The story behind the painting begins with a painful experience I went through - my divorce with my husband and the fact that my daughter stayed with him. This betrayal and the emotional turmoil it caused inspired a work of art that delves deeply into the psyche of a woman searching for herself after facing profound changes in her life. The central theme of this painting revolves around the idea of a woman searching for her new identity through various transformations in her life. The two female figures in the painting, one real and one from a different world, represent different aspects of the female psyche. The real figure represents the outer self, while the otherworldly image embodies the inner self, something I was trying to discover and accept. While working on the painting, I channelled all my emotional energy and experiences onto the canvas, using it as a means of expressing my pain, fear and insecurity. The female figures in the painting are depicted in a mystical and dreamlike way, symbolising the journey of self-discovery I have been on. While the real figure stares intently at the world, trying to make sense of it all, the otherworldly figure seems to beckon her, urging her to embrace her true self. The colours and lighting of the painting play a crucial role in conveying the emotions behind the artwork.
