once again i love the eyes, donno how you do it but you always tend to capture everything in the eyes. two thumbs up!

nice! have them try sugar too. cane sugar (C&H). it does things similar to salt but leaves it shiny and wet looking after it dries.

You're a genius! The thought never would have crossed my mind, but it makes perfect sense! I guess we'd have to be careful to seal it properly, though - don't want ants crawling on our artwork looking for tasty tidbits!

this is watercolor right? how do you make the eyes so sharp and infocus? my watercolors always look like what i see when i take my glasses off! you do a great job!

I do the eyes last. I leave them dry and paint the rest of the picture first. then to do the eyes:
1. wet the entire iris
2. make a thick wash of the color you want in the eyes (consistancy of vegitable oil or so)
3. make sure the while iris is still wet (not too wet)
4. finally drop the color into the top of the iris right along the top edge
5. DONT FUSS WITH IT. Stand up and walk away
6. that last one is very importand.
7. after it is dry, come back and fill in the iris and the lineing of the eye.
8. add in the TITANIUM WHITE watercolor for the glints and shinty on the eyen and nose and whiskers.
