace a number of times and met with Surmount. I'm guessing they met more than once and, due to status and stuff, they had to keep apart, thus they never became married etc. So that eventually led to Gray's birth.... gosh I wonder how he takes it!

Yeah, but I wouldn't really worry about them.
If you want to see his scale this old picture is still pretty acurate on that side. [link]
Though mostly now they are like the ones over his ribcage/thigh, mostly flat and interlocking, but not of any one standard size.

Ohh, this is a nice one! I really like how you didn't outline the whole bodies of the two and only painted some parts! It's a nice touch that draws the attenttion to the dragons' faces and how they're cuddling eatch other.
