9 x 12 Watercolor Commission of Yao MingHe is a special needs rescue that was adopted by a couple who really love him.
You will notice that his eyes look funny. He was born with some sort of eye infection, but was never taken to a vet. His eyes completely scarred over and he is 100% blind.
He happily now has a great life and is doing well.

I don't know why I haven't commented before now. I am Ming's mum. He is doing great - just turned 4 years old and amazes us every day with how he "sees" the world and gets around. Of course, he's only ever known darkness so he doesn't think there's anything special about him but we know better.
The image on the screen doesn't do justice to how well Lisa has captured his sweetness and intelligence. We are so pleased with the portrait. It hangs in the front hall where everyone sees it upon walking into the house.

Aww. What a great face.
Our lab was 100% blind as well. She had retinal atrophy and lost her sight when she was 6 or so, but she still had a great life. And managed to find ways to sneak loaves of bread right off the counter.
