The technique is utterly amazing It is an incredible believeable drawing from an artist that masters both b/w AND adding colours to the eyes without making them steal the focus; exactly as subtle as it should be.
The way which the very detailed and well textured face almost flattens out in the corners of the picture makes sense, it would've been very confusing if the artist had tried to draw an actual outline for the head and this solution works out very well. The impact is very powerful with this face macro and the facial expression and use of emotion adds to the originality.
