Description The Origion of Ghirahim and Fi
I lived in a small, new founded village. My parents told me that I would be in one of the first generations that weren’t nomads, and that the further generations would look to us as the ancestors of the village. I have always liked that idea, that when we passed on new generations would come and keep this place alive.
The village was in a valley, almost a canyon, between two cliff-like mountains. There were only six other families here besides us, and most of them had kids around my age. The houses were newly built, so they were more like small shacks, but the land was beautiful. Up one of the mountain sides was a winding path. At the top of the path, nearly a quarter of the way up the mountain, was a beautiful spring that flowed out of a waterfall. It had always been one of my favorite places. I loved to dance there, especially on the stones that were scattered across the spring.
When I was only ten years old, a few of my friends and I were sitting on the rocks beside the spring and watching a boy on the other end practice archery. He was new at it, and not very good.
“Ha, I don’t think he’s made it in the target once!” My best friend, Lilly, laughed as the boy shot another arrow into the rocky wall.
“Ya really, and look how close he is! I can make an arrow go in dead center from three times the distance he is away from the target!” Fin, the leader of the kids (or so he thought), exclaimed loudly.
The boy looked over at him with his brown eyes. He was clearly frustrated, and then turned his attention back to the target. He drew the bow slowly and aimed carefully, but when he let go of the string, he missed again.
“Hey, Ghir, that was the closest one yet!” Fin called to him. “Maybe you’ll actually be able to hit the edge with enough practice!” The boy looked back at him and pulled his long brown bangs out of his face, glaring at Fin. It only made Fin laugh even more. The boy sighed and looked down as he went to retrieve the arrows. I began to feel sorry for him and angry at my friends.
“You guys shouldn’t be so hard on him,” I told them. Every one of them turned their heads and looked at me in shock, including the boy. I brushed me black hair back and continued to look at them as calmly as I could. “He’s probably good at something, just like everybody…” I said a little more quietly as I looked down.
“Ha!” Fin laughed at me. “Are you kidding? The only thing he’s good at is falling!” Everyone laughed along with Fin. I became furious with them.
“Stop making fun of him like that!” I told them in a scolding voice, leaping off of the rock where I sat and putting my hands on my hips, my face flushed with anger.
“Hey, I think Fire had a crush on Ghir!” Storm, a girl who I wasn’t very fond of, giggled. We looked at the boy to find him staring at me. When he caught my eyes, he quickly looked down, blushing.
“Aw, I think he might like you!” Lilly said teasingly as everyone began to laugh at me.
“He was probably looking at you clowns laughing like idiots!” I said angrily, but the comeback didn’t affect them at all.
“She’s blushing! She does like him!” Fin said loudly, pointing at me.
“No, I just- UGH!” I exclaim as I stomp away. There was no use arguing with those idiots, anyway.
The others started back down the path towards the village, probably to tell the other kids what had happened.  I went to the edge of the spring and began to leap across the rocks to get to the bank behind the waterfall. I wanted to be alone, but the boy walked over to edge of the spring and began to follow me across the rocks. I tried to pretend not to notice him, since he couldn’t follow me all the way across, anyway. I was the only one of the kids that could hold their balance on the slippery stones without falling in.
Suddenly, I heard a splash behind me and looked over my shoulder. The boy’s head came up out of the water and hung onto a rock with his long arms. I quickly ran across the stones to his side.
“Are you okay?” I asked as I stepped onto the rock he hung onto, kneeling down.
“Ya, I just fell…” he said as he pulled his dripping wet hair out of his eyes. He looked up at me in shock; I guess I had snuck up on him. I could clearly see his soft brown eyes, which looked straight into mine. He blushed a little, and then I asked him,
 “Do you need help?”
“No, I can…” He mumbled as he swam clumsily towards the waterfall. He crawled up onto the rocky ledge behind it and rung out his hair. I crossed the stones to behind the waterfall and sat beside him.
“Thank you for standing up for me,” he told me with a shy smile. I smiled back and said,
“No problem, those kids shouldn’t talk about you like that. Oh, and with the bow, keep your wrist steady when you shoot, your arrows will go fly straight.” He nodded a little then I got up to dance on the rocks.
He watched me closely for a few minutes, and then told me as I began to twirl,
 “You’re a really good dancer.”
“Thanks, I really like dancing.” I said back as I come to a stop and stood on my toes. “It’s my favorite thing in the world to do. Do you like archery?” I asked as I made my way towards him, dancing a little across the rocks as I went.
“Um, well, no. I really haven’t found a talent yet… I like swords, but I’ve never tried them.” He said with a half-smile.
“I bet you’re smart. From what I’ve heard from the adults in the village, you have memorized every story the elders have ever told.” He shrugged, and then I sat down beside him and pulled my legs to my chest. “Your name’s Ghir, right?” I asked, trying to make conversation to get it off his mind.
“It’s not my real name, but everyone calls me by it.” He said, still looking down. “Not that I prefer my real name, either, it’s kind of strange.”
“Oh, well, my names Fire.” I said with a slight smile.
“I know, I’ve heard a lot about you. You’re the most beautiful girl in the village.” He snapped his head up towards me and blushed a little when he realized what he said. I just giggled and told him,
“Don’t worry, Ghir, you’ll find something you’re really good at one day and show them all!” He smiled brightly, I smiled back. From then on, we were friends.
