Description My second attempt at a studio-esque still life photo. A bit more commitment was placed upon this one, whereas my first, Digicide, was pretty spur-of-the moment. It took some time and effort, but it turned out well enough. Konica Minolta DiMage z10 photograph, edited for brightness and contrast in Adobe Photoshop 7.0.

Very nice, but i would hope that isn't real blood.
if you don't mind my asking, how did you pull that off? The blades look perfectly balanced. i think it'd make a badass poster.

Haha, no, 'tis not real blood, Tei. I had some fake stuff left over from Halloween. As for the balancing act, a simple but careful placement of hot glue was all I needed. It was difficult and time consuming, but I eventually pulled it off.

The full view is huge! You can even see the fingerprints on the razors!!

There is also a fair bit of digital noise in this image. you should consider using some sort of noise reduction, or at least despeckle in Photoshop.

You should also consider using some sort of curved join between the floor and the wall of the backdrop.

Thank you so much for your comment...two questions though.

1. Do you think I should resize and re-upload the image so the full size isn't so huge?

2. I noticed the sharp change between the floor and wall of the backdrop, as I guess that's what you're referring to. What do you mean by a curved joint? Example?

In any event, thank you very much for your comment and critique. It is very much appreciated.

Umm, try to use something so as to have no sharp edge at all, a continuous line such as I long piece of paper, with a gentle curve hence creating a gentle gradient through the shadow instead of a hard line...

As for resizing, Umm, maybe about 50% original size... You've gotta think about the poor ppl who are stuck on dialup! (no not me, but I remember when I used to be!)

I hope I've been constructive!!!

As I was waiting for your reply, I thought of paper. It's funny, as the floor and wall were lined with computer paper...next time I'll use an extra piece and tape it with a curve. Also, I despeckled and resized...you're right, it is much better.

Thank you so very much. You have been most helpful.
