"Oh thank Galyx! I thought we were done for!" your friend pants, clearly rattled and disheveled as they hug you tight. Lurk is badly injured, breathing hard and hunkering down into the snow, one wing bloody and drooping. It might be broken, and Lurk is definitely in too much pain to make the trip to the village without help to heal.

With a great deal of coaxing, you and your friend manage to get Lurk to stand up long enough to get her harness off and transfer it to your Stryx, while Lurk settles onto the back of the supply sled. Your Stryx will have to summon all of their strength to pull you all to the safety of the trade village before nightfall.

Aand this concludes Chapter 1's prompt series for its arc, with Moon' having taken a hefty start to get the sled going with an injured Lurk on board.

Originally, I was going to have Lurk trailing behind the sled, until I looked again and saw that she was actually in the sled itself, and I had already rendered all the luggage and the like. Still works out though, Lurk herself couldn't weigh much more than a few hundred pounds (about the same as two humans at least).

The sled itself was an interesting challenge in design, as I tend to lean towards organic forms, and it needed to be styled in a way for an avian/biped to be able to pull it, while their 'rider' can guide it from any point with tugs of the reins attached to the yoke. It was partially the reason why this entry was a bit later than I planned on it being.

Though not entirely noticeable, I think I've made big progress on how to handle normal tree trunks. Still figuring out the whole cedar business as it were!
