This IS a breeding picture, though I am waiting until Fool's Gold is registered to register the foal.

Originally, Black Swan Stables had closed down and its horses, including the prized Shalestone daughter Raven, sold to Of Darkest Fantasies Stables due to Mrs. O'Connell's ailing health. The former jockey, who was now a middle aged woman, had suffered a serious bacterial meningitis infection and had no choice but to sell her horses to keep up with medical bills.

Though she has a long recovery ahead of her, after some months, despite looking at selling the Stables themselves, Mrs. O'Connell unexpectedly received a gift from the owner of Spikes Stables: a breeding to one of their young Peafowl mares, Christmas Miracle. After her daughter Chenoa took her mother for an excursion out of the hospital to visit Spikes Stables, Myra O'Connell got to see the young Nordanner mare for the first time...and it was love at first sight.

Mrs. O'Connell couldn't wait to get her first Nordanner foal, and her passion in horses was rekindled, though this time she knew that she needed to limit the amount of horses the stables took in due to her hospital bills. She could barely pay for a few horses as it was, and she would make sure that her Nordanners go the best quality treatment she could afford.

So, when the time came, and Miracle came of age, O'Connell, after searching without success for a stallion far and wide for the beautiful young mare, received another extraordinary gift of kindness. After looking far and wide for months, Mrs. O'Connell felt almost ready to give up; Peafowl Nordanners had just been so popular that most had been "bred out", with the older starters (and their direct progeny) dead from old age or retired, and new imports from Skagenrak few and very far in between.

Even then, Mrs. O'Connell knew that she could not hope to compete with more prominent Nordanner owners for a slot. However she knew she had to find a horse unrelated to Christmas Miracle in order to get her first Nordanner.

Then, Mrs. O'Connell heard rumor that Skagenrak had imported a new starter, the first in a long time - Nordanner #600, a jet black stallion with golden Peafowl markings. Mrs. O'Connell, hearing of the event, immediately summoned her daughter and both traveled to the auction, where Nordanner owners far and wide had also come to bid on #600. However, although the stallion took her breath away, Mrs. O'Connell knew that #600 had already gone far beyond her budget in terms of bidding.

While watching the stallion trot around the area, his nostrils flaring as his ears pinned back, O'Connell noticed another woman sitting next to her. Sparking a conversation, Mrs. O'Connell commented on how the stallion seemed so agitated, as the Peafowl seemed to buck, then gallop around the area, spooked by the noise of the blaring loudspeakers throughout the area. One comment led to another, and eventually, Mrs. O'Connell explained her situation, and finding that the two shared a common love of both the stallion and the musical "Phantom of the Opera" - a play that had helped Mrs. O'Connell get through her time in the hospital - they became fast friends.

After only a day of bidding, the amount on the stallion's head began to reach astronomical levels. Much to Mrs. O'Connell's surprise, her newly found friend had been bidding on #600, and was indeed still bidding against another contender for the majestic horse. Even more still to Mrs. O'Connell's surprise, her friend in the end won the lucrative stallion...and joining her after the final blare of "SOLD" had been announced, the two went down to the arena below to meet #600 - the newly dubbed "Fool's Gold".

Wishing her congratulations and joy to her new friend, Mrs. O'Connell turned to leave with her daughter - only to be stopped by her lady friend, who smiled. Her friend, much to Mrs. O'Connell's further surprise, offered her a breeding slot to "Mr. Sexypants" - aka Fool's Gold.

Thus, so it was decided between the two friends that Fool's Gold would be bred to Christmas Miracle. In return for this gift, Mrs. O'Connell promised that her lady friend could have as many breeding slots as she would like to the resulting foal and help dictate the foal's breeding.

After Fool's Gold had some time to settle into his new home, Mrs. O'Connell arranged for a live cover of the new stallion and Christmas Miracle. Setting upon an agreement with Spikes Stables, Mrs. O'Connell had Miracle transported, with lots of leg bandages and all, to the new stable where Fool's Gold was staying.

As soon as Chenoa had unloaded Miracle off the trailer, the mare, who was excited of course, perked her head and whinnied, her tail up almost like an Arabian's as she pranced. Fool's Gold noticed the Nordanner mare almost immediately, his unmistakable neigh, and then scream, echoing across the stable. Putting out the stallion to pasture, the lady friend allowed Fool's Gold gallop a bit, though the stallion paced around the fence, whinnying for Miracle.

Finally, Chenoa, after fully "undressing" Miracle from her bandages, hoof guards, halter, blanket, and tail braid, opened the gate to the pasture and released the mare.

Taking off with a bolt, Miracle cantered away, then slowed to a trot. Fool's Gold quickly pursued her, cantering alongside the trotting mare as he tried to bite her mane.

Looking up at the clear, star-studded sky, the moon shining brightly, Mrs. O'Connell breathed the clear air and smiled.

...and so began the Music of the Night.

(Based loosely on recent events, with Mrs. O'Connell mirroring me. A side note: Mrs. O'Connell is handicapped and paralyzed from the lower spine down, I am not. This is from a serious injury that ended her jockey days as part of O'Connell's story, which I am in the process of writing.)

I also want to thank *SpikesStables and =Cloudrunner64 for making this happen. I am forever grateful to you both. Thank you so much!