I was right about Ghir finding a talent. About a year after we became friends, his father made him a pair of wooden practice swords. Ghir learned very quickly and, before long, he was the best swordsman in the village. He could even beat Fin in a sword fight, which he did get in trouble for, but at least Fin became his friend afterwards.
Throughout the next six or seven years, Ghir grew much taller and soon surpassed all of the other boys in height. He actually became pretty handsome, too. I, on the other hand, was always a little short and seemed to have a child-like look in my face.
As the years passed, our friendship grew. Ghir started to really like me, and soon, he loved me… and I loved him back.
One day, we were out by the spring. Ghir had brought his new metal swords to practice, but was taking a break and watching me dance across the stones. He always loved to watch me, and even told me that he thought I was so graceful, I could nearly dance on the surface of the water.
I began twirling on one of the stones, my favorite thing to do, then stopped and looked at Ghir. He smiled at me, and I smiled back. He looked down and sighed, then opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted. A loud rumbling came from the distance. Both of us looked over towards the village, and then ran over to the side to get a better look.
“Demise!” Somebody shouted form below. “They’re coming! Run, take cover!” I heard them call. I turned around and looked at Ghir in shock, then asked,
“Demise… the Demon King?” My voice was almost a whisper.
“Yes,” he said with a worried look in his eye. “He has an army of demons. It is said that they destroy whole villages in minutes, murder without hesitation…”
“What do we do?” I asked, my voice rattling with fear. “There’s no time to get down, is there?” Ghir shook his head, and then we looked at the wall behind us. It was a tall and far too steep for us to climb. We were trapped. “Can we make it down the path if we run?” I asked, tears beginning to come to my eyes.
“No,” he said, closing his eyes and thinking. The rumbling grew louder every second; they were near the gates at that time.
Ghir looked over at his swords lying by the spring. The heavier metal blades were new to him, but he had learned to strike with them quickly. He walked over to them and picked them up, holding one out and examining it.
“They’re here!” I shouted when I saw them. Hundreds of monstrous creatures poured into the valley- demons. They looked like deadly black shadows, just as the stories had described. A few of them saw us and began climbing up the hill side, their read soulless eyes glowing with bloodlust. “We’re going to die, aren’t we?” I asked, looking up at Ghir.
“No, we aren’t.” He told me sternly. “But, if something does happen…” he put both of his swords in one hand, then grabbed my waist with his other and pulled me close. He kissed me softly on the lips, something I had dreamed of him doing for a while. He pulled away and said “I love you… and I promise I will protect you.”
“I love you, too.” I said, putting my hand on his face. “Be safe,” I told him. He nodded, then handed me a knife.
“Keep this in case something happens,” He said as he turned his attention back down to the monsters. “Now get back,” he said as he readied his swords.
As soon as one crawled over the edge, he slashed its head. The thing fell down the cliff, dead, but more were coming behind it. They didn’t expect humans to fight back, and didn’t even have much of fighting chance before they got over the edge.
Two more had made their way up, but he threw them both off in one quick motion. They kept coming, but he stopped every one of them the moment they appeared. One with a sword leapt over the edge of the cliff, its weapon raised high and about to strike. Ghir blocked the blow with one sword and stabbed it with the other, sending it down the edge. More with swords and even other weapons came, but somehow he defeated them all.
The attacks paused. Everything was silent. Ghir lowered his guard.
“Are they gone?” I asked, taking a step towards the edge.
“Yes, I think,” he told me. I walked a little closer to the edge, trying to get a look at the village. “You don’t want to look down there…” he said as he put his arm out in front of me, but I pushed it back and stepped forward.
When I looked, I barely recognized it as our village. All of the houses were destroyed. Bodies lay out on the ground everywhere. Every single one of them, I knew, were people that used to be my friends, my family…
Ghir put his arm around me, comforting me. There were a few tears in his eyes. I was so shocked and scared, I couldn’t even cry.
Suddenly, his head snapped up and he started off into the distance. I felt it, too, a strange stirring in the air. Something… wasn’t right…
There was a bright flash behind us. We turned around to see another demon, not like any of the others. He was much larger and menacing. He had reptile like, scaly skin along with fiery hair and held a large, black sword.
“Demise…” Ghir said to himself. I stared at him in fear for what felt like an hour, waiting for him to kill us. Ghir told me to get out of the way. I took a few steps back, but stayed close to him, clutching the knife in my hand. I knew that no matter how good of a swordsman Ghir was, he would never be able to stand up to the Demon King.
“You’re the one that has destroyed so many in my army?” Demise asked. His voice sent chills though me, but Ghir somehow stood tall. “I must say, I expected to see a warrior or a great sword master, but you’re just a boy…” Ghir glared at him and told him in a strong voice,
“I am a sword master, even though I may look young.” Demise laughed darkly.
“I have never met anyone who doesn’t cower in fear at the sight of me. You may truly be a sword master, or you may just be naïve, we’ll see.” Demise held his sword out towards Ghir. I knew what was going to happen.
“No…” I said, gritting my teeth and closing my eyes, knowing that it was over.
Ghir came at Demise with a battle cry, striking at him with all his energy. He missed, and then went to strike again with the other sword. Ghir never seemed to hit Demise, no matter how close he came. He tried to jump in the air to strike, but Demise held his sword up to block the attack and threw him off. Ghir rolled across the ground and came close to the edge of the cliff, but caught himself. He got up, staggering, and attacked Demise again.
