Yeah, I have that effect on people I didn't think it was all depressing, but now looking again all I see is the Greek workers one that's not depressing (but still sort of when you think of the Greek economy). At least =KnoFear is a little more positive

Just watched a documentary, The Revisionaries, about the Texas State Board of Education and their influence on not just Texas school textbooks but national curriculum. If you want a serious WTF is wrong with people moment, I highly recommend it. Although it will raise your blood pressure many times what I imagine this page just did [link]

I've got a few links of my own to contribute, in particular thanks to Reddit:

The Zapatistas have re-emerged as a force in Mexican politics to criticize the abuses of capitalism, particularly the elite on indigenous peoples: [link]

Billionaires secretly funded a vast climate denial network: [link]

A new documentary details the hoax of the Iraq War: [link]

The GOP appears to be marching to its own demise, thankfully: [link]

In further good news, the Czech Republic has legalized medical marijuana: [link]

The UK, France, and Germany have pledged to keep large companies from avoiding taxes by shifting their money around: [link]

At long last, the Saudi police of vice and virtue are being reigned in: [link]

That's all I have on me for now; I hope it's useful (and in some cases uplifting).

Oh cool, thanks for those. That climate change one is something I especially find important. Al Jazeera's People and Power piece on the Koch brothers funding climate change denial blew the lid off of it, it got people talking and more aware at the least. It shouldn't be surprising, especially when you see the names behind it, but it's still so infuriating. And it's working, that's the worst part, climate change denial is huge and seems to be increasing (particularly in the US). I found Skeptic Magazine's tackling of climate change denial pretty thorough [link] and the site skepticalscience.com [link] is an incredibly in depth resource (and NCSE [link] , one of my personal favorite organizations). Hopefully showing the intentions behind these few funding bad science, and educating people on reality, will be enough to keep such ideas from continuing to grow and really cause harm to the environment.
