Some time ago, listening to that song [link] a verse caught my attention “If you're not very careful your possessions will posses you”

The first thing I thought was how pertinent this apparently simple sentence is. We're living in a world where the only important thing is to have stuff. And the more we have the happier we think we're. The novelty seduces us, doesn't mind if it's really necessary of worth all the time we spend working to get it, even though all that really matters, family, friends, love, are left behind.

We all know that, as well as we feel sorry for ourselves. I'm not even close tho be the first who said that and definitely will not be the last one. Everybody is aware of that feeling-crisis of humanity. But anybody really does nothing to mitigate that situation.

I just wonder when we turned out like that. Was it a hundred years ago or when we came out of the caves?

I think the materialistic desires of the culture would be just fine and perfectly healthy if the majority of the people could actually afford what they buy with money they have. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't get paid 1. enough money to live on and/or 2. the money that they deserve for the job that they do.

Personally, I'm pretty sure it has always been like this. Materialism is in our nature, but so is maintaining healthy relationships. I think they can coexist :]