Suddenly, everything stopped. Ghir’s sword had pierced Demise’s chest. He pulled his sword out, but Demise just stood there, looking at him blankly. The sword had done no damage.
Ghir fell to the ground on his hands and knees, gasping for air. His swords lay on either side of him, clashing against the rocky floor as they fell. Demise stared at him, and then put his own sword away.
“I was going easy on you, for I have no intention of killing you… yet. You fought very well for a mortal.” He told him, his voice a little less menacing than before. “What is your name?”
“Gh- Ghirahim,” Ghir said through his heavy breaths.
“A strong name, powerful.” Demise said to himself. “I will make you a deal, Ghirahim. You are a very good fighter; you would be of great value to me.”
“I’ll never join you.” Ghir in a stern voice, glaring at him as he looked up.
“I expected you to say that, you are loyal to your people. But I want you to listen and consider my offer. I assume you are trying to protect the girl there, are you not?” Demise asked, gesturing towards me. “If you join me, I will let her go. If you choose not to, I will kill both of you, but her first, so you may watch.”
Ghir looked at me, and I looked back at him. I shook my head, trying to tell him that I would rather both of us die than him go with Demise. Ghir looked down and closed his eyes, like he always did when he thought hard. He then sighed as the tenseness faded from his face.
“I accept,” Ghir said, looking up at Demise. “I’ll join you, I’ll do whatever you want… just don’t hurt her.” Demise nodded, his red eyes lighting up. He held his hand out towards Ghir.
“NO!” I cried as a dark cloud surrounded Ghir. He froze in pain, and then began to change. His brown hair turned silvery white, his soft eyes hardened and glowed with an evil aura, and even his clothes became menacing and demonic looking. He cried out in pain as cracks spread across his face, soon covering his entire body and turning his skin grey. Suddenly, the dark cloud vanished and he was still. He had been changed into a demon.
Ghir stood and picked up his swords, then looked up at Demise. There was a look in his eye that I had never seen before, but I knew it wasn’t his. He glanced over to me and smiled wickedly. I saw that his lips had turned white and dark purple shadows were under his glowing brown eyes. He then looked back at Demise, who nodded.
“Ghir,” I said, fear in my voice. He laughed a laugh I never heard from him before, something evil that sent chills through me and made me lose my breath. He began to walk towards me. “Don’t you remember me? Don’t you remember… it’s me, Fire… Ghir, I know it’s you!” I cried, tears beginning to fall down my face. I think I was trying to convince myself more than him, because deep inside I knew that it wasn’t him. He laughed again, his wicked smile turning to a grin, still coming closer.
“No, I’m afraid I do not remember.” He said as he stopped in front of me. My eyes grew wide with fear as he raised his sword. I tried to defend myself with the knife he had given me. Just as the blade slashed across his ear, cutting it off, his sword came across my throat. I screamed and saw him grab the place his ear once was, and then I fell to the ground.
I held my bleeding throat, gasping for air, watching as the blood ran down my blue shawl. I was trying to stay alive, but the cut was too deep. I died in only a few seconds. But, right before I closed my eyes, Ghir looked down at me, his face stricken with fear as he watched me laying there, dying. A tear fell down from his eye, then stood on his cheek and formed a little black diamond. He smiled a little, his own smile, and I smiled back. For that one moment, I was sure he did remember, but he never would again.
Ghir was not the boy I once knew anymore, not the one who was my best friend, the one who fell clumsily when he tried to cross the stones to the waterfall, the one who had kissed me by the spring that day… he was Demon Lord Ghirahim.
A bright light surrounded me, and then I was in a different place. A beautiful woman stood before me, dressed in all white, her long golden hair tied in ribbons. She turned and looked at me with her soft blue eyes.
“Hylia, it’s you…” I said as I got down on my knees and bowed before her.
“Rise,” she told me. I did as she said, then she told me in an angelic voice, “I’m sorry that you perished the way you did. It was not meant to be.”
“Please, Hylia, I beg you to let me help Ghir somehow, to stop Demise…”
“I’m sorry to tell you, but Ghirahim cannot be helped now that he is a demon.”
“But I saw him, he remembered me, just before I died…”
“He may have, but when transformed, his human consciousness was put to sleep. It may have been awake for a moment, but once it is asleep, there is little chance it will ever be woken again. I’m sorry,”
“I understand…” I nodded, closing my eyes and trying not to cry. I had to accept that the person I had loved the most was still alive, but gone forever.
“But, you can still help stop Demise. That is what I wanted to speak to you about.” I looked up at her, wondering what she meant. “Ghirahim is a rare type of demon, a Sword Spirit, and will soon become the Demise Sword. You, Fire, if you accept my offer, will become the Spirit of the Master Sword. The Master Sword will be the blade of evil’s bane, and you will guide the Hero of Time, the one who will wield this sword, through his journey. I chose you, Fire, because your heart is pure, you are wise, and you have a strong spirit.”
“I accept,” I told her, smiling.
“But, I do warn you that there is a consequence to this. You will forever reside in the Master Sword, and as a Sword Spirit, will forget everything about your mortal life. Do you still wish to do this?”
“Yes,” I said, nodding again. She smiled softly, and then lightly placed her hand on my head.
I do not remember anything past that moment, but I do know that what Hylia told me would become true and that I then became Fi, Spirit of the Master Sword.

