This is my (second) entry for the cosplay contest in
The only things in the costume I didn't make myself was the wig and a few things in the necklace.
As for the rest of it, *inhales deeply* the dress is cotton, along with the blue trim. The yellow on it was actually textured ribbon. The sash is polysatin. I know these materials don't usually go together, but my goal here was to experiment with contrasting materials.
I hand stitched the shoes (using a tough needle, denim thread, a thimble, and pliers XD ). I made a vinyl cover over a sole taken from a bedroom slipper, then added the straps. The bow (made out of the same material as the sash) was added to the design so they could be adjustable and thus, more comfortable.
I actually made the flower on the wig myself, also. I attached a fuzzy pipe cleaner to the wig netting, painted it with acrylic, then hot glued red broadcloth on it for petals! As for the wig itself, I did not make it but I styled it.
The necklace was also a special part of the costume- my second favorite piece, in fact! I painted over a silver chain with bronze acrylic to make it look a little aged. I took a red Plexiglas jewel (something my Papa gave me) and made a cover over it with model magic. On the cover, I inscribed the words (in Hylian) 'Wish' and 'Sing', then painted it to match the chain.
Last but not least, the harp! It is fully functional- complete with tuning pegs and 12 playable strings. It is made out of poplar wood. For the tuning pegs, we actually made them out of screws by drilling tiny little holes through them to thread the wires through. (Of course, my dad helped in this!) We used steel guitar strings for the... strings.

Well, that was fun to write!
