Hi all,Here's a set of images taken from the annual Floriade Flower Festival held in Canberra (Australia's capital).
My friends and I set out at 4 AM (I was driving), after having about 3 hours of sleep! After 3 and-a-half hours we arrived in Canberra. It was the most beautiful day you could imagine; not a cloud in the sky and the sun shining bright.
We were some of the first few people to arrive at the festival. The morning mist had left beautiful droplets and beads of water on the flowers.
I'm surprised my friends didn't get angry or upset with me, as I took up to three or four minutes to compose and take a single shot. Then again, I did organise the trip and they did know that it was going to be a photographic expedition.
I was pretty tired by the end of the day having lugged around my bag full of lenses and carrying my tripod!
I love the different colours and minute detail in this shot.

I also really love the colors and detail here. The flower is such an incredible fiery color, and the light and shadow playing on it give such a good sense of its form.
Photos like this starkly render the natural perfection that we as humans sometimes have trouble perceiving. Lovely shot!

I'll pass your compliments on to the lens that captured the photons which fell on the CMOS sensor.
Seriously, though, you are right; often-times, we just pass fleeting glances at objects (natural or otherwise) which have so much detail there waiting to be appreciated.
My eyes started absorbing the natural environment around me when I started dabbling in 3D modelling. 3D modelling is something that I've given up in place of photography. Both are expressive mediums, but, I prefer the advantage of being able to get outside and away from the PC that photography brings me. Though, to be honest, after imaging the heavens, I spend two or three times the acquisition time on the computer in pre- and post-processing. Go figure.

The few photographs I've taken myself have really increased the amount of attention I give to the forms of things I used to take for granted.
Maybe it's just that the sometimes extreme conditions you now endure make you more aware of your time spent away from the computer.

This is my favourite. It may be because I really like the multi colour tulips, but I think this shot just works.
