For Porno-graffitti's (http : //porno-graffitti.deviantart.com/) color-in-her-wonderfully-slashy-Little-Mermaidlike-KH2-lineart-contest! I love this picture, and it was so fun to be able to color it.
Anyway, I think a little explanation is in order for the background. Well, I was looking through all the entries for the contest, and I noticed surprisely little variation in the backgrounds. Most of them were the classic discover on beach theme. I wanted to make mine stand out, and the unusual entries did that (like the cloud, snow, or underwater BG). Sora looks a bit sad in this picture, different from his normal peppy self, so I tried to think of a good BG to convey that.
Note: I was thinking of the movie Splash when I added the chains and cage. Sora the merman is captured, so why not throw an almost shirtless Riku into the mix?