Oh my god, that was amazing! Weird how in a GhiraFi fic, Demise is always the bad guy. Yay! Don't worry, Fire! We'll help Ghirahim together!

And ya, I guess Demise has to be the bad guy since Ghirahim's usually good in these stories XD
And don't worry, the next fanfic's coming up soon and you'll get to see what happens to Ghir!

Thank you so much and I'm working on the sequel as we speak, getting the prologue all ready to go! I have the rest written, but it needs major editing. (I've actually been working day and night on it... pretty much ever since this once was posted. Man my brain is fried. I didn't expect to end up being so long... or to keep going on random vacations... or my computer to crash for a while...) But, anyway, I promise it's on its way! ^_^

Hehe, okay, I gotta tell you something.... .... I can't stand most of these sword-origin arts and stories because a lot of them seem to be so over-the-top, over-dramatic and just kinda flouncy.

But when I started reading this, why, my gosh, what a nice beginning you have to this story! Really, that is a sweet little hook with a great personality to start the story off. I wonder what their nomadic history was like....

And the interactions between the kids just felt so real and true. Kids can be so cruel.

And then when the demons started showing up, gaaah! I had flashbacks right then and there of the beginning cinematics in the game, about the ancient war.... I love how you've zoomed in past that stylized kind of portrayal, and given us a living, vibrant little glimpse of this tiny front of that war, just two frightened children, two swords and a knife.... oh gads, it's just such a desperate, tiny little battle that they probably know will never be known or remembered.

And Demise was so frightening; I loved how you wrote him. He really sounded true to the game; very------oh wait, you said you hadn't gotten to the end yet? .... then I won't say anything else on that point.

Ghirahim's transformation was just heartbreaking. ;.; And that he killed his friend.... Oh gads.... I don't even. Your descriptions and the way you painted the scenes and the action and the characters throughout all that part were just lovely. Lovely and sad.

And the ending has this bittersweetness.... that Fire will never remember. Her meeting with Hylia was so tender. These poor, poor mortals all swept up by demons and gods....

Just wonderful. Wonderful, wonderful work.

You have a wonderful writing style, and lovely taste in plot. Congratulations on your very first fanfiction! I hope you never stop writing.
