He doesn't know how it started.

He was so tired from working, he was frustrated because before and after work his mother decided to call and start her usual belittling. He was already in a sour mood when his brother...his ever so brash younger brother.

Maybe it had been when Noctis asked a question that set him off?

Either way it lead to this.

A rare argument but...it was getting so out of hand, Kai was sure that his neighbors below and above could hear him. He knew for sure the apartments on either side of his could hear. Hell he was sure people outside on the streets could hear them from how loud they were!

It hurt, the insults and pure hatred in his little brothers' voice. 10 years he raised this little boy and to hear him say how much he hated him, hated seeing him, hated hearing him or being near Kai...it hurt. It felt like those 10 years he spent trying to give his brother freedom was for nothing; being spat back at him.

"I wish you were never my brother!"

"I wish my birth mother never died then I wouldn't be stuck with the likes of you!"

"I hate you!"

"Jump off the bridge for all I care! No one would miss you!"

These words echoed in his mind over and over, even as Noctis left.

"You're a terrible human being, Kai."

"No one loves you, I sure as hell never did!"

"This is why mom doesn't love you, you're pathetic!"
