It just takes a little practice. I didn't touch pens for art until I was a junior in high school. I hated them until then, and then after playing around a little I discovered that I loved them. These pens are hard because there is no difference in line due to pressure like there is with ball points, but I sort of like that too. C:

Love the black and white with a bit of color. And I agree, constantly drawing happy expressions isn't fun.
