You make painting black cats seem effortless.
White whiskers look so impressive on black cats.

LoL thanks for that. Black or white animals are the toughest usually. I have gotten lots of practice with them so they are not so hard now, but I used to dread them like the plague... lol

I dont use a base color. I just put straight paint out of the tube onto the paper then use the water to draw out the medium and light values.

I think our painting style and techniques are quite different.
I only use pans or cakes of paint. I suppose you usually work wet on wet. I'd like to try different styles and techniques and experiment some more, I hope I'll have time for it over the holidays.

I work with tube paint straight onto dry paper. then add water to where I want the paint to go, then add salt... lol

yeah I pit the paint on with a thing called a "wipe out tool." I dip it in several colors at a time and apply the paint. then add the water etc.
