Both (non Crystal Gem) Sapphire and Powder Blue Pearl were curious about mixed gem fusion. Neither gem could keep the thoughts of the bold sapphire and ruby they had heard rumors about far from their minds. The pearl dared not bring up such a notion, but one day her Sapphire asked about the subject.Β
Believing this to be a trick that would lead to punishment or shattering Powder Blue Pearl lied about her true feelings. But the sapphire knew better and asked again, assuring the low ranking gem that no harm would come from the truth.
Once the pearl confessed her true feelings, her Sapphire admitted she too wondered what such an experience would be like.
In a place the sapphire knew the pair wouldn't be found she and her pearl attempted to live out their question. After many attempts the two formed Sodalite for the first time.
Over the years Powder Blue Pearl and her sapphire fused many times in secret. Each time they felt less and less afraid of what they were told was wrong and Sodalite hoped for the impossible. She wished all of Homeworld could see that she was nothing to be ashamed of.
When Era 3 came to pass Powder Blue Pearl wanted to go to Earth to see her original sapphire. But first Sodalite had to get her wish.
