The Quickening was a well known force to all Immortals. Ramirez always had respect and found wonder in its natural magic.

After the Great Catastrophe the Immortals felt something other than a drive to fight each other. With mankind crippled by a meteor strike the fabled Prize lost its lure.

When all but Kortan made the decision to give up the old ways the Quickening revealed hope in the form of a prophesy. One day an Immortal from the clan MacLeod would be born. There would finally be an Immortal not bound by the Jettator's Oath.

For nearly seven centuries Kortan ruled and the world fell further into darkness. The Jettators continued their lives of peace and cultivation of knowledge. And Ramirez watched over the MacLeods as best he could.

Those efforts were far from in vain when he sensed a spark within a brand new life. When the time was right the baby was put in the care of the Dundee Clan. They were one of the few peoples that Kortan seemed to ignore.

Ramirez had his doubts, but felt that familiar right he couldn't deny...
