One of the few shots I took yesterday in the streets of MΓ‘laga with the Canon 18-55 Kit lens...DOF effect strengthened in Photoshop. (yes, digitally altered - wouldn't have done it if I had the gear I have now back then - but I didn't)

Great tones and contrast. Excellent subject. Frame is not as distracting to my mind as others have said, however i think the image is weighted a little bit to much to the left of the man. Its a pity he is walking out of the frame instead of into it. That said, great lighting as well, and your work with the DOF was well used. Tonal range is also superb.

I had to strengthen the effect in Photoshop a bit (as noted in the description) since I used my Kit Lens for it, I wish I would have had my new 50mm F1.8 so I wouldn't have needed to use Photoshop at all

I find it absolutely ridiculous that people can assume that a man walking alone has to be a widower, lonely or what have you. Assumptions based on what we think of the subjects characteristics and traits is totally irrelevant in terms of critique. All you can offer a photographer is your thoughts on the technical/composition aspects of the photograph and in terms of this piece I do love the capture and the overall spirit of the shot, but I don't like the drop-shadow on the border. Great work nevertheless

Edited the border as promised. I never expected this picture to get a DD so I never really took the time to remove the shadow from the border.
About people assuming that the man is a widower or lonely... everyone can think / assume whatever they want about it, I think its also part of the fun of these kind of shots, since everyone can make up a different story for the photo
